First time reading any books in this series but I will definitely be reading more!! I love second chance romances and this had plenty of heat and action to go with it.

ARC received for review

Well, I was looking forward to Jace's story, but it just dragged in places plus I wanted to know all of his back story from his time in the service. Then there was all the drama with Taryn. I just wanted to slap her upside the head several times. There was no lack of heat, sex, drama or angst between these two. There's lots of help from all the previous peeps, and there are a couple more guys to get HEAs.

I adore Donna Grant & her brilliant mind that creates amazing characters & stories. This was a gifted read by Netgalley but I give my honest review. This is not what you expect this book to be about if you only see the book jacket and haven't read her previous books in this series. This is Jace and Taryn 's romantic suspense story. In this book you get second chance romance, drama, Good guys vs bad, suspense, twists and turns but what you don't get is really a cowboy feel. You understand the cowboy reference only if you've read the other books otherwise you'll be confused. Carry over characters mean that this book is best enjoyed reading in order, it's not a must but I feel you'll understand these friends dynamics and true feel of family, love, loyalty and friendship!

Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion from NetGalley. Action and romance makes this the perfect book for my snowed in day. I enjoyed hearing from some characters that I have grown fond of in this series. Donna Grant delivered again!

Jace is every woman’s dream. Except he only wants Taryn, who gutted him when she left him 5 years ago without any explanation. She’s been through hell and back when she reappears in his life. He demands answers. I love this series. Strong men with covert ops backgrounds means action packed reading. I loved how intense Jace was in his feelings for Taryn. I’m a fool for reading that kind of emotion. And it was satisfying to read how good triumphs over evil. I’m a sucker for those stories too. The camaraderie among the crew of friends is great to read about. I’m Amy wait to read Ryan’s story, which hopefully is next.

4-5 stars! Jace and Taryn will take you for a suspense ridden romance in this latest book by Donna Grant. I’ll share that this is the sixth book in this Heart of Texas series but you don’t need to read the rest before this one. Other characters/couples are included though so you can tell they were in previous stories and sometimes I glossed over those parts as I haven’t read those books yet but plan to in the near future.

This story is told in dual POV’s which I personally love and you really get more background and emotion from the two characters. A Cowboy Kind Of Love read almost like an action packed movie to me after it got going. The beginning was a little vague or possibly it was for me since I hadn’t read the prior books but I didn’t know the extent of what Jace and Taryn had gone through when they were younger. This is a second chance romance too and the big question originally was what happened for Taryn to leave like she did. The author gets into this but then there’s some plot twists (one really unexpected) that will keep you turning the pages.

While Jace Is referred to as the cowboy in this book, I wouldn’t say it’s your traditional cowboy with a ranch book. Jace’s personality though is definitely your protective and strong hero type which was a good pairing for Taryn who was a strong woman that had endured a lot but needed help. I read this book in almost one sitting and on top of enjoying the suspense, I also liked the romance that flared between these two characters.

Looking forward to reading the rest of the series and recommend this book for those that enjoy romance with some suspense action.

A big thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is another good book in her series. I love it when there are kind, sensitive guys who are also tough military types. It was an interesting story and I like all the characters in the book.

Starting right out of the gate with excitement. I was drawn in with the first sentence. There was so much action from beginning to end. I was surprised at several turns. I was in tears, but most of all I was so pleased with everything. The romance between Jace and Taryn could not be denied. Book provided by NetGalley.

A Cowboy Kind of Love concerns Jake who is on a downward spiral after the love of his life Taryn left him and completely disappeared. Now 5 years later she reappears desperately needing Jakes help, she has a dangerous situation where her sister is being kept as ransom to ensure she has to do all manner of illicit tasks and the latest is raising half a million dollars for her sisters keeper.
Jakes feelings for Taryn haven’t changed, and he and his friends are prepared to go all out to help. As the story progresses there is lots of action and tension as slowly the horror of Taryn’s past is revealed.
A good story but without giving away any spoilers I did feel Jake accepted Taryn back far too easily especially with some of the things she had done, 5 years was a long time before she finally did something about her troubles. That said exciting and enjoyable particularly the surprise reveal at the end.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Jace's girlfriend Taryn left town one night several years ago. Jace still loves and misses her. Taryn left town because some men were after her family. When Taryn shows up, Jace wants to protect her. This book was both enjoyable and well written.

3.5 stars. Book 6 in the series and we finally get to Jace. Except I didn’t feel like Jace’s personality came through like I hoped for separate from his feelings for Taryn. Their story was good and had a little twist but it seemed to be a bit comical during the action scenes.

Maybe my expectations were too high for this one.

Thanks to NetGalley and St Martins for the arc.

I've read all the books in this series, so I was excited to finally get to read Jace's story. This book was high on the suspense and not so much on the romance. Honestly, it didn't bother me this time since the thrill of all that was going on kept me engaged and eager to finish the book as quickly as possible. But for some, you may miss the romance. It's still there, but Jace and Taryn fell in love years before, so their love story was only put on pause for the 5 years they were apart and we miss the gradual build-up to love that you'd normally get in a new relationship.

Jace was always the happy-go-lucky, food-addicted and loyal man with a tortured (literally) past we grew to love in previous books. I don't recall much being spoken about his past before, so it was nice to finally understand what he went through when he was in the military and why his heart was broken.

Jace and Taryn were in love for a couple years and had already planned on getting married and starting a life together before she vanished with her family one night without much explanation. All Jace received was a text saying she had to leave and she ended things with him. What we didn't know until this book was that Taryn was forced to leave with her family by the leader of a huge Texas drug kingpin. Her father owed him money, her brother was also a druggie and they (including her younger sister) were all forced into servitude to pay off the debts. She's been holed up for 5 years now trying to pay off the debt and break free from the hold Boyd has on her and her sister. Now she's back in Clearview to try and gather the $500K she needs to buy her freedom. What she doesn't plan on happening is having Jace and the merry band of honorable and bada** men assist her.

If you've read the previous books, you know how they work and that they'll stop at nothing to protect those they love. So you should expect nothing less from the group this time around. Only this time, we get even more than bargained for when some new players step up to help. That was a welcome surprise!

The plot twist towards the end wasn't really a surprise for me. I honestly called that from early on in the book. Maybe that's why I read so quickly since I wanted to have my theory validated. It certainly didn't disappoint, although the whole scene in which it was revealed wrapped up way too quickly for my liking.

For the first time in this series, the ending actually felt like ending and not an open-ended HFN I've come to expect with Ms. Grant. It was actually quite nice to get that closure. I do think there will at least be a spin-off, if not a continuation of the series with Ryan and Brick's stories (and maybe even Cash?). I can't wait to hear more about Brick!

I think it's a toss-up as to whether this book or Clayton/Abby's book was my favorite. This one definitely had the better suspense. But both are still 5 star reads.

This is my second novel by this author and I really like the story portion of her novels but her writing style just isn’t working for me.
I feel like her some parts of this story needed less explaining and other’s needed more then just a few words.

**I received a copy of A Cowboy Kind of Love from St. Martin's Press and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions are my own and not solicited in any way.**

A Cowboy kind of Love by Donna Grant is the sixth book in her Heart of Texas series this is Jace and Taryn's story. It has suspense, betrayal and a second chance at love for both of them and characters from previous books come together to help Taryn get away from a bad situation. Now I have to confess that I'm a little biased of the subject because of personal family situations but know that it's a story so I kept an open mind when I read this book.

Jace Wilder has been trying hard to rebuild his life but when he sees Taryn Hillman could it be real or just a dream? When she shows up asking for help getting free from the drug dealer who has kept her family working off a debt. Can he help her with not only money but to finally find out why she left so many years ago. There's a lot of twists and turns building up to the end for a climatic ending.

Taryn Hillman tried to protect her family from her father's drug use but when they are taken and have to work off a debt. But when she goes back to Clearview with hopes that asking Jace for help will he help or ? But can she tell all of Jace's friends that it could be the most dangerous thing they do? But the surprise ending will be the most shocking for Taryn no one could predict.

Donna Grant is an author I never miss! I have enjoyed every Heart of Texas book and Jace and Taryn’s story in “A Cowboy Kind of Love” was as good as all the others! Taryn left Jace years ago without explanation. He has never gotten over her. Now she is back and in trouble. Thrills, suspense, romance and surprises. Everything you need to enjoy a nice weekend read.

Good love story with a little bit of a thriller thrown in. Jace needs to overcome his lost love until that love returns needing his help. Taryn is in danger and needs help to save her sister. Jace recruits the help of his friends to solve Taryn's problem. The ending has a surprise twist.
