I have loved this guy ever since I found "Extinct or Alive" on my TV planner... I have since followed him on social media and one thing that really comes through is his love and enthusiasm for what he does,
It was therefore great to be able to see the man behind this persona. To see how his childhood shaped the man he became and to witness some of the delights of his career so far.
It's poignant and also sends a big message about the wildlife and how precarious some of it is. Also our interaction with it and how that makes a difference - good and bad.
Enlightening and interesting stuff indeed.

I enjoyed reading this book. The book begins as the author recounts his childhood among animals in Zimbabwe. After political unrest in the country forces the family to leave they land in California. His mother struggles to keep the family together and Forrest struggles to fit it. Wildlife once again provides an escape for Forrest. The rest of the book deals with his television shows and his desire to bring awareness of conservation to the world. This was my favorite part of the book. I really enjoyed reading about the adventures to find "extinct" animals. The author does a good job with conveying his joy and inspiring others. The book is well written and easy to read. Enjoy

Forrest Galante is not the celebrity nature lover you may expect. In fact, he has earned his public platform by fighting against the current of your typical reality-TV nature show, avoiding the sensational in favor of education, appreciation, and conservation.

He just happens to be the kind of guy who will do crazy stuff to achieve his goals, and this makes for pretty good TV. *Still Alive* tells Galante's side of the story, from his childhood in South Africa to the jungles of Myanmar. There are plenty of tales of adventure and more than a few moments you think this guy may be full of himself, but at the end of the day he's dedicated to wildlife conservation in way you can't help but respect.

I absolutely love Forrest and his show Extinct or Alive, he has done so much for conservation and I can tell how he loves animals and his life.

So of course I had to check this out. It doesn’t have much prose, but it’s straightforward and still emotionally moving. I never realized how much Forrest had to go through, especially because he always seems so cheerful. I would say it lacks practiced writing, but the author makes up for it with his expertise in animals and adventure.

I couldn’t put this book down, and I reveled in the stories. This is a great read for those who are a fan of animals, conservation, or Forrest Galante himself. It tells a multicultural tale, from a unique perspective. I highly recommend it if you’re into nonfiction, memiors, and adventure!
