I’m mostly confused. This started out as a super cute story, very much veered into a strange place, and then ended so suddenly.

I can definitely see the lesson of learning to enjoy your own company, but I’m not sure it’s fully executed here. The ending also could have used…well, an ending.

Thank you to NetGalley, Tundra Books, and Penguin Random House Canada for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is a story about a lonely caterpillar who wants to throw a party. Everyone that he invites is rude to him, so he draws friends onto his body and parties alone. I know that the moral of the story is that you can have fun alone, but this story is honestly sad. It ends a little abruptly. This wasn’t my favorite.

The Unforgettable Party was an adorable story about making your own fun when you are alone. It is great to show kids how they can play alone and don't always need someone there to be entertained and escape boredom. I think this is a good book for any child, but it will definitely hit home with an only child or a child without siblings close in age!

I just reviewed The Unforgettable Party by Noemi Vola. #NetGalley #ChildrensLibrarian

Ummmm… when no one wants to come to Caterpillars party he makes new friends. Its new friends are different parts of itself. It has a grand time, but a nightmare makes it worry about all of them leaving him, and then it takes a bath. That is where the story ends, but this bath would make the friends leave since they were just drawn on to begin with. This is actually a really sad book wrapped up to be a comedy.

With thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for an early copy in return for an honest review.

I read this book with my 3-year-old nephew and he thought it was fun (he really liked seeing the caterpillar walking on his antennae). The illustrations were kid like and although my nephew was sad that the caterpillar didn't have any friends, he liked that he drew friends on the different parts of his body.

While I read picture books to my 9 and 10-year-old students, I think this one is on the younger side for them but young readers (3-6 years-old) would find this enjoyable. I did think the ending was a bit abrupt, but overall a cute story.

This is a sweet story about how to have fun on your own. Caterpillar has no friends who are willing to come to the party he decides to throw, so he makes his own friends - on his own body! They have a wonderful time doing everything they want to do. Of course, his friends are really himself, but he has a great time. It felt like it lacked direction or plot, but it nearly doesn't matter as younger kids will still enjoy the illustrations.

The ending of the book is cute, and I think kids will enjoy being asked what they think will happen next.

The drawings in this book were cute and very kid-like. The book was easy to read. Caterpillar invites his friends to a party, but no one can come so he makes each section of himself into a separate person. Lots of pop culture references throughout the book (Sailor Moon, Spiderman, Dragonball Z, etc.). My one complaint about the book was that it felt like it just ended to me.

A fun and quirky read for both children and adults. There is humor in both the words and illustrations and Caterpillar is an extremely enjoyable protagonist!

An odd story of a caterpillar made up of green circles that can’t find any friends to come to his party. So he decorates his sections as different people and celebrates as a group. After dreaming that they all deserted him he wakes up to find them still drawn onto his body, and goes to take a bath. The end. I expected that when he got out of the bath they would actually all be gone, washed away, so he could start again drawing different new friends, modeling resilience and adaptability, but the story doesn’t go there, it just ends. Disappointing.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the digital advance reading copy of this book.

This was an interesting book. Caterpillar is unable to get his friends together for a party so he comes up with a different solution. I think kids will enjoy how creative Caterpillar gets to make his party happen.

I love this book! It is creative and so much fun! It sends a positive message of celebrating time with ... yourself! Caterpillar is very bored
so he decides to throw a party: "a marvellous, super long, super fun, unforgettable party!!!!". His house is large and he has all the decorations and trimmings to make it happen. After contacting all his friends he is very disappointed to find out that nobody is able to attend his grand soirée. This makes caterpillar very sad. Whatever shall he do?

Never one to give up, Caterpillar is determined to party on and he comes up with a brilliant idea. What he creates will bring a smile to your face and heart. He uses his markers and artistic talent to create his own personal guests ... six attendees that are sure to come to his party.

Together they dance, play, dress up, eat loads of yummy pizza and sing theme songs from their favourite cartoons, just to name a few. His party is a HUGE hit and every part of him is happy! The illustrations are quirky and the text is simple and very entertaining. Both young and old will be entertained. I highly recommend this book.
