I received an arc from NetGalley for an honest review. Excellent book for kids to learn about hockey, teamwork, and working together.

I did not read Great but I am definitely going to have to read it now! What a fantastic book; kids in any sport will be able to relate to this story.

The illustrations are so bright and colorful and the story is filled with positivity. Highly recommend this book!

This book was so adorable and wonderfully illustrated. As a hockey player who grew up knowing the Gretzky name, reading this was a pleasure. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

This book is the sequel to Great. Now that Taylor is used to being on the team, Coach Wally decides that he is more than capable of taking on more responsibility.

He wants Taylor to work on a One-Two play with… Wayne! Taylor battles with his own insecurities again as well as learning to overcome anxiousness and fear.

My favorite part in this book was how open Taylor was with Coach Wally about how he was feeling; even though they were in the middle of a game! I feel like recognizing one’s emotions for what they are is something that everyone needs to do more often (both in real life and fiction).

The one thing that I dislike about these books so far is how Taylor puts Wayne on a pedestal as being perfect. Wayne is human too; no one is perfect. I hope that future books acknowledge this fact.

I recommend this book to anyone who needs a reminder that practice matters; and that fear can empower us instead of stalling us if we let it. Thank You NetGalley for this early review copy! I’ll be sure to be on the look-out for future books. I want to see how Taylor and Wayne grow as players and read more of Coach Wally’s awesome pep-talks.

What a great tribute to the late Walter Gretzky! I already have the first book called Great and I look forward to adding this book to my collection as well! My little hockey readers are going to love it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This book was just okay. The story seems to rely on name recognition of Wayne and Walter Gretzky, as the plot feels rather one note. This might work well for an older child with support, although uses of the words "bonkers" and "wolf"as colloquialisms might be difficult for a young person trying to read. Also there was a notable lack of diversity, it would have been nice to see more varied perspectives on the hockey team.

In this inspiring story, Wayne and his teammate learn to work together, do their best and trust each other. Not just for sports fans, this book shares and encourages everyone to do their best and to rely on teammates/friends to do the same. This book will definitely appeal to young hockey players and other sports fans. It is also a great story to help kids see how teamwork and doing your best are skills we can all use on and off the ice.

Great Too easily scores at passing the tried and true messages that everyone needs to hear and live by. Coach Wally says that you’ll miss all the shots and passes that you don’t take and reminds us that friends are here to help too.
Mr Gretzky is fondly remembered as ‘Canada’s Hockey Dad’.
I love that Wally’s jacket sports both the Canadian and US flags on the sleeve patch.
The pictures are eye catching with bold, bright colours. Diversity is evident among the team’s players. The text is easily read.
I somehow missed the first book, Great, but I’m sure glad to have had the opportunity to read this sequel.
This book is a must read for all aspiring athletes (especially those “little #99s).
Awesome!
Many thanks to Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC.

What a cute sequel! This little picture book is great for teaching kids about the value of practice, good teamwork, sportsmanship and not giving up or being afraid to try something. Featuring as a child Canadian hockey legend Wayne and his Dad, Coach Wally (Watler) Gretzky This is a great book for kids whether or not they are playing hockey, soccer, basketball or some other team or individual sport. The moral of the story is a lesson they can carry with them throughout their life as they enter elementary school all the way through to college. The positive message helped our star Taylor overcome fear and play well and achieve great things!

The second in a series of picture books about a young Wayne Gretzky and his young friend Taylor. Familiarity with the previous title, Great, is not needed, nor is familiarity with Wayne Gretzky and his adult career. The story focuses on trying over achieving and expands on the famous Gretzky-ism, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Great Too is a super cute book about practicing hard, counting on your team, and overcoming those game day nerves. Even if you're not perfect, throw that puck into the slot and trust your teammate. You miss 100% of the shots (and passes!) that you don't make!

There are so many things I love about the messages in this book: assists get points on the board just the same as goals, girls and kids of color on all teams, teammates sticking up for each other and talking each other up, coaches looking out for their players, and the benefits of putting your all into practice, even if it's still not perfect. This book is everything youth hockey should be!

While I had not previously read the first Gretzky book, it was not necessary for this story. It has a great message known by Gretzky fans that you will miss all the shots you don't take. The character is able to work with his anxiety.
