Although I enjoyed the story, I had a really hard time with the writing style and I didn't realize before requesting that this is the third book in the series. I love a dark story and Carver definitely delivers on the darkness. Maybe I'll try reading the first books in the series before picking up this one again.

3/5 Stars!

I'm sorry but I had to DNF Hinton Hollow Death Trip but this decision was by no means the fault of Will Carver. He is an excellent writer who uses compelling perspectives to orchestrate fascinating narrative that really consume the reader. The idea to unviel the motivations of pure evil and it's view on humanity was brilliant and it was the perfect way to continue the Detective Pace series. HHDT details an entire week where evil lets loose in the town of Hinton Hollow. Nudging people, sending them over the tipping point and sitting back and watching the chaos. But it is so much more than that and I was really getting into it but the key plot point that launches the narrative is the murder of a child. The ensuing portrayal a grief stricken and broken family is too close to home for me right now and I have decided to bow out due to emotional overload. I will certainly try to return to Hinton Hollow Death Trip in the future because Will Carver is an outstanding writer who deserves the attention and I can't wait to see what's next on the cards for him.

I loved the way this was written. Never quite had such an experience with a book before. Made me really question good and evil in the world. Made me question myself. The little tidbits of info sprinkled throughout the pages were very entertaining. It really brought insight into our modern world in a strange way. Want to read Will Carver if all his books are this thrilling.
