Great book for beginners. I have never gone birdwatching in the Pacific Northwest, but I enjoyed learning about the bird species there. I hope that other guides like this one are published for different geographical areas within the United States.

4☆ An Informative and Enjoyable Guide to  Birdwatching for Children and Adults.

Look at that Bird is a fascinating beginners guide to birdwatching and identifying birds in the Pacific Northwest.
I'm in the UK so although it didn't really apply to me I still enjoyed learning all about the different Birds.

Since the Covid Pandemic Mum and Me have taken up a lil bit of bird watching so this book was really nice to read.

I loved the photographs, my bird book I have at home is illustrated, and it's frustrating as I don't think it gives the reader a true representation of the birds.
So it was so lovely to see the different Birds up close.

There is so much information and facts for each bird,  ie, the size of the bird, colours and patterns to help identify, their sound ( meaning the song they sing ), the nest and eggs, the food they eat, region and habitat and the season you will likely find them.

Some birds I spotted that was familiar in both the UK and Pacific Northwest were: Robin, Blackbird, Wren, we have black caps but in America they are called Black-capped Chickadee, Crow and Raven, Mallards, Finch, Canada Goose, Gulls, Starling, Woodpecker.

This book would make a Beautiful Gift for someone who loves birds and nature, someone who is just starting out birdwatching or someone who already birdwatches but is interested in birds from the Pacific Northwest.
Although this book is aimed at the younger birdwatcher I think this book would be great for all ages! I certainly enjoyed it!

I received a copy of this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. This is a great book for new birders of any age who live or plan to visit the Pacific Northwest. Lots of great information about the birds you will see, what they look like, and helpful tips for identification. I won't purchase for my library because we are on the other side of the country.

This would be an excellent book for anyone just starting out in bird watching, for children, or for that person who just wants to identify what bird that is in their yard. Super easy to read, good photographs, and interesting. It manages to hit the majority of the birds we have here in the Pacific Northwest.

Solid introduction to bird watching in general, and to birds in the Pacific Northwest in particular. This covers everything a young birder needs: bird anatomy, habitats, nesting, feeding, migration- and emphasizes responsible behavior in the wild or in your backyard. This is followed by photos and info about the different species that make this region their home. Excellent resource.
