The book opens and leaves no chance for connection to the main character before stumbling on death and suffering. It takes you as a reader out of the story and makes it harder to be interested in any character development when nothing is presented past a grisly murder in the first few pages.

I’ve been on a total academy book binge lately, and with so so so many on the market, I feel like I’ve not only read them all, but I’ve read them **all**. Meaning there is barely any books or series that are unique and not repetitive in nature. I enjoyed this story, and will be waiting to see more from the author !
