I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

This is the second book in Ms. Bybee’s Richter series and what a thrilling, emotional roller coaster of a journey this wonderful author took readers on.

Right from the start, this book is engrossing as the main characters are strong and invite a reader to want to get to know more about them, which I did when it came to Olivia and Leo. The heroine is resilient, brave and I really felt for her. Redemption is important to her. But when she loses everything she’s ever known how does a woman know where to turn? How does she put her trust in people? Then again, there’s something about Leo that makes her want to put her trust in him.

While Leo, he’s a very determined FBI agent. There’s nothing he won’t do to keep Olivia safe, especially when she’s at her most vulnerable. Will her memories return to her? Will he be able to keep Olivia safe? Will he gain her trust? Will he get the criminal he’s after and close the case he’s working? So many questions rattled around in my mind and pulled me further into the book. Really, I read it in one sitting and wanted more.

Overall, Ms. Bybee has delivered one of her best books yet, which showed the depths of her research, how wrapped up in her characters she gets as she writes and which also ended marvelously, as Olivia realizes that she deserves love in her life. That she shouldn’t forever be seeking redemption for things that happened in the past. The past is the past and she and Leo deserve to be happy.

An outstanding suspense story that will keep you intrigued. Even a bit of romance thrown in. Along with this there’s danger as well to make this a superb book.

Second from Richter series. It would be helpful to understand the characters and storyline if first book is read.
This one starts in Vegas where victim of first book will be testifying against her capture who is link to mafia. FBI agent Leo Grant is overseeing the case since his undercover was deeply related to the case. He wanted to make sure someone pays for what happened to those girls. He meets mysterious women on his way out of restaurant and fallows her. He was determined to ask her except he didn't get to ask when bullets were flying.
Olivia has been working with Neil for a case. He has been trying to recruit her as long as she can remember. She loves to blend into the background and that's what she does best since she is hired gun. She wasn't as lucky as Sasha, Claire and Jax. She has been groomed to become an assassin and now she wants out but not sure which way she wants to go. Now working with Neil may change her heart except she gets shot and suffers amnesia.
Olivia can't remember everything about herself, not even her name. Leo is doing his best to make sure she is safe and wants to get to know her. When Neil finds Olivia in ICU, he decides to move her to Colorado to keep her safe and make sure when she regains her memory, he wants her surrounded by people she knows.
Olivia and Leo are having great time until her memories comes back. Once memories come back, Olivia on her way away from people. She wants to keep people safe even if she has to sacrifice her happiness. But Leo won't let her go and he will do what he needs to do to get her back.
This one is more about Olivia and Leo. Some secrets about Richter academy is revealed yet it seems not enough. . Things moves quickly and keeps on your toes until the end. Can't wait to get to next one.
Thanks to Netgalley and Montlake for ARC.

Catherine Bybee is my to go author when I need action, intrigue and romance combined. This story has the main characters introduced in book one from the Richter Academy, but if you haven't read them can easily read as a standalone.
It's about second chance at life through love. Olivia is not your usual female character, being taught to be on the other side of the law, she's not looking for love or a change, because she doesn't believe is possible . But after losing her memory she needs to find herself. Not remembering her past gives, her the opportunity to discover who she could have been , but when her memory returns she needs to learn to combine those two personalities.
Leo is a federal agent, and any involvement with Olivia is exactly what he doesn't need. But their chemistry and attraction toward each other is stronger then his sense of right and duty.
This book is heavy on the action part, but there's enough romance to satisfy the readers.

I rated this book a 3 star on GoodReads but it's been so long I don't really remember the story to leave a review. I thought I would post the star rating and clear this off my self.

This is the second in the Richter series, and while I really enjoyed the first book I think I loved this one even more!

Vegas, a high-profile trial, and an unlikely love match make for a suspenseful, can't-put-it-down, romantic read.

Olivia is helping protect a key witness in a trial, which turns out to be a very dangerous assignment. She takes a bullet meant for FBI agent Leo Grant, and is rushed to the hospital. When she wakes up she can't remember anything at all. Leo is persuaded to look after Olivia until her memory comes back. Neither of them fully know the danger they're in though, or just how impossible their budding relationship truly is. The clock is ticking...

I especially enjoyed Olivia's character and would definitely read more about her! This book will 100% keep you on your toes and you won't be able to turn the pages fast enough.

You can read this one as a stand-alone, but it builds on the last book so you'll get more out of it if you read them in order.

A Thin Disguise by Catherine Bybee follows FBI agent Leo Grant when he is working on a high-profile child trial when a woman jumps into the path of a bullet meant for him. Little does Leo know that this woman is Olivia, an ex-assassin.

Olivia wakes up in the hospital with memory loss and struggles to find answers to her past. While trying to remember her past Leo and his team try to keep her safe. Olivia and Leo start having feelings for each other but when secrets are revealed as Olivia begins to remember, could this mean the end to the relationship that was developing?

Overall, this was an exciting read that kept me on the edge of my seat and I definitely recommend!

This is Book 2 in the Richter Series and my first read by this author. And I must say that I quite liked the storyline and the characters. It is a suspenseful romance between FBI agent Leo and assassin Olivia. These likeable souls and the unique plot make for an intriguing read. It is a thrill ride with drama, action, mystery,
steam, twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. An engaging page turner with a healthy dose of sexual tension and chemistry, drama and passion, action and suspense. It can be read as a standalone but you enhance your reading pleasure if you read the other books in the series.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Grey's Promotions and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

A This Disguise is book two in the Richter series by Catherine Bybee. You could read it as a standalone, but I recommend reading Changing The Rules, because there is a continuation of the case they were working in. This series is exciting and suspenseful, with a touch of humor and sexiness. We met Leo in Changing the Rules and I have been waiting for his story! I was very intrigued by the sexy FBI agent and Catherine gave me exactly what I needed! Leo is in Vegas for the trial and sees Olivia. There's something about her that makes him look twice. Then she's taking a bullet for him, loses her memory and he ends up holed away in a cabin in the middle of nowhere with Olivia, Neil and his team. They are trying to find out who took a shot at her and if it was even meant for her. Olivia can't remember anything. Nothing. But she's softer now. Not the trained assassin she once was. She opens up to Leo and he's all for it. Until her memories come flooding back and she wants to protect the people who have become her family. She runs to keep them safe, but they aren't going to let her get away that easy. They are a team and they will do it together! This is such a great story! I couldn’t read it fast enough and I'm just loving all these characters. Looking forward to Jax's story!

Here's a shout out and sincere thank you to this author for rescuing me from a seriously long contemporary romance book drought. I was starting to feel trapped in the regency romance world simply because absolutely no modern day tales were tempting me back to this genre.

I'm intentionally not going to elaborate much here. Just know that Olivia played her James Bond-ish type role perfectly. Leo, her FBI agent love interest, had her back from the get go and soon fell head over heels for her heart, too. He was one very determined, sweet heart of a nice guy who also wasn't afraid to play hardball and cross lines to put and end to the bad guys. There's no doubt in my mind he'd take a bullet for Olivia, as well.

The supportive cast of sub characters blended into the mix perfectly. I must admit I skipped the first book due to personal preference reasons. I am super geared up to dive into book 3 though.

Thanks again, Ms. Bybee! Rest assured I'll be back hopefully sooner rather than later.

Title: A Thin Disguise, Series: Richter (Book 2), Author: Catherine Bybee, Pages: 348, stand-alone but part of a series, great James Bond-ish type heroine, good guy FBI agent hero, master of disguises, no OM/OW drama, romance safe, some graphic steamy scenes, get to know each other first, can feel MC attraction, great supporting sub character cast, writing flowed & kept me engaged.

Book 1 - Changing the Rules (Claire & Cooper)
Book 2 - A Thin Disguise (Leo & Olivia)
Book 3 - An Unexpected Distraction (Jax & Andrew)

Another great story that keeps you on your toes with excitement, and fanning yourself with the sexiness. You will be captivated from the start and not want to put this book down.

I’ve read many books by this author and loved them all. This is my first suspense thriller by her, and I have to say she’s a master in this style too. Her characterization of the heroine was superb, she made her a ruthless fighter who developed tender feelings for the hero, but never lost the edge she has as an agent.

This book is the second installment in the Richter series. I haven’t read the first, but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story. You just understand that the characters in the elite group headed by Neil MacBain feel like a family, and that they protect their own. All the heroines have been educated in the military boarding school Richter, based in Germany. Some of the students come from rich families, others are orphans. There are dicey actions being taken by the directors of the company, and they train some of the students to become fighters that are later used as killers or spies, to be hired for nefarious purposes. Such was the case of Olivia, our heroine in this story.

Olivia and Leo are both protecting a witness in a sex trafficking trial, both working from within different agencies. Olivia is working in deep undercover with the MacBain Securities and Solutions company , Leo is more visible as an FBI agent. However, they meet on the street and Leo’s spidey senses are working when he tries to get her name. A street shooting happens and Olivia protects Leo, taking the shot herself. She loses her memory from the incident, and both Leo and Neil whisk her away to protect her while she recovers.

What you learn later is a convoluted story of what Olivia’s life was like and how she was such a lonely figure. She repents from her past actions and seeks redemption, but she seeks to protect those around her by keeping away. And that is precisely what Neil and Leo want to prevent, that when she recovers her memories, she’ll disappear and they won’t be able to find her again.

The book is exciting and convoluted as the world of sleuthing is opened up to our eyes, the agents working with computers and special artifacts in their clandestine missions to try to capture the shooter and find out who’s behind it all. I found it all smokes and mirrors and hugely entertaining. I loved how the author mixed the sleuthing and the romancing and made such a fantastic story. Olivia starts as a lonely figure, and ends with a family of spies who all care for each other. She also ends with the love of her life, a man who doesn’t care what he loses in his quest to help her and protect her. You could say they are both equally ruthless, he to bring down her defensive walls, and she to find out the agent so she can protect her friends and the witness who sacrifices so much for justice. Now I can’t wait for the next one!

Tough love is the only way to go.

This picks up shortly after Claire & Cooper's book in Changing the Rules. After breaking up the prostitution ring it now goes to the court and the protecting the key witness. Enter Olivia, former Richter student and an assassin. An assassin who is trying to redeem herself one good deed at a time.

However while on her assignment she bumps into one of the undercover agents and ends up taking a bullet for him. Leo Grant FBI agent and undercover teacher at the high school where Claire was in book 1. Leo is instantly smitten however after taking that bullet Olivia can't remember anything anymore.

McBain goes above and beyond to help Olivia even if that means losing her at the end. I enjoyed the connection that Olivia & Leo have and all CB Heroes are all in and also have their woman's backs. The writing is engaging and was fun reading about the connection and the chemistry between the two of them.

I look forward to more in this series however Sasha shall always be my favourite.
