A cute and engaging story that will help engage reluctant readers with the humor that is infused in this book. The interactiveness of the story will help keep interest of readers looking for a fun read.

This book is so much fun, very interactive, and engaging. Reluctant readers will love this book, as will all kids. The activities and games throughout are clever, as well.

I didn't know that it was possible to stretch out the format of this book int' more than a hundred pages. Most pages have a single line of text and little to no illustration. Just text on a colored background. I see this being used primarily to help a kid who finds the novel length intimidating. It's a quick read but has no plot.

This book was so fun! Perfect for reluctant readers, this title pulls them right in without them realizing it! The colors are simple but contrast well, making it eye-catching. The words flow smoothly, making it feel like a conversation. There are small games throughout that engage the reader, and incorporate other skills. I would recommend this book to any elementary aged child; upper elementary ages more so for those who struggle or dislike reading. Definitely a fun, engaging book! I'll likely request a copy for my library! #TheBookNoOneWantstoRead #NetGalley #ChildrensLibrarian

This was such an interesting book. My first book to read by this author but I am looking forward to reading more by Beth Bacon. The story sticks with you long after you put the book down. Highly recommend this one!

Silly, fun book that kids will enjoy. The book communicates with the reader. Good for reluctant readers as it doesn't feel like you are actually reading. Kids of all ages will enjoy this silly book and will want to read over and over again. . It is a fast read.

Perfect for beginner readers, this book encourages silent interaction within the text. With fun images and text, students will want to read this book again and again! (recommended for ages 4-7/beginner readers)

A colorful book like this is a perfect attention-grabber to kids who think reading is boring: the book even addresses it! In the vein of books like BJ Novak's The Book With No Pictures (2014), this book is an hilarious discourse between book and reader. The book doesn't want to be facing the wall, all alone, and the reader obviously has to look busy, so the book makes an offer it's impossible to refuse: "You keep turning my pages, and I'll make it fun!" It's interactive, inviting readers to squint, sniff, and play rock, paper, scissors. At 180 pages, it may be a bit long for a storytime (but I'm still going to try it), but it's a perfect book for early chapter book readers that want to enjoy a fun read. Display with its companion book, I Hate Reading, for more laughs. Think of it as more of an interactive game than a reading chore, reluctant readers! It's bright, colorful, and so much fun.  Instabuy!

This book is so funny. At the start it kind of reminds me of the books in the movie the Pagemaster where they complain about no one reading them. And that is how this book starts out. But then the reader makes friends with the book and they have a grand ole time. This book would be so much fun at story time. Every library needs to add it to their collection.

This book is fun! Students will be very engaged by this book and you may need more than one copy. I can see this being popular with 3rd-4th graders.

Let me start off by saying the formatting on this eARC did not work for my eReader, so I didn't get the full effect of the book as it was intended for the reader.

That being said, the story was cute at some points and head scratching in others. It seemed almost TOO anti-reading in spots, like the book was trying too hard to be funny and it went too far.

It might be good for a reluctant reader, but then again it might re-enforce the idea that reading is not fun if the reader is literal minded and doesn't get the joke. They also might get the joke and be insulted by it. Delicate balance and I think it would take knowing the child this is being suggested to well enough to know how they might react to it.

3, you need to know the audience, stars.

My thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins Children's Books for an eARC copy of this to read and review.

A farce of a book to make any reader or listener laugh. Similar to The Book with No Pictures and There's a Monster at the End of this Book, The Book No One Wants to Read breaks the literary 4th wall and is the book talking to the reader. It is a book that no one wants to read and tries to make a deal with the reader who doesn't want to be reading. The book suggests that they goof off and make people "think" that the reader is reading and then the book will also be a little less bored while sitting on the shelf. Even though intended to be a game between the book and reader, this has the potential to be a great read aloud that kids would also love to check out.

I don't know who would buy this book. It's got the word count of a picture book, but the concept doesn't work if it's read out loud. It has activities, but is a really short activity book. Maybe it would work as a small gift book? I'd want to know the trim size and price. It's pretty graphically, but I just don't see that many people buying it other than libraries.

Great for a reluctant reader to get them interested in a book. Reminds me of "Book With No Pictures".

Unable to rate this book. I haven't been able to open it on my Kindle and my school blocks netgalley downloads. Sorry.

A simple premise, a book that wants to be read so much that it is willing to conspire with its reader to fake the act of reading, leads to laugh-out-loud pages of fun, including games, mazes, and even scratch and sniff. The bright but simple colors and pictures are very appealing, and become more elaborate as the book continues, echoing how much fun the book itself is having being read so much. This was a hilarious and enjoyable book that will make a reader of any child, even the most reluctant.

This book had my 6 year old in stitches! He is a somewhat reluctant reader at times, and the books he enjoys are typically comics, potty humor or anything nonsensical. This one was right up his alley!
Even though a couple of the jokes didn't land (rock, paper, scissors), he loved the book and immediately asked to purchase a paper copy as soon as it's released, and we will buy extras to share with friends!

As just some dude, being a youth librarian, in a public library, I don't know where this book would sit on the shelf. It has the simplicity and "call and response" nature of a classic picture book, but it's *176* pages long. Amazon ages it between 6-10, but I can't imagine it going into the juvenile fiction area either because no 5-grader is going to be drawn to the book.

The book is just TOO LONG. It gets repetitive and boring. I don't think the type of story genre Beth Bacon picked can stretch to 175 pages. I think this book would A++ benefit from cutting some pages.

While this book was a tad too long for my liking, I did enjoy it overall. I love how interactive it was and how it was able to tell a story and give a lesson without using illustrations. It was very creative in that way! I do believe that a lot of kids will enjoy this book and find that they can relate to it.
