I'm sure this is a good book but honestly I couldn't read it, the writing style wasn't that good. It felt lacking and wasn't pulling me in. Also, I didn't feel that the characters were developed enough but, I do want to thank Netgallery for this arc and I'm positive there some people were absolutely adore this book because of the cute concept and plot.

I will preface this by saying that while romance novels may not be my first choice, a unique love story can be absolutely wonderful. After reading The Dating Dare, I get as though I had heard this same generic plot in countless other books and Rom-Coms. The guy, a self-proclaimed “player” who is moving across the globe in a few short months and the girl, a headstrong but fragile female lead who has been heartbroken in the past and “won’t let it happen again!” Fortunately, there are cases where the words used to demonstrate the characters passions can help save a lackluster story, however this novel did not have that either. It was cute in places, and made me cringe in others, but it was truly not emotion-inspiring and will be a forgotten love story within the sea of so many like it, both before and after it’s time. I hope this does not make me sound bitter, but this unoriginal romance was just not for me.

I really wanted to like this. But after the first few chapters, it just fell flat and became uninteresting. Apparently it is part of a series and I don’t believe it should be a standalone. Thank you to netgalley for the arc.

This novel was incredibly heartwarming and you really just fall in love with both Seth and Tara. It really is the best kind of fluffy love romance. I found myself getting so engulfed in there relationship and that something I think this can be reflected in both the storyline and the authors writing style. Overall really enjoyed this novel and I would defined consider it to be one of my favourites in a long time!

I had a really tough time getting into this book, particularly because it didn’t spend any time with character development in the beginning of the book. As a result, I probably wouldn’t recommend it.

A follow up to A Sweet Mess, this romance follows Aubrey's best friend, Tara, and her brother-in-law, Seth. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first one. While A Sweet Mess was peppered with cheesy that often took me out of the story, these characters felt more laid-back and a little more fun. The writing was cleaner and more engaging. The premise of them completing the dating dare was fun and a spin on the trope, and by the time the characters were falling in love for real, I was really rooting for them to get together.

This was a solid, enjoyable read for me!

Tara and Seth are both people who have been previously burned by exes and have no interest in a long term relationship, especially because Seth is moving to Paris for a job in a month. But they are undeniably attracted to each other...so Seth dares Tara to go out on four dates with him. They just can’t fall in love. Easy peasy, right?

Some things I noticed about this book: I’m pretty sure it’s a follow up to her previous book, as those characters’ story is referenced a few times, in that classic my-next-book-will-follow-this-main-character’s-bestie trend, which I really like. I’ll definitely be seeking that first story since I read out of order. I will say, most of the time books like this briefly explain what happened in the previous story so you aren’t lost - I was a little lost. The story was referenced, but not explained. There was even a scene that featured two characters (Aria and Lucien) in which I had no clue who those people were and it wasn’t explained how they all knew each other. This didn’t really detract from my experience, but I wish I knew that going in - I probably would’ve tried to get my hands on the first book.

In terms of story and character: I really liked both main characters. I enjoyed their circle of people (Tara’s big brothers, mostly, and what we see of Seth’s brother) and their backstories. Their banter was fun, their attraction was evident, and their ending was, of course, happy.

Overall a worthy rom-com/modern romance read that I enjoyed!

The cover and Title had Sally Thorne vibes so I went into this book excited. But, it just wasn't my cup of tea. The flirting was cringy and even the internal dialogue was awkward. To be fair I DNF but I just couldn't continue.

I absolutely adored this book! I couldn't help but be completely enthralled by this story! I also think I might be slightly (or not so slightly) in love with Seth. Quick, fun read!

This was a cute story by Jayci! I enjoyed the premise of the book and how Tara didn’t want to be in a serious relationship, even when she met Seth Kim! I loved reading through their casual fling and felt my heart flutter when Tara’s heart fluttered too. Overall this was a good read and I enjoyed it!

Another cute story by Jayci Lee.
Tara and Seth are cute. He is all "don't fall in love with me because I am leaving" And She is all "I don't do relationships". So neither is looking for the other one. But then, they realize what they have been missing by holding back.

I like this series, It is cute, and clean.

So this was a sweet, fluffy romance read, perfect with Valentine's Day being right around the corner. However, when the book was 96% finished, the author then decides to escalate a past bad boyfriend to being abusive. I hope that gets edited out of the final publication, because it didn't add to the story and almost felt like an afterthought. We had already delved into past relationships and how they motivated the characters and influenced their behaviors, so it just seemed unnecessary and a potential trigger for some readers.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The concept of this book is really fun, but unfortunately the plot just didn't hold up. Like another reviewer noted, romances need to be character-driven, and both of the leads kind of felt like exaggerations of stereotypes. I couldn't understand the motivations behind many of their actions, which made it hard to root for them. Ultimately, this book just wasn't for me, but hopefully will find a place with other readers.

This book was light and fun. If you enjoyed A
Sweet Mess, you will love the second book. Tara and Seth are super sweet characters.
