The Dating Dare was a light, sweet read. I thoroughly enjoyed Tara and Seth’s story, and reading about the fun, creative dates was a treat. This book missed the mark for me both in the individual character development and some nuggets that felt repetitive. Other than that, I liked this one!

A Sweet Mess was one of my favourite books of 2020 and so I was excited to read the sequel featuring 2 characters from the previous book.

I adored it!

Jayci Lee has the magic touch when it comes to writing light hearted romance with complex characters having to navigate their independent emotional turmoil in order to be happy together.

I love that there was not much external conflict and so we could really focus on Tara and Seth and them figuring out their feelings for each other.

A quality sequel and I can't wait to read more by this author.

I enjoyed the first book in this series by Jayci Lee, so I expected I would enjoy this one as well. I was not disappointed. Tara and Seth were a delightful couple. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

This book is extremely cuteeeee! Great 4S ( sweet, soft, swoon,smile) plus feel good reading which should be consumed with delicious bottle of chilled Sonoma-Cutrer rose, Ritz Toasted Chips and red pepper humus! I know how to turn my reading into a delicious book date, a literature feast, don’t I?

I saw some mixed reviews and I asked myself why people didn’t like this book so much! It’s so strange! I know there are cliches and a little cheesiness in the story but aren’t those most popular romcoms also having all of them? You know from the beginning how the story will improve, how MCs fall for them, how they fall apart, a little groveling and angst moments later we always get our marvelous happy ending!
And yes, this book works incredibly well with this formula! So you know what you will get in the end: extremely happy mood and smiling face. Aren’t we needing this kind of relaxation in our lives?

I also read Sweet Mess, but I’m telling you, I actually loved Tara and Seth a little bit more! Both of them are easy to connect and root for!

Their story is simple: they met at Tara’s best friend’s wedding. Seth was the youngest brother of the groom. Seth is leaving the town in a month for a new job in Paris and he offers dating dare including four dates.

Both of them are already suffering from old relationship baggages so they don’t look for anything serious but this dating dare seems like harmless game. No one can hurt. No one can fall for each other with four dates, right? You already know your answer and you already know their predicaments.

I enjoyed their dating experiences and their chemistry was steamy, nope, steamy is not enough to define it! They’re fiery, combustible, volcanic! Just get ready to hyperventilate when you follow their intimate and blooming romance!

Overall: Easy, fun, soft, so much likable four star reading for me. Highly recommended beach read or pop corn& wine read! I absolutely had so much fun!

I could see this book attracting to young teenagers but the plot is just so sugary sweet it makes my teeth AND brain ache.

I was really intrigued by the premise of this book. I have not read the first book in the series, so it is possible that the major character development takes place in that book. This book left me struggling to understand who the characters are, both as people but sometimes even logistically. There are supporting characters that show up and appear to be beloved to one/both of the main characters, but I didn’t have any idea who they were and then they left the story again.

I also felt like the story tried to be an enemy to lovers tale, but then didn’t really follow through. Then I felt like it was trying to be a forbidden/hidden relationship but didn’t really follow through on that either. Then it seemed to try to switch to instalove. I had to really push through to finish it, but I am relieved I’m done because it took me quite a while to get through.

A hot beer brewer meets a cute fashion photographer at a wedding. Sure he's moving, but no strings attached sounds perfect, until its not.

I really enjoyed this book and found the story cute. Everyone is gorgeous. Everyone is successful. Pure fantasy fluff in an enjoyable package.

Cute, funny, a good light and fun read!! I really enjoyed the progression of Tara and Seth's relationship throughout this book! I did not read A Sweet Mess #1 and I am usually the type of person who likes to do things in order. With that being said, I would have liked to have the extra added background, but this can definitely read as a standalone. Overall this was a fun novel with very likeable characters!!

Though I didn't realize there was another book in this series, it wasn't super important to have read that one first in order to understand the plot. Overall, it was an interesting plot with a cute story line! If you're looking for a quick read that is light, this is the book for you!

This was an awesome story. I wish the characters were a little more complex... I wanted to know them more. The banter back and forth and flirting was really fun. Their sexual chemistry was great.

The Dating Dare is the second in a series by Jaycee Lee focusing on Seth and Tara love story. This book includes the original characters from The Sweet Mess and the same amount of charm.
Both Seth and Tara have been burned by their first loves and have the baggage to prove it. What starts as a causal fling with short term fling potential, it quickly morphs into something deeper and potentially long lasting. This is something neither Seth nor Tara are ready to face and in true rom-com fashion, there’s plenty of conflict and a “will they or won’t they” before the happily ever after.
Quick beach read, both cheesy and predictable, but still enjoyable.

A solid 2 1/2, elevated to 3.

It was a cute story, but it has so much unnecessary language. I definitely knocked off a star for that.

I didn't realize there was a first book in this series when I received this one. That being said, I don't think you need to have read it as this stands alone pretty well.

It's a cute and quick read - which is great when you're looking for something that isn't terribly heavy. There's definitely some cheesy dialogue, but Tara and Seth are fun and likable characters, so I was rooting for them to be together.

I'm sorry to say that I almost DNF'd this at 29% and I had to force myself to skim through the rest. I did not like this AT ALL. I don't know if it’s me but the writing was very childish, if that's the right word? There was just SO much telling rather than showing and spelling out of feelings and emotions that we could've understood without an explanation. The characters also did not have a lot of depth to me... The dialogue was annoying, they also "told not showed" a lot to each other, Tara was so whiny, from the beginning.... And I never really felt like she hated Seth? She just liked to complain. I almost thought this book should've been intended for a younger audience but there's some steamy stuff so. There's that.

Two people jaded by their first loves. Neither wanting to fall in love again. A game of truth or dare after a few too many drinks, leads to The Dating Dare.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It's a nice fluffy romance, not too steamy, but still sexy. The characters were great, likable and enjoyable to read.

I did feel like yelling at them sometimes, like just talk to each other. The characters were very self aware, so the fact that they even get into this situation is bizarre.

I couldn't finish this one. I love that Tara runs her own brewery - an awesome idea! - but frankly its silly she doesn't want anyone to see her with Seth. why? The setup just doesn't work for me. Their dialogue doesn't feel natural either. And why do three adult kids still live with their parents??? There may be a good reason, but Lee hasn't left any intriguing clues - I can't read any further. I'm sure my library will purchase, but I can't recommend this one.

i liked this one but i didn't likie it enough to keep reading the series if there bes more. so that's the tea on that bisnass.
