I continue to be a B.A. Paris fan! Really enjoyed this one!!
Can’t await to recommend it to people for their summer beach/vacation reads.
Alice is trying to leave behind a painful past for a new start with her partner in an idyllic area of London. A gated community with beautiful homes where all the neighbors know one another . But the change isn't what she hoped and all of the sudden she is surrounded by mysteries and is suspicious of everyone around her.
The Therapist is a compulsive read. There are plenty of characters to be suspicious of and some red herrings too.
Will be on everyone’s summer reading list. So excited I got to read it early. Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy.

I typically read psychological thrillers, I have enjoyed most of B.A. Paris’s books. I found this to feel lingering. I wanted more action. The story was good. I was shocked by Alice’s reveal at the end. I wasn’t shocked by the villain. While I knew that someone was getting into the house, I felt Alive should have been more proactive at not putting herself in danger.

A twisty turning novel where nothing is as it seem.
Alice has moved into a new house with a man she has not known all that long. It is a small enclave in a gated community and she finds it hard to make friends. Alice wants to make connections, but not only does her partner want her to hold off, the neighbors also seem distant.
A small neighborhood in london, a murder, who are these people. Just when you think you know what is going on, the story shifts again. The novel was a little lengthy for the story but kept me engaged.

Dark twisted domestic thriller. When Alice moves into a new house with her boyfriend Leo, she is slightly uneasy. She isn’t sure why, but she just doesn’t like the house or the community that is a big circle that allows everyone to see what the residents are up to. When she learns the gruesome history of the house and her boyfriends deception upon getting the house, Alice dislikes it even more. As Alice tries to get to know the neighbors and give the place a chance she encounters a stranger who lies about his identity, but may give her more insight to the house. Excellent psychological thriller that is impossible to put down.

This slow-paced mystery story was painful to read from start to finish. The main character is needy, fickle, paranoid and sickeningly self-righteous, on top of being not-too-bright, and she doesn’t change much over the course of the story, so there isn’t even that to redeem this disappointing novel. The dialogue is stilted, followed by overly flowery passages, making the writing pretty uneven, and even the (highly improbable) unexpected twists at the end couldn’t salvage this book. I had a hard time with the quirky reasoning behind the main character’s sudden desire to solve the mystery of a murder: “My sister died and her name was Nina, so now when I hear of a Nina, I’m automatically interested in that person.” Overall, not much to recommend this one.

The Therapist by B.A. Paris was fantastic. I had read her book "Behind Closed Doors" so I know I needed to check this one out. I was not disappointed. Definitely had me on the edge of my seat the entire book. At some point or another I suspected every character in the story. Great ending as well. You'll love it!

Another great one by B.A. Paris. Quick-moving plot with twists. Many thanks to the publisher for granting my wish! I appreciate receiving an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my opinions.

I now have another "must read" author. I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though I figured it out halfway through. Interesting characters. Can't wait to read all the others by this author.

B. A. Paris delivers another gripping mystery. Rich characters and interesting story will keep readers guessing until the end!

This was a quick and thrilling read! There were so many twists and surprises and the author did a great job of building suspense and suspicion. As a reader, I did not know who to trust, so I felt some of what Alice's mindset must have been. I look forward to reading more by B.A. Paris.

Thia Author can do NO wrong! I highly recommend this book. I literally could not read fast enough. Everything this Genre should be and more!!
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me the thrill of reading early.

Upon reading the premise of B.A. Paris’ latest novel, “The Therapist,” I could not wait to delve between the pages of this mystery/suspense thriller. While I had some issues with the characters themselves, especially the main character, Alice, I found the story itself to be compelling, drawn in by the numerous secrets and lies that I was eager to unravel. It was not until much later in the novel when I began to suspect the true culprit, but I was still clueless as to that culprit’s actual motive until the moment of the big reveal. I love a good mystery that keeps me guessing, and “The Therapist” definitely checked that box for me!

I loved this book! It was such a fast-paced psychological thriller, and the twists and turns made me not want to put the book down! I read it in 2 days because I had to find out what happened. I was constantly surprised. I would definitely recommend this book, and I look forward to reading more by this author.

I have loved all of B.A. Paris’ books so I was excited for this latest book by her. It started off great but about 1/2 way through, I felt like it really dragged so this one was a bit of a disappointment. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.

Another great read from BA Paris! When Alice moves into “The Circle” with her partner she is excited to begin their new lives together. It’s a chance to be a proper couple. Alice wants to settle in and establish new friends and a place for herself straight away. So when she suggests having a drinks party to get to know other residents of her neighborhood she is a bit perturbed to learn that one guest she allowed in was not in fact on the guest list. An assumption was made. Besides, none of her other neighbour’s remember seeing him. But the most shocking of all may be the question she’s asked: “What does it feel like to live in a house where the former owner (a woman) was murdered?” This is information Alice did NOT have. Why would her partner keep this from her? It’s unforgivable. Who is her partner??? Does she even know him at all. Then the mystery guest reveals himself and his excuse is plausible. Alice assumed he was the husband of one of her new neighbours and mystery man just went with it as he wanted to gain access to Alice anyway. Turns out, he is a private investigator working to clear the dead wife’s husband’s name. Sadly for him, he has committed suicide and can no longer speak for himself. But strange things are happening in the house, clothes disappearing then reappearing, laundered. Other little clues left for Alice and apparently Alice is being visited in the middle of the night while alone in the house (as her partner commutes for work Sunday to Thursday and isn’t at home during these days). Alice comes to rely on Thomas, the
PI and she is now fully invested in the nursery investigation. After all, the real murderer may also be her home invader........ Taut, suspenseful and filled with characters you live to hate, this was a great read! Thank you for my ARC! Pick up B.A. Paris’ latest, or any of her previous works!

B.A. Paris returns to her psychological suspense roots in The Therapist, an absolutely flawless, addictive and utterly compelling read. With a ratcheting sense of unease and suffused with dread, you won’t be able to put it down until you’ve inhaled every last page.
The story follows Alice, who learned that the house she’s moved into with her partner was previously the scene of a murder. And the more she learns about the other residents of The Circle, the more afraid she is that the murderer is still among them. Addictive and claustrophobic, this is a perfect summer read about the secrets hidden just beneath the surface of a seemingly perfect neighborhood. I couldn’t put it down.
Thank you so much to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for my advance copy.
WOW! What can I say beyond that? WOW! This book was so good and grabbed me from the start, so much so that i read it in two sittings. This is another great psychological thriller book by BA Paris.
Alice and Leo move into a gated community with all the homes centered around "The Circle." Things aren't as they seem and the home that Leo purchased has a disturbing history that Alice begins to investigate. Her investigation leads her to question all of her neighbors that she is trying to befriend.
If BA Paris' books continue to be as engrossing as they have been, I wish she would write faster!

Loved The Therapist! Gave me a Big Little Lies TV show meets JP Delaney's The Girl Before. As a B.A. Paris, fan, I didn't love her last one, The Dilemma, but this one is stellar!

I’m a huge fan of B A Paris, so I had high expectations going in to this book. The Therapist was so good; I devoured it in 2 days! It’s the perfect amount of drama and suspense with an ending I didn’t see coming. I will be telling everyone I know about this book!!

ugh.
Hardcore Paris fans may be scrambling to up the review tally here, but this one was painful. And I’m usually on the bandwagon.
Alice and her partner Leo move into an exclusive, gated London neighborhood {creatively} named The Circle (which is just like it sounds - 12 homes, all rounded by gates with a square in the middle). The couple has been doing the long distance thing for a while and decided to take the plunge {as a test ride for 6 months}, as Leo purchased the home for them while Alice rents out her country cottage.
After a few nights, Alice learns that gasp! a woman named Nina {A THERAPIST} was murdered in this home by her husband {who later committed suicide in prison}. How did she find out this information? Thomas, a private detective, had slipped through the elusive gates and crashed their housewarming party, pretending to be a neighbor. He later tells the truth, explaining that Nina’s real killer is at large.
Lots of boring things ensue. Alice becomes obsessed with finding Nina’s real killer {also in part because her sister died and was called Nina}. There are a bunch of neighbors and their husbands who are suspects. Alice also does some detective work on her own, including into Leo’s background.
More boring stuff continues including a bunch of red herrings that are quite obvious. The book picks up at about 90%. Yes. That’s where it gets good. And then at about 94% the excitement is back down to it’s original lackluster performance.
This book really let me down {could you tell?}. Alice’s character development ceased to exist until essentially the epilogue. What could have been a great story was a great let down.
1.5 ⭐️ because I’m feeling generous.
