If you ever thought of moving into a home where a crime was committed, reading this mystery novel make you think twice about doing so. An English couple (Alice and Leo) has moved into such a home, and she finds out Leo hasn't been truthful about the history of their home. Then she finds out more about his past, along with trying to track down what actually happened literally in her bedroom with the previous residents. Along the way I kept thinking, why is the title of this book about "the therapist?" The key to this person's identity is what solves the murder/suicide of the previous owners, and along the way you get to meet the neighbors of what once was a quiet gated cul-de-sac in the middle of London, and the roles that each neighbor played in the crime. It is another delightful book from BA Paris, who plumbs the depths of a couple's relationship in interesting and unusual ways. If you aren't a fan of her novels, you will become as obsessed as her main characters into reading more of them.

The Therapist was phenomenal! I have loved everything B A Paris has written in the past so I knew this story would be enthralling, I just did not realize how much of this story would throw me into a spiral of guessing! I absolutely loved how I could not predict anything that was going to happen! I felt this story was a slower build but wow did the ending not disappoint! The ending had me questioning I just read and lead be back to all these clues I did not put together! B A Paris does it again with her incredible writing!

B.A. Paris' latest novel is a who done it filled with enough murders to satisfy any reader's taste in stories about serial killers. And, the author does set up one of her usual well designed plots to keep her fan club up all night and drinking enough coffee to finish the book. No surprise for readers of Ms. Paris' novels: it is a well thought out logical progression of twisting and turning events leading to a logical, but surprising ending.
Alice and Leo are successful adults with separate careers who have met and found mutual attraction sufficient to cause them to move in together. Alice is a translator of books which she does from the vantage point of her own home and when Leo suggests that they buy a house together in a better neighborhood she has no problem in going along with the idea. Leo quickly buys a house in an upscale gated community without consulting Alice. She is forced to accept the purchase and the two move in.
Not to long before it comes out that the house was on the market at a low price due to problems that it has and Alice begins to want out of the area. Oh yes, the general area where the gated community is located has been plagued by a serial killer for many years. We are made aware of that plus the fact that Alice's sister and two little girls were killed in an auto accident. Both factors are thrown into the mix and causative of Alice's mental trauma and with the problems of the house itself makes her desperate to return to her old neighborhood.
This is the first book I have read by the author and after a good night's sleep I can begin to look for more by her as well as recommending that readers looking for a good murder mystery get the next available B.A. Paris book and become a fan of hers.

I always look forward to reading a new B.A. Paris novel and was excited when I received an early copy of The Therapist to read. Once I got started it was hard to put down and I read it in a day. I love good story with secrets, trying to work out who was telling the truth. There were plenty of liars in this one and it kept me guessing.

Alice and Leo have been in a long distance relationship for sometime now. When Leo buys a new home in the gated community of The Circle, in London, Alice is excited to start a new chapter of her life and make friends with her neighbours. But not everything is as it seems and she soon learns a dark secret about her new home and its previous owner. She soon finds herself obsessed with finding out what happened and who knows the truth.

A real page turner of a psychological/domestic thriller.

Amazing book!! So many twists you will be dizzy!

I received this book from St Martin’s Publishing Group via NetGalley. I would like to thank them for allowing me to read the ARC of The Therapist.

I was intrigued by the characters and the story from the first chapter. This author knows how to catch your interest and never let it go. The characters personalities are established quickly and I found myself liking them all (even if they aren’t nice people ). Alice and Leo have moved in together for the first time into a big beautiful house in a gated community in London. She wants to get to know all the neighbours while he wants to lay low. From their get to you cocktail party, things start to unravel in Alice and Leo’s lives. Alice doesn’t know who to believe or trust and this makes for all twists in the story. I would have liked to see more of Leo in the book and I found that his character seems to get lost. He was missing work and staying holed up in his room to help find out the truth but the author didn’t follow through with this.
Overall it is a quick moving storyline that will keep you thinking. I found the book helped me escape from my world for a few hours and concentrate on who the bad guy was.

Alice is excited to start a new life in London, moving away from the place of tragedy that has consumed her life for 20 years. Leo purchased a house is a small gated neighborhood and as Alice starts her life with him everything seems perfect. Alice learns that there was a terrible murder that took place in her house and it seems the neighbors are hiding something. As Alice keeps asking questions, things do not add up and she soon suspects everyone except for the one who did the deed.

B.A. Paris is one of my "go-to" authors as she never disappoints! This one was fabulous as we meet Alice and Leo who have just moved in together in a small community called The Circle where everyone knows their neighbors and there is tight security. But when Alice learns a woman was murdered in their house, things begin to get dicey as she realizes Leo knew but didn't tell her. What else is he hiding from her and what do the neighbors know that they aren't telling? Just like her others, Paris grabs you by the throat from the beginning and shakes you around like a rag doll until the very end, with twists and turns, and secrets that you can't uncover until she reveals the shocking conclusion. One of her best I believe!

Thanks to the publisher, St. Martin’s Press, the author and Netgalley for the advance reader edition of the book. Once again, B. A. Paris has produced a dark and twisty story of love, betrayal and unexpected endings. I did have a suspicion of how it might end, but wasn’t convinced until the last twist. I love that she can take seemingly ordinary flawed characters and make you root for them and want to help them solve the mystery. We follow Alice, who is moving in with her boyfriend Leo, to a supposedly secure gated community to start their life together in London. She’s leaving behind her hometown, but not the grief she feels over the loss of her parents and sister in an accident. The house that they are moving into has stories of its own which do nothing to settle Alice’s thoughts about her family. She can’t seem to hit her rhythm here until she finds a mystery to occupy her thoughts and energize her to be a hero to someone she doesn’t even know. This is good escapist fiction; the best kind to get into and get lost in. We have the mystery, the neighborhood dynamics, a newbie trying to make friends, a boyfriend who may have stories of his own and our main character who is trying to figure out her place in the world and make the best of what she’s been dealt. Great work B. A. Paris! #stmartinspress #baparis #mysterythriller #theTherapist

"The Therapist" is an intriguing read. I'm giving it four stars.

B.A. Paris writes a suspense novel of the highest order. There are so many characters in this book that I never formulated a hard opinion of who villain really was. I was led to the conclusion, but then bombed by a BIG surprise. In retrospect, the clues were there . . . . I was just so engrossed in the various characters that I missed many of them,.

Another good B.A. Paris novel. Please keep 'em coming!

Wow--fabulous! Although suspense is the ultimate star of this book, I also loved the more mellow parts--the domestic dramas, evolving and crumbling friendships and romances, and the intriguing setting of a London gated community. The main character, Alice, is quite likable, with the first-person narration making her theories and fears more understandable as the reader gains insight into her thoughts and reasoning. By the end, you join Alice in being a little suspicious of almost everyone. When the truth comes out, it's very satisfying, with all the loose ends tied up and everything making sense. I actually would like to read this book again so I can fully appreciate how cleverly everything was set up. Highly recommended! Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an e-ARC of this wonderful novel.

This one was kind of all over the place but not necessarily in a bad way. The pacing was great, I always just wanted to keep reading a little more & Alice’s suspicions were rather infectious. While not my favorite of this author’s books I did enjoy it overall & would recommend it to any fans of hers.
3.5-3.75 stars

I knew I would like this book, I didn't know just how much I would LOVE it. I love books that keep you guessing from start to finish! It didn't end the way I had thought it would.

When Alice and Leo move to an elite area known as " The Circle" its very clear that things are not what they seem. Alice is eager to form friends quickly yet feels torn and wonders if she should trust anyone there?

It's a fast paced thriller full of twists and turns, secrets and lies. Makes one ask themselves " How far will you go to pretend to be someone you are not" Can we ever fully trust anyone "

Enjoy this WILD ride, buckle up! You are going to LOVE this book!

B.A. Paris has done it again! This is the best book I have read so far this year. I love the writing style and the edge of your seat suspense that you can be sure to find in any of B.A. Paris’s books. I love books that keep you guessing, and this one really did.

B.A. Paris has a way of sucking you in right away. Her writing style is so good, giving you tension, and nervousness while trying to figure out what is really going on. I thought this book was excellent and I didn't figure it out until the main character Alice did. Highly recommended!!

OMG. B.A. Paris can do no wrong. I mean it y’all, every single one of her novels I usually finish in a day because I cannot stop reading them. The characters are fantastic and I am always surprised by the ending. This novel was stunning... loved the main character (she had so much depth) and truthfully I completely was at a loss for words at the end. She always ties up the endings with a perfect bow. MUST READ.

Alice and her partner, Leo, move into a London home in a gated community of twelve homes. Leo prefers privacy, but Alice, who works at home, wants to befriend her neighbors. She holds a party at which a man she believes is one of the neighbors attends and only she sees him. She later learns that Leo got the house for such a great price because a woman was murdered in it. Her husband was considered to have murdered her and then killed himself. Alice, who has the deaths of her parents and sister in an automobile accident twenty years earlier in her background, can’t handle this news. She begins to look into the murder and also Leo’s past history. I won’t go any further because of spoilers, but the plot is engrossing and will easily capture the reader’s attention. Thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC for an honest review.

and her boyfriend Leo are starting a life together at the posh housing community The Circle. This gated community has more than a few secrets behinds its walls and as they start to unravel Alice wonders how well she knows anyone. Desperate for a friend and a confidant the dashing private investigator seems her only hope. Will he help her find the answers she needs or will she be left with more questions?! I love this authors books and as usual finished this one with in a day. My brain was as scattered as Alice’s constantly suspecting everyone and shocked by the surprise ending. A fun paced paced white knuckle read!

This book was boring and tedious. It was nothing but a string of conversations over wine, coffee, or dessert. The only action involved the main character bumping into her neighbors, inviting the neighbors for drinks, or calling her friends. The mystery itself fell flat, with little to no developments throughout the story. The main character was also super annoying and childish.

This was one of those books that hooked me from the start, and kept me turning pages to find out what would happen in the end. You get just enough information to start to form an idea of what’s going on, but then the next bit of info contradicts your theory, and you have to start over. I find books that can do that well, like this one, a real pleasure to read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
