I really enjoyed reading this book by Danielle steel. I felt like I knew the characters in the story I .enjoyed reading about places that I’ve never been and about the car racing.industry. It is always so interesting in her books to read how after very tragic things happen people can find true happiness again if they try . I loved that she was very close to her son and always put family and friends above all else.

A tragic, enthralling novel, Danielle Steel's latest pulls at your heartstrings. Maggie's life is full of men who like danger, starting with her father and her brother, growing up. Then she finds herself attracted to a boy in high school who is also drawn to danger. Will she ever escape them and learn to live with the loss that comes with it?

Another great Danielle Steel book. The story is about love, loss, and second chances. This book started out a bit more depressing than some, with what seemed like tragedy after tragedy, but of course there was a happily ever after.
Maggie has known tragedy and heartbreak from an early age. Her mother never recovered from the pain of losing both her father and brother, and drilled into Maggie to always play it safe. When Maggie meets Paul, he tells her his dreams of becoming a racer, and she knows she could never be with someone who takes such risks. Maggie meets and marries Brad, and they have a safe comfortable life together. But when tragedy strikes again, can Maggie pick up the pieces of her life and reinvent herself? And what happens when she meets Paul 30 years later? His life is full of danger and risks. How will she ever learn to accept that?
This was a fast read, total beach book. I enjoyed it, wish it had a bit less tragedy.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a super quick read. As usual the author invites you into to the characters lives and you become part of the book. I found this book to be a little different than her traditional novels as she tackles some very current and hot topics. I think that this is one of her best books and enjoyed reading it!

This was an amazing story, Maggie Margaret Kelly has faced the heartache of losing her father who was a test pilot in the Air Force. Her mother tries to move on and meets someone that she hopes will make her and her children happy. Maggie’s stepfather is nice but he is not very exiting like her father was. Maggie’s mother tells her that her boyfriend Paul Gilmore will only break her heart with his thrill seeking life. Maggie listens to her mother and settles down with Brad Mackenzie, an account. They have a wonderful if not boring life that ends in tragedy. Maggie has to pick up the pieces for her and her teenage son Aden and find out if she can love again. Danielle Steel wrote a beautiful book that moves from Chicago to Rome, Paris and onto Monaco where a night in Monte Carlo again changes Maggie’s life. Five Stars !!! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the honor to read an ARC by one of my favorite authors!.

Danielle Steel bring us the story of Maggie Kelly and her family. Her idyllic life changes drastically when her father dies in an accident while serving in the Air Force. causing her mother to withdraw from life and any sign of adventure. She ends up marrying someone "safe" and Maggie learns that the men in her life who crave that adventure and thrill are dangerous and will only break her. Because of this, she learns to let go of her first love and find someone who was stable and safe. Together with their son, they live a quiet and stable life.

She must go outside of her comfort zone in order to find her inner strength and face her fears and her past when tragedy strikes her family. Her decisions will forever change her life. Will these changes bring her true happiness and love? Or will her fears be too much for her to handle reuniting with her first love after all these years?

Danielle Steel brings us the story of Maggie and Paul. Go along with them on an adventure that starts from high school then losing touch when they each go on their separate and then reuniting years later. She brings you along for the ride as you experience what Maggie goes through with each devastating blow in her life. I enjoyed seeing where life took Maggie as she started to break out of her shell and comfort zone and discover what else the world has in store for her.

I look forward to the next adventure that Danielle Steel will bring me. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Publishing - Ballantine Delacorte Press for this privilege.

3.5 Stars

I have not read a Danielle Steel book in years. I had quit reading romance books until about 2014. Thanks to Amazon and the ereader I was gifted, I started reading romance once again. So when I saw this book listed, I excitedly requested an ARC. Not only was it by THE Danielle Steel, but the storyline included an older couple as well as racing. I loved the cover and the dedication.

Unfortunately, I did not get into the book until about the 50% mark and it did not reach me on an emotional level until closer to the end of the book. The first half of the book felt like a bunch of facts setting up the second half of the story. There were short sentences and a lot of repetition. I didn't *feel* Brad and Maggie's love for one another. It was told to us. Honestly, if it had been something Maggie was trying to convince herself of instead of a true love first marriage, I would have accepted that better. Every now and again, she would add another's point of view right in the middle of a paragraph. That through me off a few times until I got use to it. I had to force myself to carry on.

But I'm glad I pushed on. I really did like the characters. I wanted to see how the second chance relationship developed between Paul and Maggie. I loved it! And Aden was a favorite character. I really enjoyed the ending.

*Thank you NetGalley and Delacorte Press (An imprint of Random House) for the ARC of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review.

In Nine Lives by Danielle Steel, Maggie's fighter pilot father dies in a crash. Her mother never recovers, though she remarries, and lives in a world of fear. Maggie and her brother live in that world with her mother, who always believes the worst is right around the corner. Maggie falls for Paul, a daredevil who races motorcycles, while they are both still in high school. Her mother warns her about the dangers and things trail off between the two after graduating as Paul goes off to persue adventure. After her brother dies in an accident similar to their father's, her mother dies not long after.

Maggie makes a safe life for herself and marries Brad, whose family she works for. They raise a son, who craves more adventure than Maggie cares for. After surviving a plane crash that takes Brad's life, Maggie finds herself closing in on herself in a way similar to her mother's reacation to her father's death. A visit from a friend helps Maggie snap back to life and eventually she goes on a long trip.

A visit to a casino in Monaco reunites Maggie and Paul. He is a famous racecar driver and despite all of her reservations, Maggie lets Paul back into her life and heart. Paul's risky business venures and dangerous lifestyle threaten to end their relationship for good,

Thank you toRandom House Publishing- Ballantine and NetGalley for this ARC.

Another good Danielle Steel book. Had tears because of the things of life thrown at at a young girl and then again in her adult life. Seemed to be a lot for one person to have to deal with. Thankfully having one good female friend helped her through her difficult times and meeting Aden her long ago high school boyfriend. Enjoyed their time together but was surprised and glad at how it ended.

Sometimes Danielle Steel books are a little depressing with a sad ending but this one actually had a nice ending and very positive. It was a little sad in the beginning and middle but it did get more happy. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Very short and quick and it did keep the reader entertained. A very cute romance novel that has two adults in their older years fall in love again. They reconnect after 30 years and to see that they are ready to be together is a beautiful story. I would recommend this book to someone else.

This was such a great story about second chance love stories! It started off really sad but as things progressed I found myself really caught up on this story! A heartwarming, occasionally heartbreaking, second chance romance with a beautiful ending. This was the perfect escape and would be a perfect beach read this summer!

Nine Lives is a book on how tragedy and loss can shape one’s worldview. The protagonist, Maggie, lost her father at a young age. The loss is deeply felt by the entire family. To ensure stability, her mother advocates making decisions based on safety. These beliefs become motto’s to live by.
Maggie finds a connection with a young man early in her life but cannot get beyond the worldview of her mother, and the fear of losing someone. She chooses instead what is safe. A sure deal. She marries a stable man, and together they create a solid foundation for years to come. Until tragedy visits once again.
Thrust into a new world, Maggie reunites with her first love, who's not a boy anymore. He’s everything she's refused to have in her life—a thrill seeker, living fast and adventurous. She guard’s herself well until she’s unable to resist their mutual attraction.
This is my second Danielle Steel book I’ve read. Nine Lives is sure to exceed expectations for Danielle Steel fans. Ms. Steel is a master at her craft.
I enjoyed the reality of the story. Loss affects lives. And the fear of losing the ones we love can push people into making safe choices. Sometimes this keeps people from living.
I also enjoyed how this story is about a woman who’s sorting her way through life alone and finding love later in life.
What I found a little challenging was the sentence structure and point of view. It seemed like the story was geared toward teens and young adults. This could be because the narrator/protagonist was reflecting on her childhood for about half of the book. Also, I wondered how the narrator/protagonist knew what others were thinking and feeling. That tripped me up a little, but not enough to stop the read.
If you’re a Danielle Steel fan, you won’t want to miss her latest new release, Nine Lives.

Maggie and Paul were high school sweethearts, but he pursued a high-risk lifestyle that her Mom warned her against after losing her father. Maggie marries Brad, a safe, reliable accountant, and they are enjoying a wonderful marriage with a great son, Aden.

One day Brad is killed after a commercial airliner accident, and Maggie and Aden are left a lone. Brad had planned ahead and left them comfortable, so Maggie had no money concerns. Prompted by a friend, Maggie takes a trip to Europe and runs into Paul. Sparks fly, and a relationship slowly grows.

Maggie has to decide whether the risk of loving Paul, with his race car fame and risk is worth it or not. She lived her life with the safe choice, is it time for a change?

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Maggie has had a difficult life. After tragically losing both her parents and her brother at a fairly young age. She is left seeking a more normal life with less grief. She finally finds herself in a stable marriage with a stable man when again fate takes that away from her and she is left to raise a teenage son alone.

Maggie decides to take a trip across Europe to find herself and just by chance runs into an old friend, Paul. Paul is now a world famous race car driver. The story evolves as Paul joins Maggie in her travels and the two rekindle their friendship. Will Maggie fall for the guy with “nine lives”?

I have read several Danielle Steel books and this one has a few twists which kept it interesting.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine/Delacorte Press for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Danielle Steel’s Nine Lives chronicles the protagonist’s, Maggie Kelly, life of tragedies and eventually happiness. It begins with the death of her fighter pilot father when she is only a young teen. Her mother warns her to stay away from daredevil men. Against her mother’s wishes, Maggie takes up with her risk-taking boyfriend until he leaves to follow his dream of becoming a motorcycle rider. After college, Maggie marries a predictable husband and enjoys a stable life with their son. Tragedy strikes again when Maggie’s husband is killed in the plane crash that she survives. With the blessing of her college aged son, Maggie travels through Europe and is reconnected with her high school boyfriend, now a wealthy, internationally recognized race car driver. When he is nearly killed, Maggie is faced with a difficult decision.

This story is another quick-read winner. Thank you Danielle Steel, Delacort Press and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback
