Loved reading the fascinating and enthralling story. Even though Gabrielle used to stay at the Hotel Louis XVI in Paris with her husband that left her for a younger woman, she decides to go ahead with her trip to Paris. When a man, Richard, has a heart attack and his girlfriend, Judythe asks for help, Alaistair comes to the rescue. Patrick, running for president, is having a secret affair with a man who is blackmailing him. As Gabrielle and Alaistair spend more time together, Gabrielle discovers that Alaistair is dying, giving up on life, and has a chance to try a new medical procedure. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and riveting novel by the best selling author Danielle Steel.
I reviewed a copy of the book through NetGalley.

Another great one by Danielle Steele. This book is about a famous hotel in Paris that has been closed for renovations and is having it's grand reopening. It follows 3 different people and how the events of that night affect them.

When a tragedy hits in a Danielle Steel novel you can guarantee something good will come of it! This book was no different. After being involved in the opening of a hotel and all the various things that go incredibly wrong, it was nice to see how the tragedy brought people together. Readers will find this book a super fast read as well as being enjoyable.

This was a fast paced book, story flowed easily from one scene to another.
The famous hotel, The Louis XVI, has been closed for four years for renovations. The regulars are very elite individuals who enjoy the privacy the hotel offers. During the first week of their reopening, the mix of regulars and new combers at the hotel's third floor are in for life changing drama. New friends will be made, a life will be lost with devastating after effects, and another life will be saved. Through it all, people will come together to form bonds that will last a lifetime. The book is about not taking life for granted, and live every day to its fullest, without hurting those you love.
The main story centered around Gabrielle and Alaistair, and their past and future. There were other stories interwoven throughout the book. I would have liked to see more from the other stories. While the only connection was the night in the hotel, it seemed very disconnected. Overall another Great Danielle Steel book.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I have always been a huge fan of Danielle Steele and this one did not disappoint me. I just love her writing style and story lines. Can not wait for more. Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for the chance to read another good book!

A compelling tale of scandal, tragedy, and life or death choices. The atmosphere for this novel was intriguing and the premise was good. It was easy to get lost in the large cast of characters. The pacing was a bit scattered but the writing was good and the story held my interest.

I read almost all of Danielle Steel’s book. This one centers on the re opening of an exclusive hotel in Paris. It focuses on an American divorcee, a British doctor, a middle-aged American couple and a member of the French government who all have rooms on the third floor. On the same evening. One takes a life, one saves a life and all are impacted by what happens that night. Though I enjoyed the book, I would rather have seen greater character and plot development with fewer characters. Once storyline just appeared as an afterthought and didn’t link to any of the others.Thank you to Random House and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.

Usually I'm a big fan of Danielle Steel novels. Her writing is easy and beautiful and I think she does a great job diving into her stories with real life situations and places within the story. However, I thought this one was just mediocre. Definitely not the worst book by any means, but I just thought it felt a little scattered especially with the character development. Some of the "complications" also felt a little forced at times.

Overall, I thought it was good and I will definitely keep an eye out for more Danielle Steel books in the future. Plus I loved the French influence!

Thank you NetGalley for providing the ARC for novel!

Some places hold a special place in our hearts because of the memories. Other times it is part of a bucket list. Or maybe we just enjoy fine things. Whatever the reason, the Hotel Louis XVI is the chosen destination for several guests for different reasons. Unfortunately, best laid plans do not always turn out the way that we expect them to turn out. From the moment these guests walk through the door, there are a few complications that quickly become more than expected resulting in consequences that change the lives of those who enter. Danielle Steel writes a story of heartbreak, of secrets, of love. Each person in this story experiences things that were not exactly as they thought they would be. This is a great read that will engage you. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

Coming August 17, 2021! Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine and Netgalley, I was chosen to be an early reviewer.
I always love to read the newest Danielle Steel books and this one did not disappoint. This book was a bit different than her normal novel as it focused on the Grand Re-Opening of the famous boutique hotel - Hotel Louis XVI! Hotel to the rich and famous in Paris, France. The book told the story of a few of the complications of the hotel along with focusing on two couples and one shamed politician who was implicated in a sex scandal gone wrong. The two couples are dealing with some heavy medical issues and this story explores their journeys in life and love! While this book does share a lot of drama, hence the name Complications, it is also still a happy romance novel that would be perfect for a summer beach read!

I think that maybe I need to take a break from reading any more Danielle Steel books. These new ones just don’t have the same quality of her earlier works and I find myself not enjoying them very much. Complications just couldn’t hold my attention and I found myself not wanting to finish it. I hope that the books will start being more like others of her that have that epic quality to them.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

Complications is my 37th book by Danielle Steel and once again, she did not disappoint. I enjoyed the story line set in Paris and this has romance in it and a “few” complications happen throughout. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. Book to be published August 2021.

Great read, although sad that she has passed and this is one of her last novels. It was a bittersweet, sad and loved it.

Beautifully written story about several of the guests who check in to a Paris hotel. One of the guests, Gabrielle, is a divorced woman who is starting to live again. When the man across from her hotel room has a heart attack, she meets a doctor, Alastair, staying at the hotel who comes to the man’s aid. It’s a story of taking risks, faith, and second chances. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Delacorte Press for my honest review.

A well told story that sucks you in starting with the beautiful Louis XVI Hotel and its guests. You never know what life will bring in regards to the choices we make and curves ball thrown at us. What a perfect name for this book. Loved Gabriella and Alaistair story. Thanks to Random House publishing for allowing me to read this advanced copy. Another brilliant book by Danielle Steel.

This book was tough to read in the beginning because it was very sad but once I got through the tough parts it was a good book. Nice happy ending for the characters at the end. Steel has a very unique sense of a writer, unlike other authors. Not so much dialogue, but a lot of detail! Very real and raw book. I also like how the past couple of books I have read from her have been set around the world, Gives the readers chance to learn about different places as well.
