Complications by Danielle Steel. Lives were changed due to complications during the reopening of Hotel Louis XVI in Paris including an unsavory affair, a murder and a medical emergency. The services of the hotel were also comprised including the phone, internet, and security systems. The story follows three storylines that of Gabrielle and Alastair, Richard and Judythe, and Patrick. There are unexpected twists at the end. Danielle Steel at her best, an enjoyable read.

Another heartwarming novel from Danielle Steel. The story begins with a newly renovated hotel and how tragedy brings people together. Ms Steel digs deep into her characters, making you care about them and wish to know more about their lives even after the book ends.

Liked how the author tied together very different story lines. I love to travel, but with what was happening in this hotel it would not be tops on my list of places to stay. The characters were realistic and the story lines compelling. I have only visited Paris once and this made me want to return again.

This novel reminded me of a television series when I was a young girl called Hotel. I realize that I am dating myself. It is cliche to call the Louis the Sixteenth a character but it was. It is in Paris and has just gone through four years of renovations. The owner has died and has new management running it now. The silks and brocades fabrics are all new but they match the old ones a powder blue. All the previous antique furniture still remains. It is smaller than the Ritz and the Four Seasons but is preferred by a rich clientele and is fully booked.
Gabrielle Gates is divorced with her ex-husband Arthur who is well into his early seventies. He cheated on Gabrielle with a much less classier woman who is only in her twenties and is three years older than one of his daughter's. Gabrielle has just come out of seclusion and is staying at the hotel because she has flown to Paris from New York City to do business as an art dealer. She meets a man there who is dying from cancer. He has been given two months to live and is undergoing an an experimental drug therapy. He was planning on taking his life with an overdose. After the two of them meet they fall in love and he is cured. There are two other stories about other characters but they are not as central to the novel. This was a quick and light read but entertaining.

I had a tough time with this book. I didn't connect with any of the characters - I found some of the characters a little too self absorbed and not nice people - and found the story to be very slow and it did not keep my interest. I did like the descriptions of Paris but that was it.

Set in three of my favorite cities, London, Paris and New York provide a scenic backdrop to the characters' complicated stories. Throughout the novel, the protagonists encounter criminal affairs, devastating diagnoses, and life-changing decisions while mustering the courage to confront the past to bravely face the future.

While I enjoyed Gabrielle and Alaistair's stories, the novel didn't hold my attention like Steel's previous books. The plot kept adding #Complications rather than furthering the storyline. Sometimes less is more and allowing a tragedy to cement a relationship rather than continually untangling obstacles.

That being said, the underlining message of living life to its fullest resonated with me. During a time where our world has shrunk to our neighborhoods, remaining positive and refusing to give in, helps sustain our dreams. Life can be complicated but through adversity we find ourselves.

Great read. This novel reads like a classic Steel novel. If you’ve enjoyed reading Danielle Steel for years as I have you will want to read this. It has a great setting, characters you will like (and some you won’t) and is just all around a nice easy book to read.

Typical fare about a bunch of people who are staying in a hotel when various complications occur at the hotel - a murder, a heart attack, a fire alarm and a possible bomb threat.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. I have read most of Danielle Steele's books and enjoyed this one immensely. The books takes place at the Louis hotel in Paris which has been closed the past four years for renovations. The hotel is none for its discretion when dealing with their high profile guests. The first weekend it opened one guest had to ge taken to the hospital for heart issues. Luckily or him their was a doctor nearby to administrator chest compression. There was also a politician staying at the hotel who was being blackmailed. I enjoyed getting to know the different characters. This book was well written and entertaining to read.

Another good read! Ms. Steel has the ability to take u to a place where u actually feel the same emotions, the highs and the lows that the characters are going through. Also, she intertwines the story lines so they blend perfectly. She is an amazing writer and storyteller. I have never been disappointed by any of her books and look forward to reading and enjoying many more!

Typical Steel rhetoric paining women as helpless to a degree without a man in her life. I don’t know why I keep reading this antiquated take on life. Of course they’re all wealthy, thin and beautiful- just like real life. We have to stress thin and tall, that’s all we find acceptable in society.

Everything is over the top and expensive no matter where one stays too! No one suffers!

Danielle Steel is a classic. She is a legend really in her genre. You really cannot go wrong with a Danielle Steel book for pure entertainment.

Another winner! I found a few things a bit inconceivable, but overall the story was delightfully entertaining. The eclectic group of guests create the ambiance in the Parisian boutique hotel where a large part of the story takes place. Even after all these years, I am still pleasantly surprised with the way Ms. Steel is able to create these worlds I can escape to for a while. I would definitely recommend this book.

This book is definitely darker than most Steel novels. It is the story of Gabrielle, adjusting to her new life after her husband has left her for a much younger, flashy, Russian girl. While trying to rebuild her life she visits her favorite hotel in Paris. It is here that the author introduces several interconnected subplots.

Of course, one is a romance for Gabrielle, but like the other mini-plots, there are COMPLICATIONS. Unlike, most Steel endings, there are twists and not all predictable.

I enjoyed the book and, certainly, Steel fans will enjoy this change of pace.

This is another classic DS novel with multiple characters and storylines happening at once. It takes a bit to figure it all out in the beginning, but basically all of the characters are connected through staying at a famous hotel in Paris. I enjoyed gabbie’s story the most, and it all tied up nearly in the end. Overall it was a solid read. Thank you to netgalley for the arc.

Another good page turning novel... Its a true testament to real life and all the complications. One never knows what the person next to them is going thru or what, when or why things happen to people.

By the time they reopened, the head and most respected hotel manager had died, other staff members had retired, so there is a change in staff. When guests start arriving, more complications occur such as the new telephone and internet system fails, a guest has a heart attack, a murder occurs, will the hotel recover from these mishaps or will the complications continue to occur? Can anything good come out of all these complications? This book will have you turning the pages to find out.

Really good book. Another great book by Danielle Steel. Would definitely recommend this book. Can’t go wrong with Danielle Steel. Thank you

This was a fast paced read, although it felt a little dry at times. I was having a hard time connecting to the characters, so I was not as invested in their high’s and lows as the story progressed, although it was pretty interesting to see how the story lines intersected. I think someone who is already a DS fan would really enjoy this book. I also enjoyed the authors description of Paris.
