A nice enough read... Was a bit 'meh' throughout as not much happens, but this is your jam or the kind of story you're looking for, with not much drama and certainly no 'over the topness' to it, then you might enjoy this one

I adore second-chance romances, whether it’s the-one-that-got-away, knew-each-other-in-school, dated-but-didn’t-work-out, etc., and this story is a combination of those. The reason I adore these kinds of stories is because they show how the angst of the past catches up to you, the realization that this person is The One, and figuring out how to make things work so you can be together. Some stories, like this one, shows how situations and the human brain does things to make you think one way, but then finding out that maybe you might have been a little off with your thinking. And, in the end, the main characters finally (Finally!) get to have their HEA.

So heartwarming, tender yet sad book. I loved it. Love the small town romance stories. Great characters made this such a good and enjoyable read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for an ARC of this book.

This is a second-chance-at-love romance which began in high school. The hero and heroine were both likeable and relatable. I enjoyed their story, but agree with other reviewers that their story was a bit too slow for my liking. However, it was well written and overall enjoyable. I am intrigued by the other characters who were introduced in this book and will be the subject of the next books in this series.

Thanks go to the Book Buzz and Net-Galley for the electronic copy of Anne Ever After by Lynne Marshall. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this heartfelt romance. My opinions are my own, and nothing has influenced my rating of this book.

Anne Ever After is a small-town romance set in Southern California. The pacing pulled me into the story right away and kept my interest until the end. There’s a good bit of emotion in the plot, and the writing flows beautifully.

Anne Grady is the heroine, and I enjoyed many aspects of her character, but I did grow frustrated with her because she vacillates concerning her feelings for the hero. She clings to her old hurts and can’t move beyond it.

Jack Lightfoot is a great hero. I became vested in his character from the start. He’s a man of integrity and recognizes the hurt he caused Anne and wants her forgiveness. I felt his pain and wanted him to get his girl.

The romance between Anne and Jack is electric, and I enjoyed them as a couple. I just wish Anne had realized she was holding onto a hurt way too long and could miss out on the best man for her.

If you enjoy contemporary romance with strong characters and an emotional plot, then you will love Anne Ever After as much as I did. I enjoyed Ms. Marshall’s writing style and will look for other books by her. Happy reading!

Even though I love slow burns romance. This was a little too slow. I.liked the characters and story but not enough sizzle for me.

A sweet second chance romance. Particularly enjoyable for me as I love hot air balloons and Southern California. Past issues to move beyond create the ups and downs in their relationship. Great couple. Terrific parents. I look forward to reading her brother's story.

Thank you NetGalley, Lynne Marshall for the Independently Published ARC of Anne Ever After. This is my personal review.
Anne Ever After is the first book in the new series Return to Whispering Oaks.
Anne, Jack and Brianna are very close friends in high school. Jack liked Brianna. Anne and Jack kissed. Events happened and Anne left Whispering Oaks. She returns to help take care of her parents after they had been hurt in a motorcycle accident. Anne runs into to Jack almost as soon as she returned. The feeling she had for him came flooding back. But she knows she has a job waiting for her back in Portland and cannot let her feelings for Jack become a reason to stay.
This story was terribly slow and for me the relationship and angst from high school was weak. I had no connection with Anne or Jack and seeing their relationship develop.

Anne, Jack and Brianna were high school friends. Bri, the pretty one, Jack the jock and Anne the smart one. Anne liked Jack, Jack liked Brianna, until he didn't . No biggie, it's High school, it happens. I couldn't understand how 15 years later, Anne is still "feeling guilty" about a high school kiss? yes it was sad that Brianna dies, kids dying is always sad. But to be feeling that you "betrayed" your best friend? I couldn't wrap my head around that. I finished the book, barely, I get that there will be 2 more stories, Lucas and Lark, hope it's better
