To quote Roberta Flack: [> I felt (he) found my letters and read each one out loud // I prayed that (he) would finish // But he just kept right on // Strumming my pain with (his) fingers].

It was just a lot of truth spoken and a lot of fantastic conversation starts on experiences, overcoming structural trauma, decolonization and autonomy.

This is a very detailed, well written book setting out stories related to everyday racism. For me, the book was probably too heavy going and I struggled to read it. However, this is probably a reflection of reading it at the wrong time as I think you really need be in the right frame of mind to get to grips with the material included in this book.
