I am a little late to share my thoughts but this book was every bit interesting keeping the COVID situation in mind.
Seeing the world coming to a halt when little routines of the life were changed and a new normal was introduced for abnormal times.
A child's perspective about the situation her family had to face .

Interesting illustration and book record of the lockdown times for children libraries.

A very creative way to share an important message! I’ve read a few children’s stories trying to explain the pandemic to our younger ones, but this one resonated with my kids more than any other. All the makings of a great children’s book - educational and sweet.

I loved how this book tackled the anxiety with things reopening back up amid a pandemic. A little girl is worried about how to keep her mom safe when she goes back to cutting hair. She takes all safety rules into consideration and comes up with an imaginative plan.

I really wanted to love this book, but I just....couldn't. I did however enjoy the illustrations. It was nice to see depicted the struggles that people went through during the pandemic. The problem was that the girl did not seem as relatable as the mom did. But, for teaching purposes, I would definitely use this book to educated children about some things that we had to go through during the pandemic.

The perfect book at the perfect time - that's what "Lockdown Hair" is. In these dire times, when children and adults alike are stuck at home, everyone needs a good laugh and something relatable that will make them chuckle and this charming little book with its sweet innocent lovable characters and vibrant watercolor illustrations provide exactly that!

We follow the life of little Siona, who is dearly loved by her close-knit family, as she struggles along with her family during this pandemic lockdown. Despite such unfortunate times, there is plenty of love and happiness to go about the family, and a tad bit of hilarious frustration at grandmother's wispy disarrayed hair, which is in dire need of a visit to the hair salon! Siona is afraid for her mother, who runs a hair salon. She is afraid that her mother and eventually her dear family would be harmed by the virus and as fear and anxiety take over everyone's minds, Siona comes up with wonderful and witty solutions that will help her mom to work and be safe at the same time.

This is the perfect book for children during this pandemic because it will not only give them a good time, and make them light-hearted but it will also teach them to overcome the fear and anxiety during such unfortunate times and encourage them to think through their problems.

I assure you that this cute little book will definitely brighten up your day!

I really enjoyed this book and thought that the story was brilliant!

I have been working from home since the end of February 2020 so I have had lockdown hair for a while, and I have a fake hair piece I add for some of my work meetings as they can only see me face on so when I read this with my daughter she loved it and thought it was very funny!

It was well written and had some lovely illustrations - easy to follow, very relevant to now and lots of fun too! It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!!

WooHoo!! What a book! A really creative one with ideas during pandemic. After a year being coped up inside the tiny appartement or your house, it can become really frustrating. Here the author gives idea on how to manage your little one. Ideas. How could you make your children imagine things to do with the regulations (here is how to cut a customer's hair with the 2 metres distance), and let their imaginations soar.

Our preschool classroom really enjoyed this book. They sat and listened to to whole thing without interruptions (which is a big deal). Afterwards, the kids wanted to read it on their own! It was nice for them to have a book about the pandemic that they could relate to.

This book focuses on a little girl whose mother works as a hairstylist, and the girl imagines inventions that might keep her mother safe when she can go back to work. The inventions are sweet, but wildly impractical, which makes the ending seem a little bit silly. More importantly, this book's relevance will vary based on where someone lives and what their current lockdown situation is. Where I live, hair salons have been open for several months, and this book would seem like a throwback to an earlier time, rather than something that is relevant to a child or their family right now.

This is a cute picture book, and the illustrations are fun, but it isn't something that everyone will find relevant or useful. I would only recommend this to someone who is still under extremely strict lockdown measures, or who wants to use this book to discuss elements of 2020 with their children in retrospect.

On another note, American parents and educators should be aware that this book uses the metric system, and should be prepared to explain it to children.

This was cute! I think it’s really helpful to teach kids what is going on during the pandemic. It’s also fun in the sense that it can get kids creative juices flowing, wanting to have new fun ideas of doing things in a safe and different way!

This book is a funny yet imaginative way to show some of the littler things in the pandemic. The hair salons being closed and everyone's hair going insane is one of the laughable yet common problems in the pandemic world. People are cutting and colouring their own hair, or it's growing out and looking a little insane! It's amusing, but it's a great way to show what's happening in a light hearted way.

The book also goes over safety measures, because kids will ask what that means and why we have to do them. I think this book is an excellent book!

The best part of some of the comedic ideas, such as combs on long rods to fit into social distancing measures. That's the kind of pictures and ideas that make me smile and remember that creativity can make the pandemic a little easier (in some ways, of course).

The illustrations in this book are light and very colourful. I absolutely adore the incredible colour scheme and how a large amount of them look like they are water coloured. Who doesn't love water colour? It's an under utilized art technique in picture books (in my opinion)

Five out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Canoe Tree Press for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

It is known that our hairstyles went haywire during lockdown. In Lockdown Hair, a little girl comes up with ideas about how to keep her mother's saloon running during Covid-19 and also keep her mother and her customer safe. The book was funny and drives home the concept of six-feet distancing. However, the illustrations could have been better.

A sweet story about a very important topic right now. This would be a useful tool in a parent's life, allowing for a child's exploration of the topic of pandemics and lockdowns. Plus, it's got a cute story about a young girl helping her mother be safe.

This was soooo cute and important at the same time considering covid-19 is the number one thing people talk about these days. I think this book can help lots of little kids to understand what is going on in the world and how important it is to practice social distancing and all these other measurements to keep each other safe.

Also, LOVED the discussion and comprehension questions at the end of this book. This is a really great way to talk about the book with kids. It's also really good for their language development, so I'll definitely keep this one in my mind for future SLP-sessions.

Would really recommend this one!

Review: A helpful story for children who are struggling with the realities and challenges the pandemic is causing. Siona's mum is a hairdresser and is unable to work until restrictions are lifted. After Siona has a video call with her Granny, she decides to brainstorm for ways her mum can do her job safely. Each of the six steps show a creative way to complete a step in the hair dressing process, from 2 metres away! The author has also included some discussion and comprehension questions to utilize after reading the book to help them share their thoughts.

Note: I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is my own.
