This is a gripping read set in an affluent street with most of the households employing some form of childcare. The main storyline is written from the perspective of two of the main characters but there are also various sub-storylines running alongside. This is a well-written, fast-paced thrilling read with a twist at the end that I was not expecting. So good that I had to finish it in one sitting, ! will definitely be reading more books written by these authors.
What a brilliant book! It kept me gripped to the last page, which made me gasp!
I did work out some parts of the story, but I did fall for the red herring.
I found it well written & I thought about the story in between reading. A sure sign of a good book. Can't wait to read more from these authors!!
This was an interesting read; it seems to be every parent's nightmare - not being able to trust the person looking after your child. Initially this begins as a story of someone seeking justice (or revenge) but swiftly turns into a psychological page-turner. Told from the perspective of two different women, I did mostly enjoy this as the two characters were well-written and interesting to follow. The one thing that bothered me was the ending - to me it felt a bit rushed and I wasn't entirely convinced by it. I'm not sure what I was expecting as the point of a twist is to come out of nowhere, but I felt this came too far out of the blue for me to feel it was a satisfying ending.
All in all, it was enjoyable and I did find myself intrigued but ultimately a tad let down by the final chapters.
Firstly a big thank you to the publishers for my copy to review on netgalley.
I raced through this !
An amazing exciting psychological thriller that leaves you wanting more.
Cleverly written and fast paced this is thought provoking and addictive read. Packed with twists and turns and completely unpredictable.
You thinj you know which way its going then you’re shocked with a new revelation.
Chilling ,gripping and I highly recommend.
The Perfect Nanny by Karen
Clarke & Amanda Brittany
You trust her with your home, your husband, your baby; but she is about to destroy it all. Do you really know her?
This was a suspenseful, cozy novel. Very mixed up characters, many trying to do harm to each other. It was over before I knew it. A quick page-turner for sure.
Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.
A scary believable tale. You trust someone to support your family and they take over as you to a almost wiping you out ina grisly ending.
This is a fast paste book with many twists and turns….
I do not want to post any spoilers, I thought I had guessed the outcome but I was wrong. If your a mother about to hire a nanny don’t read this book.
Great book
Excellent book, the mummy characters were very well written and I loved the tension of the book, the mum in law was particularly creepy however I found the husband to be rather annoying
I enjoyed this book even though I kinda knew what was going to happen. It was slow in a couple of spots.
At first glance you may think this is a tried and tested tale of psycho-nanny with a grudge, however a few pages in and you will realise you haven't even started trying to figure out the plot, never mind who's the actual bad guy in all this! I like the first person and switches of character that enable you to see things from more than one angle. This book will keep you guessing until the last page!
This was ok. Adequate as far as switch-off entertainment goes, and some decent plot twists, but two things prevented me from enjoying this as much as I had hoped.
Firstly, and crucially, there were simply too many aspects that were excessively far-fetched (I cannot elaborate without giving away spoilers). Secondly - and this probably wouldn't bother most people, but was irritating and easily avoidable =, one of the characters was portrayed as being British upper-class or upper middle-class, but then that same character used words such as "Nanna" for grandmother and "gifting." This is just as implausible as the far-fetched aspects of the plot..
This book was amazing got me hooked from start to finish just when I thought I had worked out the plot a twist came although I did work out one plot in the book 5 star review on Goodreads ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Another great thriller to completely mess with your head! So many plot twists which added to the overall drama. Definitely puts you off trusting your kids with a nanny and even your other half around one. Great book
I think I must have requested this book by accident as I can’t think why I would want another predictable thriller written to get on the bandwagon of the thriller craze which started a few years ago. Not for me.
What a great read. This book had me hooked from the very beginning. The central character seems to have an enviable life with everything she could wish for including a loving husband and beautiful baby son. However, everything is not as it seems below the surface as she is being gaslighted and doesn’t understand what’s happening or who is targeting her. Well worth reading and highly recommended.
A great, quick read. Struggling mom and a maybe supportive mother-in-law? Love a good domestic thriller! The book went by quick but I am sure I will not remember the plot after a bit. A great book to read at the beach or want to get back into reading. Multiple point of views and lots of twists and turns! Would def reread in a couple of years when I have forgotten/not sure of plot.
Really enjoyed this book , fast paced , interesting characters and plenty of twists and turns . If psychological storylines are for you this is a must read .
Far fetched unrealistic story of struggling mum Sophy who hires a nanny to help her but has an ulterior motive......very readable and I wanted to find out what happened so I couldn’t put it down! An easy read
Wow a really exciting psychological thriller with so many twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down, and stayed up late to finish in one.
I read this book mostly because I was fascinated by the mish mash of tropes and unusual twists. I felt there was too much in the story which meant I didn't really root or engage with anyone - and I felt some elements, despite sad, were unbelievable eg the MIL drugging the daughter.
