This book was AMAZING! So many twists and turns and just Wow. I couldn’t stop reading.

Just when I thought I had it all figured out, no I did not. I can’t wait to read more from these authors.

I very rarely give 5 stars in any review, but I feel that this book deserves them all plus some. Whoever decides to read this book will not be disappointed. I promise.

I will highly recommend this book.

This had me completely and constantly engaged from the very beginning. As you'd expect but not always guaranteed this novel actually had me on the edge of my seat second guessing, changing my mind throughout and just when I thought I'd cracked it another curve ball was thrown at me.

The characters were extremely well written, plausible, likeable and most important relatable.

The whole story is woven with real high emotions that capture every nerve. Grief, tension, betrayal, broken trust, love... you will feel them all.

A fast paced, menacing and entertaining read that I'd happily and easily recommend onto anyone.

4.5*

Sophy Pemberton is struggling to cope with the pressures of becoming a new mother. Her nine-month-old son never settles in her arms and the unrelenting tiredness from late night feeds is all-consuming. So, when Liv Granger from the mother and baby group offers her services as a nanny, Sophy is overcome with relief. Now she can finally get some sleep… She can stop failing at being a mother. But Liv has a secret.

The story isn’t complex or hard to follow – it’s a really easy, quick read, but with enough drama and conflict to keep the reader intrigued throughout. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

3.5/5.

This had me on the edge of my seat, from start to finish! I was constantly changing my mind and continually guessing - a true psychological thriller! When Sophy is struggling to look after her baby boy, constantly sleeping and forgetting the smallest of things, she invites Liv into her home to be a nanny to her son. However, Liv has her own agenda, but is she the only one? I read this book in twenty-four hours as I couldn't wait to find out who was behind Sophy's son going missing. A great Summer, easy read for those who want to be gripped throughout!

The Perfect Nanny by Karen Clarke was a brilliant read. Sophy’s and Liv’s stories are told from each of their perspectives. I suspected early in the book what had happened with Ben and what was happening with new mum Sophy but lots of other aspects of the story unfolded gradually. The characters were credible and their personalities well crafted by the author. Kim, Clare and Gary came across as cold characters, hard to like. Liv’s deep seated anger and fixation were well conveyed along with her pangs of conscience as events unfolded. The book kept me reading to find out what happened next so Karen certainly achieved her aim of an engaging psychological suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Four sound stars from me

I was given an ARC in return for my honest opinion thanks to NetGalley and HQ digital

We learn pretty quickly that this is a story about 3 different women that have a few random things in common. I thought that I had this story pegged. I was sure that I knew what was going on. I thought that this was a pretty standard revenge story.

I was wrong. Because I thought that I understood what was going on I didn’t pay attention to a lot that was going on in the story. I’m not sure that this was on purpose by the authors but, I will say that it worked in their advantage for there to be a switch up at the end of the book.

Overall, I liked this. I thought that it was a good read. I would recommend this title to others as well as these authors.

Overall, I felt kinda meh about this book. Not necessarily bad, but not particularly memorable either. Giving it 2.5/5 Stars.

This was a super read, the sort that is easy to get lost in and very easy to whizz through.
I did guess a fair bit, but for me this doesn't spoil my enjoyment, it adds to my reading pleasure, racing on to find out when and how the penny will drop. It adds a heightened tension too in that I want to shout at the characters to tell them what I know!
However, in spite of guessing some parts of the plot, I did NOT guess other parts. In the end I was changing my mind constantly between 3 likely candidates and this made The Perfect Nanny an exciting read.
The characters were all believable, all ordinary but all struggling in their own ways because of huge losses. The emotional trauma brought about by grief is very evident in this book, it seems to destroy a lot of people's lives and lead others to make very unwise decisions which will deeply affect those around them. I also felt that in this storyline the idea of telling one lie seems to create more lies and in doing so actions become muddled and chaotic and potentially dangerous.
The deceit of one character even at the end leaves the reader's jaw on the floor. How broken one has to be, but also how twisted one has to be, in order to plan a future that is full of delusions. Not everyone who is broken by life behaves in an immoral or criminal way but in this book there is someone who is flawed enough and convinced their behaviour is justified, to create someone very far removed from a place of trust.
The menace comes from minds being played with so that health and sanity are continually questioned. Exhausting for one character but highly entertaining for the reader.
The Perfect Nanny is a perfect prescription for for perfectly unacceptable treatment of people close to us who should have our best interests at heart, so pick this book for your next read and put right a wrong!
Thank you to the authors, publisher and Netgalley for access to this 5 star read.

This was a real page-turner.

Liv is desperately seeking revenge for the death of her brother, Ben. Believing that his ex girlfriend, Sophy is responsible, Liv manages to secure a job as nanny to her son, Finn. Hiwever, Sophy is already struggling with motherhood. She's tired all the time, keeps inexplicably losing things and her mother-in-law, Elizabeth never seems to leave her in peace.

The narrative alternates between Liv and Sophy's point of view. Both characters were well written and authentic and I felt invested in their story. The 'akward meetings at mum's club' will resonate with many new mums.

The plot was cleverly resolved and I felt the addition of the last chapter with Elizabeth in the future worked well.

Thanks indeed to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

The Perfect Nanny is full of twists and turns that I didn't see coming and i found myself suspicious of everyone. I loved this book it was so good that I had to order takeout for tea because I didn't want to put it down to cook.

I definitely recommend this book by Karen Clarke.

Sophy Pemberton is struggling with her new life as a parent. Crying baby + sleepless nights + pressure from the inlaws = a very stressed mama. Feeling as though she’s losing her mind – she’s desperate for some assistance, especially where her husband is working what seems like every waking hour at the office. So when Liv Granger from a local playgroup offers her services as a nanny Sophy sees it as a Godsend. But is Liv an angel that’s walked into her life ready to fix everything? Or is she going to be the one to destroy it even more?

I liked this book straight off the bat! From the very first page the undertones were set, the characters were established and I was hooked. I really liked how the story flipped between the two main characters, both offering their point of view and giving you an insight into their backstories. Both Sophy and Liv were really likable and somehow you managed to root for both of them even though they were pretty much against each-other throughout the entire narrative. I especially liked the fact that the ‘bad guy’ Liv wasn’t a criminal mastermind, but instead just a normal girl with a grudge and a plan for revenge. She still made mistakes, got things wrong and was just as flawed as anyone else in the narrative – which made it a lot more realistic!

The story isn’t complex or hard to follow – it’s a really easy, quick read, but with enough drama and conflict to keep the reader intrigued throughout. Both of the characters story arcs are built up quickly, without missing a beat to throw in a bunch of twists, shocks and revelations. The side characters were also really intriguing and sprinkled even more suspicion into the mix. I really liked the fact that there was a lot going on, but at no point did it get ridiculous or confuse the story. The ending was particularly gripping, with the pace picking it up even more so and bringing the reader to an satisfyingly gripping conclusion.

I’ve never read a book from either of these two talented authors, but I’ll definitely be on the lookout for them in the future! Both Karen Clarke & Amanda Brittany wrote so similarly and so flawlessly that you couldn’t even tell it was a collaboration. One thing is for sure, is after reading this – I definitely won’t be hiring a nanny in the future. I’ll stick to the local creche!

Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for my advanced reader copy! 💕

This was an entertaining read, but nothing too amazing. It was a quick, fun read, but I did guess most of the "surprise" twists. However, it was definitely a fun book.
