Lemon Drop Dead was a fun, sweet and heartwarming Murder mystery all wrapped into one. I enjoyed this read so much, I found myself savoring each chapter as I stayed up past my bedtime. Lol

In this story by Amanda Flower we follow Bailey King as she helps her dear friend Emily celebrate her bundle of joy. There’s only one problem she is Amish and even if a baby shower wasn’t unorthodox, this wasn’t her first child.

Questions go unanswered until a murder gets everyone talking. That is except little Hannah, daughter of the deceased, who happens to be deaf. While Bailey is trying to learn how to talk to the girl she finds herself making new connections and even mending a few. Can she solve the murder and help her boyfriend Deputy Aiden close another Harvest mystery?

I will let you figure that out for yourself!

A sixth in a series that I have come to enjoy visiting. I enjoy the characters, their development, and the plot. There is a lot going on in this episode.
We learn something from Emily’s past that plays a predominant role in the story. Charlotte really shines in the story and she makes a life altering decision. Also, things may be up in the air for Bailey and her deputy, Aiden. I’m hoping for the best outcomes for all of them.
I also see the iceberg breaking between Esther Esh and her sister Emily. One can hope.

Liked the ending. The story was wrapped up but personal relations not so much. Looking forward to the next installment.

Great recipes at the end of the book.

I was given an ARC e-book copy from Netgalley. I am not required to leave a positive review.

I would like to be spoiler free, so this will be somewhat vague. If I say too much I will spoil the book for you.

I have really enjoyed the Amish candy Shop Mysteries. Reading about Bailey and all the different characters in the series. This book however was not my favorite. While a lot of character development and good things happened for many characters like Emily, Esther, and Charlotte which was nice, I usually do not see these changes until a series is starting to tie up loose ends and wrap up. This installment felt like a goodbye with what to me was a cliffhanger.

The murder mystery itself was lacking and the killer did not make sense. I did not figure it but at the same time the motive and murder was kind of meh for me. I struggled to read the book a bit, I kept plodding through hoping to get resolution to Aden and Baileys story and was let down.

What sets this book apart is the murder was not easy to figure out. What makes it less enjoyable is Aden's storyline. It did not make sense to me at all and detracted from my enjoyment of the book. Since a lot of the reoccurring themes/ tropes in this book for a few of the supporting characters were tied up it made the book better because these were things you had been waiting a long time to see. However, Lemon Drop Dead felt like a penultimate offering. Which has me worried.

Lemon Drop Dead by Amanda Flower is the eventh in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. Bailey King is still working at her grandmother's candy shop in Harvest, Swissman Sweets, still in love with Aiden Brody, and still gooing to New York City every three months to film her cable TV. In between all of this she is a stalwart member of the community, always at the back and call of Aiden's mother, Juliet Brook and her pet pig, Jethro, and Margo XXXX, the woman who had appointed herself the PR person for the town and accomplished that by planning events, always including Swissman Sweets. There was a murder, of course, but almost more astonishing was the fact that Esther Esch ran to Bailey for help. They had never been friendly and Bailey never expected more from her than a scowl. The main cause for the enmity was that Bailey and her grandmother had hired, Esther's sister, Emma and kept her under their wings until Emma had married Daniel Keim a year ago. Emma was now pregnant with their first child and nearly ready to deliver. Hence, Juliet's and Margo's newest event: a baby shower for Emma. The Amish didn't normally have baby showers but that was no reason to quash their plans. Emma was not thoroughly convinced but agreed to let it happen. Charlotte, Swissman Sweets other employee, a cousin of sorts, volunteered to put it together. So off they went.

The murder victim was no one Bailey knew but she had seen her once, when she spoke to Emma at the shower. And not very nicely. So in this beautiful little town there was yet another murder. And Bailey had to investigate, knowing Emma's secret (she had had an illegitimate baby six years before and given it up) and feeling certain the tow things were related. Flower always writes a good mystery and this was not excpetion, all based on relationships. Although this did involved a deeath, so many good things happened it was almost a happily ever after. No spoilers. It is a lovely read, proving that the Amish human, just like the rest of us. Wonderful book!

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Lemon Drop Dead by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #netgalley #lemondropdead

Another great addition to the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. Running a candy shop is one of Bailey King's many obligations but when someone is murdered in a neighboring shop Bailey makes investigating the murder a top priority. Little did she know how it would change the life of a friend.

I like the way this story shows the lives of the Amish and the "Englischers" in the community of Harvest, Ohio. There is an interesting and diverse group of characters and I even found myself hoping the best for one of the grumpy/meaner ones. Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

4 stars

This is the sixth book in the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries by Amanda Flower.

Bailey King is back and has gotten herself into a bit of hot water. She is unabashedly investigating the death of a woman and discovers that her young child is not only deaf but the daughter of one of her good friends, Emily.

The best part of this book was the discovery of the little deaf girl, Hannah and that cute pig, Jethro. I was kind of abhorred by how the Amish treat adoption and no one is really documented when they are born. I couldn’t believe that anyone would call that cute girl dumb or stupid and it just angered me more. It was a great concept for a plot and would probably make a really good non-fiction read if they wanted to dig further into the whole Amish adoption angle of that religion.

The plot was a roller-coaster ride and you will have to pay attention to the clues. There is quite a plot twist before all is discovered. I didn’t know whodunit until nearly the end.

Definitely pick this up if you are a cozy mystery lover.

The latest book in the Amish Candy Shop cozy mystery series, Lemon Drop Dead, doesn’t disappoint. Join Bailey, Aiden, Emily, Charlotte and Jethro the spotted pig to solve a couple of mysteries in this humorous installment in the series with serious undertones.

Bailey helps her Amish grandmother with her candy shop in Harvest, Ohio. In addition, Bailey hosts a successful cable cooking show in NYC. When her neighbors suggest a baby shower for Bailey’s assistant Emily, she agrees. However, when a strange woman accosts Emily at her baby shower and blurts out Emily’s deepest secret, Bailey is concerned. Later that night, the strange woman is found murdered in Emily’s estranged family’s pretzel shop. Could Emily’s sister, Esther, be the killer? The threatening note from Esther found in the victim’s pocket seems to seal Esther’s fate. Can Bailey help Emily clear her sister’s name while also keeping Emily’s secret safe?

I just love the characters in this cozy series. They feel like family. It feels like a holiday celebration when each new book is published. Once again, Lemon Drop Dead gets a 5 star rating and is a new favorite book of mine!

Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is the 6th release in the popular cozy mystery series "Amish Candy Shop"" by cozy author Amanda Flower. Thank you to the publisher, the author and to Net Galley for the opportunity. This is a delight to read and a wonderful addition to this loved cozy series. I highly recommend this series for your reading enjoyment. The author has created a beautiful Amish village in Harvest Ohio with a charming candy shop and great charcters for her readers. The town people are friendly, kind and of good morals. The author depicts a true Amish village here as well as blends the English and Amish together so well as friends. The protagnist Bailey is someone we wish we were friends with as she cares for her Grandmother, her friends and her town with compassion and kindness.

In this next in series our protagnist Bailey is thrilled to throw a traditional baby shower for her assistant Emily. The Amish do not throw baby showers so Bailey is determined to make this special for Emily with all the warmth the town and their friends can give. When a strange woman comes to the shower and bothers Emily with information Emily does not wish to share. Bailey must step up when the stranger is murdered to clear Emily and her family from any and all suspicion. Soon suspects abound and red herrings appear as Bailey is on a investigative quest to save her friend.

This was another fun read in this series. The pot belly pig is back and always a hoot. The charcters are warm, friendly and all add depth to this wonderful series. The descriptions of the candy shop and the town are a delight. One wants to immediately book a ticket to visit if only Harvest was a real place. I love returning to this world the author has created and look forward to the next in series. Review cross posted.

Lemon Drop Dead is the sixth installment in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. Bailey King is as busy as ever trying to keep up with the increase demand in orders generated from the success of her own cooking show. It is almost as if she spends as much time away from Harvest, Ohio - the idyllic small town nestled in the heart of Ohio's Amish country - as she does staying in town. Somehow though she manages to juggle the demands of her life, her budding stardom, and her romance with Aiden Brody.

Swissmen Sweet's shop assistant Emily Keim is pregnant, and the town decide to host a baby shower for her. This is not a tradition normally celebrated by the Amish, so Emily is reluctant but eventually convinced to participate in this celebration. Emily and her sister Esther have been estranged for sometime, but it would mean so much to Emily if Esther came out to the baby shower. Bailey takes it upon herself to try to invite Esther. Esther does make an appearance, but so does a mysterious Amish woman who approaches Emily and tells her that she knows the secret from her past, something she has kept hidden for years. Emily had an accidental pregnancy when she was a teenager and the decision was made to have the baby placed for adoption.

Later this mysterious woman is found dead in the kitchen of pretzel shop belonging to Emily's sister Esther. Emily wants Bailey to prove that Esther is innocent, but Esther and Bailey have never got along - and the Amish community doesn't take kindly to the English interfering in their lives.

This book was the most difficult to read out of any in the series so far. Quality of writing was superb as always, and I am still firmly team Amanda Flower all the way. Each time she writes a book I think there is no way that the next one can be better than the last, but she proves me wrong each time. Her experience with the Amish community in Ohio is also apparent as she doesn't approach the Amish community as a tourist, but rather as someone that lives in the same community as them. The difficult thing about this title was the subject matter; Accidental pregnancy, adoption, and children with different abilities. I found that I had to take some time between reading just to unwind from the sadness of some of the plot.

The mystery however is fantastic and dives into the complex world of the Amish most don't think about.

Definitely an amazing book and a great addition to the series!

Bailey has so much going on in her life and now she has been asked to help throw a baby shower for her friend Emily. She worries whether or not Emily will even want a shower because she is Amish, and showers aren't a part of their culture. Juliet thinks it will help with the relationship between the Amish and English. The shower seems to be going well until an unknown Amish woman shows up bringing up a secret that Emily has kept pretty well hidden for years. When the same woman ends up dead in Emily's family shop Bailey wonders who she is and what all she knows about Emily. Emily soon worries her sister Esther will be accused of killing the woman and asks Bailey for her help. Bailey begins looking for clues including asking Emily about her past secret and all it entailed. As she digs deeper into things more and more pieces of the pizzle begin to fit together. Will Bailey be able to solve this case before someone else ends up hurt or will she be able to reveal the killer in the end.

Lemon Drop Dead by Amanda Flower is the 6th An Amish Candy Shop Mystery. It can be read as a standalone for those new to the series, but you will be missing out on a delightful series of books. I found Lemon Drop Dead to be well-written with steady pacing and charming characters. I enjoy visiting Harvest, Ohio where there are Amish and Englisch residents. There is a great cast of characters that includes Bailey King, Clara King, Charlotte King, Aiden Brody, Juliet Brook, Margot Rawlings, Emily Keim, and let us not forget, Jethro. Jethro is a show stealer along with Bailey’s cat, Nutmeg and rabbit, Puff. Bailey is friendly, talented, and helpful. She is actually a little too obliging as she finds herself babysitting Jethro more and more often as Juliet performs her duties as a pastor’s wife. There is a sweet scene with Jethro, Puff, and Nutmeg that I just loved. I like that we get to know more about Emily is this story as well as what happened to her little girl. The whodunit was enjoyable. I had to laugh at the 9-1-1 operator’s response when Bailey called in the dead body. I enjoyed following Bailey as she interviewed people and collected clues. This mystery was more complex that others in the series which I loved. It is nicely wrapped up at the end of the book. I enjoyed the addition of Hannah (such a sweetie) and look forward to seeing more of her in future tales. Jethro, as always, added plenty of humor to the story. He is one cute and amusing pig. I was dismayed at Aiden’s news. It certainly puts a crink in Aiden and Bailey’s relationship. I was glad that Millie and Lois from An Amish Matchmaker Mystery series made an appearance in Lemon Drop Dead. They are a part of Harvest too. Fans of the series will be happy to know that Charlotte is ready to make a decision about her future (you will have to read the book to find out the answer). I am eager for the next tale in An Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. Lemon Drop Dead is an engaging cozy mystery with swine sitting, a child conundrum, a mystifying Amish woman, creamy chocolate, a baby shower bash, a sour sister, and relationship tribulations.

The ladies of Swissmen Sweets candy shoppe decide to plan a baby shower for their friend Emily Keith. The shower would be a good way to build relations between the church, the English community and the Amish in Harvest. When they went to Emily with the idea for a baby shower her one request was to invite her sister Esther who worked as the sole employee of Esther family Pretzels and spent every waking moment of her day. Juliet and Margot have everything planned with the theme being lemons which Emily loves. The shower goes off without a hitch everyone had a great time but Esther doesn’t show up which upsets Emily. When a strange women comes up to Emily that was not from her district and just wanted to tell her how happy she was for Emily. Telling her your second child will be so loved and looking forward to her child meeting her sibling. The children should be together. No one knows who the woman is or what her comments mean. Esther comes knocking on Baileys that she needed help for her to come to the pretzel shop now. They go through the back alley between the shops the door to the pretzel shop wide open and dim light came from inside. When they got inside they saw an Amish women slumped on the floor just by the open oven door. Her skin was clammy and cold to the touch and there was a red mark around her neck and the smell of gas. Now Bailey has another murder to solve and to figure out how Emily’s first child could be involved. All sins are found out in the end. Esther needed Baileys help since it wasn’t her first time being a witness in a murder investigation she knew the rules, needed her help and needed it badly.

’ve read all of the books in this series and this is a pivotal one. There is a lot of change going on but I won’t be telling.

Bailey King is the power behind the recent surge of success of Sweetsmen Sweets, an Amish candy shop in Harvest, Ohio. She is not Amish but her grandmother and cousin are. She works with both of them as well as Emily Esh.

Emily married against the wishes of her brother and sister, both of whom treated her poorly. Emily is about to give birth and the town wants to give her a baby shower to show how much they appreciate her.

The shower turns into the catalyst which begins some very strange and sad events, not the least of which is Emily’s sister, Esther, finding a murder victim in the kitchen of her family’s Amish pretzel shop.

Bailey is pulled into the investigation and much, much more. Bailey has a lot going on in her personal life with her boyfriend and with her Cousin Charlotte’s odd behavior.

There are cross over characters from Ms. Flower’s Amish matchmaking series. I enjoyed reading the book and am looking forward to new entries in the future.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.

Lemon Drop Dead by Amanda Flower is book six in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. It can be read as a stand alone but, this entire series is great.
Bailey has been "volunteered" to take the lead on hosting a baby shower for one of her assistants at the candy shop. Since Emily is Amish will she even want a shower and will anyone attend. Luckily the shower is a success and was well attended including an Amish stranger. The strange women shows up murdered later that night in Emily's sisters pretzel shop thus opening mystery upon mystery for Bailey to figure out. Then add boyfriend, Aiden possibly leaving the sheriff's department and maybe even Harvest.
There are plenty of plot twists, likeable characters, loveable pets, humor, and romance in the easy to read Cozy.
I was given an ARC by Kensington via NetGalley for an honest review..

Lots of interesting things going on in the town of Harvest: a baby shower, a mystery surrounding a little girl, buggy races and gambling, Charlotte finally making some decisions about her future, big changes for Bailey and Aiden, and a murder. Luckily, Bailey's on the case. Can she solve the mysteries and keep everyone safe?

Love this series so hard. The books are always interesting and fast-paced and keep my attention from the first page until the last. Plus there's some yummy recipes included.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

This is book 6 in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. I love all of the cozies created by Amanda Flower, she writes several, different series, but this one just might be my fav. I’ve always been drawn to books that include the Amish and their way of life. I love how this series weaves that part in with our English protagonist and residents. Harvest and the candy shop are great backdrops. I always enjoy seeing what confections Swissmen Sweets is working on and as the series has progressed the author has done a fantastic job of including growth in both her main and side characters.

The mystery was so well done in this book. I was stumped until the very end because there were way too many plausible suspects. The fact that it centered around Emily, her squabbling siblings and the first child she gave up was extra intriguing. I loved sweet Hannah and watching the characters interact with her hearing impairment. Lois definitely melted my heart during a few of those moments. It was also interesting to spend a few scenes in a neighboring village - which had it fair share of peculiar characters. I wouldn’t be sad if the candle lady showed up in future stories.

We also see one romance take a major leap, one romance take a shocking step back and those Esh siblings finally have to answer for their stubborn behavior. Of course Jethro, the pig, made some fun appearances too. I definitely look forward to continuing the series and seeing how some of these storylines unfold.

I just loved this book even though after reading some of the reviews, I was a little worried about what might happen. But after reading it, I feel confident enough in Bailey and Aiden themselves as characters created by an author I totally trust, that I know things will eventually straighten out for their happily ever after. Their love seemed as strong as ever, and speaking of that, you definitely need to read #5.5 Candy Cane Crime before you read this book, because it'll make this book so much better!

There were sure a lot of suspects in this mystery, and secrets long-hidden were brought out, so there were a couple of people with very happy endings as shown by the party thrown at the end of the book. I really liked the new character of Hannah--but you need to read it and find out who she is! It was fun to have Lois and Millie from the Amish Matchmaker series show up. That Lois is such a hoot, and I just love her character!

I hadn't suspected whodunit, and there were some other satisfying arrests made along with that person. All the characters were just at their best, and I'm super excited for the next book!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.

This was a solid three stars for me. Cute, but forgettable. I literally don't even remember the reason behind the murder and I just finished it two nights ago. I love the Amish Candy Shop series; I've read them all, even the novellas. This one focused more on secondary characters rather than the main character, Bailey. Not my favorite. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Lemon Drop Dead is the sixth book in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series by Amanda Flower.

Bailey King has decided that she would like to have a baby shower for Emily, her employee at Swissmen Sweets. She doubts the Amish people have them for their members, but she would like to do something special for Emily. When Bailey shares her thought with Charlotte, her Amish cousin and employee offers to organize the shower. The shower has been arranged, but Emily has one request, that being that Bailey will invite her sister, Emily, to the event. At the shower, a woman that no one recognizes approaches Emily and tells her that she knows about Emily’s first child. Very few people know about the child that was given up for adoption shortly after its birth. After the baby shower was over, Bailey went back to shop for the last hour of the business day as she was contemplating heading home when she heard a knock on the shop’s door. When she went to answer, she is surprised that Esther is at the door. Bailey and Esther have had their differences in the past, and Esther was the last person Bailey expected to see. Esther says she needs Bailey’s help and begs her to come to her pretzel shop next door. There lying on the floor in the kitchen is the woman’s lifeless body that had accosted Emily earlier.

I always enjoy my visits to Harvest and reading about the wonderful residents. The book is well-written and plotted; there were enough twists and turns that I was guessing until the end as to who the killer was. The characters are exciting and well-developed. Charlotte has decided as to whether she will be baptized Amish or become an Englisher. At the same time, Bailey and Aiden may have hit a bump in the road with their romance as Aiden is thinking of leaving the sheriff’s department. There are also delicious-sounding recipes included in the book.

I’m looking forward to my next visit to Sweetman Sweets.

This is a wonderful series. The characters are realistic, likable, entertaining, complex, and have great relationships with one another. The mystery moves at a fast steady pace with quite a few misdirects to keep the reading guessing The secondary storyline is just as interesting and surprising as the mystery. I recommend this to cozy mystery and dessert fans.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.
