The illustrations in Jump the Moon were very good and the story reminded me of Black Beauty and the heartbreak of losing a horse that you had a great relationship with then reconnecting later in both the horse and the person's life. It would make a great bedtime read if a young horse lover was too young to read on their own.but regardless has a great message that love lasts forever.

What a cute story! The art work was beautiful and my daughter loved the horse and how the girl in the story had blonde hair, like she does, and braided the horse's hair. The message of being kind to others who don't necessarily seem to deserve it or are not nice to others, was a beautiful lesson for children. I love how the girl's relentless love and kindness for Me Too helped changed her demeanor, which is a wonderful parallel to how we should treat other people. I also really loved how the girl searched for Me Too when she was older. It is a sweet and simple story that is based on a true story. We really enjoyed it!

A pony, a girl and a dream the perfect story plot for a book! What a beautifully written story about a girl who bonded with a pony to be separated and then reunited years later. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is so sweet. This will be a definite hit to any horse crazy girl. Even better it is based on a true story!

This book was super sweet and I love that it was inspired by a true story. My husband and daughters actually teared up while reading it the illustrations were really pretty as well. Pictures I could easily see on my oldest daughters walls.

This heartfelt book has good pacing and will be perfect for horse girls. It follows the story of a girl and her horse who are separated when she's young and their journey to find each other again. I enjoyed the soft art style, which fit the dream-like portions of the book and suited the story. The pacing and coloring were both very well done.

The beautiful cover for Jump the Moon by Kathy Simmers author, and Marjorie Van Heerdan illustrator entices you to open and read this story. a misunderstood pony finds acceptance and love only to seemingly lose it. Don’t we all feel misunderstood at times, which means we were rooting for the underdog pony to find that love again.

The lovely illustrations give this realistic story a magical feel while it is a down to earth story. One of the things I liked is how it is a pattern story. By the end even my granddaughters would join in together to say Me Too’s thoughts. That just made it even more fun to read. The author’s note at the end tell that it is based on a true story. We all loved that it especially had the real life happy ending.

This was a favorite of the day for my granddaughters when we read it together. They both gave it 5 stars.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

The bond between a little girl and a horse who are separated and find each other many years later. I found this a very sweet story that would undoubtedly find a place in the hearts of many horse-loving little girls. The vocabulary is friendly to young readers or could be a great parent/child read.

While the story is a bit simplistic, the illustrations are beautiful and I think horse crazy children (and the grown ups they become) will like the sweet story.

Such a sweet story! Jump the Moon is a story about a girl that longed for a pony of her own and a pony that no one wanted to keep. They meet one summer and grow close, only to lose each other when summer comes to an end. A wonderful story about remembering those we love and reuniting with them when the time is right. I thought that the story was sweet and the illustrations were beautiful. I really enjoyed the story and would recommend it to others.

This was a beautiful story with beautiful images. I read this with my 4 year old and he loved it minus the sad parts, his words.

This is a heart warming story that gives hope that happy endings are possible in real life. Too often we hear of the sadness, but this story helps bring joy.

A young girl befriends an unfriendly pony, but the pony isn't able to shy away from her steady but gentle kindness. They form a bond, only to be separated from each other unexpectedly. However, nothing can keep them from searching for each other.

A beautifully written and illustrated book that not only has ponies, and who doesn't love ponies, but shows the power of compassion and how kindness is never forgotten.

Oh what a lovely, heartfelt book. I have never been horse crazy myself but lots of little girls are and this book would be perfect for them. Really for any child who loves animals this book would be perfect. Also has truly beautiful art as well. I loved it!

Review of eBook

There once was a girl with long blond hair who had always dreamed of having a pony that she could love forever. She worked at a barn so that she could ride the ponies, even scruffy gray Me Too that everyone said was just plain mean. Everyone at the barn was afraid of Me Too . . . except the girl with the long blond hair.

The girl doesn’t believe the pony is mean; she thinks Me Too only wants someone to be nice to her. The girl with the long blond hair rides the gray pony every day; she tells her that she loves her and she shares her cookies with the pony. They go to horse shows and everyone is surprised when they win every class . . . everyone except the girl with the long blond hair. Together, the pony and the girl know that they can do anything, perhaps even jump the moon.

When summer was over, Me Too went back to her old home and the girl planned to see her when summer came again. But that didn’t happen. Me Too was sold several times while the girl went to college and got married.

Then Me Too began to dream about the girl with the long blond hair. And the girl began to dream about Me Too. Will the girl and the horse be able to find each other once again?

Young readers ages four and up are the target audience for this lovely picture book in which they see the power of love, the strength of trust, and joy of bonding between the girl and the horse as they learn they should never limit the possibilities and never give up on their dreams.

While equestrians young and old are sure to find something to appreciate here, the story has wider appeal simply for its message of acceptance, compassion, and love and of following a dream. Enhanced by the stunning, soft-color illustrations, this is a story that reminds all animal lovers to appreciate the joy that comes from simply being together.

Based on a true story, this heartwarming tale is sure to elicit a smile [and perhaps a happy tear or two] from every reader.

Highly recommended.

This was a very heartwarming book that touched my family when we read it. The connection the main character has with the pony shows how compassion and love can change lives. I loved the nostalgic aspect of the book, especially naming the main character "the girl with the long blonde hair". The illustrations were beautiful and the writing was clear and poignant. From a parents perspective, this reminds me to help my children value the little things in their life because we never know when they might go away or become forgotten about.
