I love a good bodyguard trope, and this is a cute "what if Harry and Meghan moved next door?" rom-com.

Nothing is ever gonna beat The Royal We in terms of royalty fan-fic, but this is a cute different side.

This was a charming read and was so unexpected to me. It's fun to think of what a Meaghan and Harry type duo would do when they got to America and just wanted some time to be themselves. And with a little added romance to it, it's a fun read! Definitely a good beach/pool read.

Thank you to @netgalley and @berkleyromance for my gifted copy of The Royals Next Door, by Karina Halle. This fun romance is out now!

I loved this book! It was such a fun, quick, easy read. It also reminded me of Harry and Meghan, and their move to Canada in 2020. I’m looking forward to Karina Halle’s next book!

This book was so fun. I loved the nod to Harry and Megan and all of the excitement that comes with a royal visit, secret or not. I found Piper to be quite charming and I rooted for her throughout the whole book. Harrison, the bodyguard was quite steamy and I wasn't sure how she resisted him for so long! A good summer read.

This is a sweet romance between a bodyguard and a teacher that has just the right amount of humor, steam, and royalty. If you're looking for an easy fun escape for a few hours this is the romcom you need.

This book had me laughing out loud, wanting to find my own broody bodyguard. Not normally a big fan of the royals but I loved how similar this book was to Harry and Meghans story in real live, it made all of it realistic. Only thing that would have made it before would have been for it to be Dual POV

enjoyed the Royals Next Door. The light-hearted enemies to friends to lovers trope brought a smile to my face throughout the book.

While the “royals” may resemble a current royal couple, they aren’t the focus of this tale. Their stoic, buff, tattooed, gruff bodyguard meets his match in a sweet second-grade teacher who runs an anonymous romance novel podcast at night.

The story addresses mental health and “parenting the parent” since Piper takes care of her mother, who has some “issues.” The last thing they need is the media frenzy that descends on their island home when the royal couple moves in next door.

Harrison, the over-protective bodyguard, wants to maintain his suspicions that Piper isn’t trustworthy, but her sunny disposition wears him down.

The other side characters add lots of situational comedy/drama to the story, whether it’s Piper’s ex or local residents.

This fast-paced story will leave you smiling. While it touches on heavier subjects, they are treated with finesse and certainly don’t overpower the story.

The Royals Next Door makes a beautiful read for the beach or snuggled by the fire.

Okay, Karina Halle, WHERE DO I GET ONE?? And by one, I mean Harrison, the hero of her latest book. Just tell me! I need to know! If you haven’t read THE ROYALS NEXT DOOR, don’t expect a royal romance, it’s so much better! A romance between a romance podcaster heroine (okay, she’s an elementary school teacher too) and the royal BODYGUARD next door – we love to see it!

I have to admit, I could talk forever about bodyguard romances – they’re my kryptonite! But besides being a trope I love I think the reason this book shined was how wonderful the heroine is. She is smart and knows herself really well, she was honestly a joy to read. The way she took care of her mother touched me to the core.

For a few cons, the hero was a little two-dimensional – just a little. I mean it was hot and stoic and had a bit of a backstory, but I wanted a little more grit. Harrison was a grit tease. I also thought the book relied a little toooo much on a real-life royal couple and it got weird. It was like all the author did was change the names!

Overall, this was a charming, fun, romance with a few twists to keep it interesting and some steam to spice it up! I am looking forward to my next Karina Halle read.

Royal romance with a bodyguard twist meets small-town romance in The Royals Next Door.

Inspired by a certain royal couple who moved to America, The Royals Next Door is set on a sleepy island off the coast of Canada. It’s not quite a royal romance as it pairs Harrison, a grumpy bodyguard for the royal couple, with Piper, their romance-reading and podcasting school teacher neighbor.

Piper lives with her mother, who has debilitating PTSD, so her life is pretty routine and mundane until the rumors of a royal visit start swirling. Harrison takes his job very seriously, and protecting the royal family is his only priority.

While Piper and Harrison start off on rocky ground, their relationship develops into a friendship and eventually into something steamy, clandestine, and exciting. Harrison is a hard-shelled grump with a gooey center, and Piper is a strong heroine who stands up for herself when she needs to.

I enjoyed Piper and Harrison’s story. I felt like I was getting a behind-the-scenes look into the life of a royal, but also a romance between an unlikely pair. The familial commitments, the mental health topics, and the challenges of living on a tiny island while dealing with a media frenzy are handled well and keep the story interesting.

The Royals Next Door is an enjoyable romance that is both light and fun while including some deeper emotional topics. I recommend this one for fans of the royals or anyone looking for a slow-burning next-door neighbor romance.

A super fun, page-turning, summer rom com!

Royals and slow burn! A "by the pool" or day at the beach binge read!

This book was absolutely CHARMING. I loved it so much. Setting aside the royal angle, the MCs were so human and vulnerable it was impossible not to root for them hard, and the royal bit added a nice bit of complication to it. Can't wait for more from this author.

The romance I didn’t know I needed in my life! I just fell in love with the bodyguard romance as they navigated close spaces, complex issues, and the media.

This book was literally the perfect summer read. I love a royal story and Karina Halle totally delivers in The Royals Next Door. And what makes it better is the way that mental health is handled. This book has it all. Romantic, charming, and just delightful to read.

Piper and Harrison are so great, Piper is a small town girl and Harrison being the strong British guy is a perfect match, I loved how they move together and work together throughout the story. their story is sweet and funny and passionate. I liked Piper becoming friends with the royals but also Harrison. I loved Pipers journey with her mother as well. So well done,

As soon as I started reading The Royals Next Door I had a feeling I was reading the best book ever.

The story pulled me in immediately. The book is written in first person, following Piper who was so easy to relate to.
We two, we are pretty similar, us both being book reviewers and know how it is to have a person relying on you to the point when it effects your life choices.
So when I say that the story hit close to home, I really mean it.

What also made this romance stand up from all the others I reas lately is the love interest, lovely Harrison the bodyguard who won me almost at first sight.
I am not the one to swoon over book characters, it is really rare that I give lots of my attention to guys I read about in my books but Harrison... he was like a giant teddy bear I fell in love with and I got attached to him.
I still can't figure out why, but he definitely stands out.

The story is basically a fan fiction about Meghan Markle and prince Harry (who are named Monica and Eddie) coming to Canada.
When I first heard it pitched like that, I wasn't interested in it, but after soooooo many people I trust started raving about it, I decided to give it a try and oh boy, how glad I am.

My life would be emptier without this lovely love story in it!

Mark my words, this will be one of my TOP 5 of 2021!

The novel contains some explicit scenes and also Harrison like to use F word, so keep that in mind.

Although it is fun and entertaining, the story also talks about mental health.
In my opinion, the author did a good job talking about serious topic in a way it didn't took a book to dark path.

Also, one thing I also appreciate was how Piper talked about romance novels.
We romance readers got called out at least once in our lifetime from bookish snobs, or have heard that romance is not a serious genre... and Piper dealt with that problem so well I applaud her (I am serious, I really clapped with my hands).

In the end, I want to encourage you to give TheRoyals Next Door a try.
Even if it doesn't sound appealing at first, maybe you will be pleasantly surprised, just like I was.

I was drawn to this title as a fan of The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan. Unfortunately, I could not get into The Royals Next Door. I found the exposition to be silly and unrealistic, and I could not suspend my disbelief to get immersed in the plot. As a teacher, a description of a student puking into the main character's purse really felt like a reach for comedy that just didn't hit.

This was a DNF for me.
