Bristol Bachmann and her Black Labrador retriever, Toby, work for Phoenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency, sniffing out bombs. When someone begins blowing up the dams in Minneapolis, Bristol is brought back in contact with her former boyfriend, Remington Jones, now the safety supervisor for the dams. This second chance romance is paired with a fast-paced, heart-pounding mystery and a race against time to find out who is blowing up the dams.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The action kept my attention, the mystery kept me in suspense, and the romance kept me cheering for Bristol and Remington to find their way back to forgiveness and to each other.

Romantic suspense readers cannot go wrong with this book.

This was my first book by this author and I was happy to find that I enjoyed their writing style. The MC's were fine overall despite some frustrations on my own part, but the romance progressed well around the suspense plot. As for the plot I felt it moved along fairly well but could have used a bit more oomph. I'm not sure what to say regarding that without spoiling it, but it lacked a bit of realness and punch that wasn't so formulaic. Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

I highly recommend this book, it was so good. Lots of action and suspense that kept my nose in this book even when I was supposed to be doing other things, ha! The story was great, as were the characters!

An environmental terrorist is planting explosives on dams in the Twin Cities, and Bristol Bachmann and her bomb-sniffing dog must hurry to find them before everything ends up underwater. That means teaming up with the dams’ supervisor—an ex-boyfriend she never thought she’d see again. When the bomber sets his sights on Bristol and her K-9, it becomes a lethal game of cat and mouse.

I appreciated that Rising Danger is set in the Twin Cities where I have lived my whole life. Reading about familiar places is always fun. The author did a good job setting the stage, and she certainly knows a thing or two about dogs! The plot of this work of Christian romantic suspense was good, the pace was fast and explosive, and I enjoyed the faith elements she used to tell the story, but if overt Christian messages make you feel uncomfortable, this one might not be for you. As I was reading, it felt like I was watching a Hallmark movie, however, which is something I avoid. Bristol’s constant worrying about falling for Remington (these types of names are always used in romance novels) became tiresome. I still enjoyed reading it, but it only earned 3 stars from me.

Good, steady pace, Christian suspense book with lots of action, drama and some light romance. I really enjoyed it and read it in one day.

Terrorists, bombs, k9 force, an elite team of women, flooding, dams… so many things happening and lots of suspense and twists.

Underlining themes of Gods love, forgiveness, faith, redemption, trust and sacrifice. There is alot of talk throughout of Christian beliefs, prayers, and relying on faith while Bristol, Gramma, and Rem’s faith (and lack of) are greatly tested. I enjoyed the spiritual element of this story. This wasn’t just a “clean” book, it was a Christian book as well. I like that the author is not afraid to share her beliefs.

I also enjoyed getting to know the k9 team and I hope there will be future books with the elite team female handlers and their dogs. Highly recommend! I loved it!

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

What a great, action-packed story about forgiveness and trust. "But here she was, the same terror taking hold of her heart and wringing it out. The same helplessness sinking into her soul. The worst was about to happen, and she couldn't do a thing to stop it." Suspense lovers won't want to miss this. I was given a copy by Netgalley for an honest review.

An amazing, suspenseful, well-written story! Great characters and storyline. This was my first book to read by this author, and it won’t be my last.

I really enjoyed this read from Jerusha! Talk about explosive! I loved her main characters - including Toby the explosives detection dog - and how she's part of an amazing all-female K9 agency! I felt like the pacing was great, taking us from one thing to the next, and the threat of new bombs was always on the horizon.

I struggled a little with Bristol and her aversion to Remington at first since she's a pretty tough kind of character. I personally felt like Rem was a little too soft, allowing a lot of flack from her, but I think it worked out well in the end!

If you enjoy high-stakes, adorable but super useful dogs, and romance, this should be your next read!

My rating: 4*

I love dogs and how faithful and protective they are. When I started reading this book, I knew it was going to be a good one just by the description of it. When you put in a story about K9s that are amazing at detecting danger I was hooked. One of the best dogs I ever owned was a lab. She was solid black and very smart. I never worried about my safety when she was around. Meeting Toby in this explosive story was wonderful. The author captures the instinct of the dog with precision and lets readers see how these dogs operate at their task. I am amazed at how they can sniff out bombs, find lost people and rescue them as well.

Bristol is a good character with a past that keeps her from trusting or even letting many get close to her. It was so heartbreaking to know that she still harbors anger from an accident that took her father and sister away. Her bitterness is not only at her mother but God as well. In her line of work she is smart , attentive is with a team that always works together. I loved learning about how she decided to take on this new position and how she knows her dog is on point when needed. I won’t go into much about the past with her and Rem because that is an important part of the story that needs to be unwrapped slowly by the readers.

The intensity of the story is good and I loved how the author incorporated dams as the main focus of the danger that could be catastrophic. Someone is planting bombs around dams and is determined that no one will stop their plan. However as Bristol and her dog start to disarm the bombs, that makes someone extremely unhappy. The action picks up here as it is a race against time to stop the person responsible for these evil acts.

Rem is someone I liked right away because was he was vulnerable around Bristol. He wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn’t hide the fact that he wants a second chance when her. In Bristol’s eyes, he can’t be trusted and doesn’t believe that he has changed. I really liked the part where Rem comes to a point where he needs guidance as he struggles with his relationships. We all can relate to how it feels when you think you have let someone down. How do you get them to forgive you? He believes that God is punishing him from all the sins he has committed. To me the most powerful part of the story is when he hears someone say to him, “He doesn’t look at you and see your sins anymore. He see Jesus and His righteousness.”

The story has twists throughout and keeps readers on the edge of the seat as Bristol and the team try to outsmart the bomber. The adrenaline pumps as a hostage situation tries to distract Bristol. I loved the ending and especially how powerful the lesson about forgiveness is in this not to be missed suspenseful story. I look forward to more books from this very talented writer. Thank you for showing us that K-9s are hero’s and deserve to be recognized for their devotion to keep us safe.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Rising Danger
By Jerusha Agen

This K-9 team is running out of time...

The Twin Cities are in danger. Someone is threatening the areas dams and Phoenix K-9's newest team, Bristol Bachmann and her partner Toby, are being called upon to help thwart the attack. But things just got really complicated. Her ex-boyfriend is her DNR contact from getting into the dams and the bomber has her in his sights.

The weather has the rivers at a high level and the stability of the dams couldn't be more crucial. The bomber couldn't have picked a worse time to strike and he (or she) doesn't seem to care about the cost these attacks will exact. People will die, structures will be destroyed, and the long-term impact is anyone's guess. As the investigation reaches a stalemate the bomber's taunting threats become even more personal. Can they stop him before he releases the river from its confinement?

Rising Danger is an excellent read and I can honestly say it made me want to get to know the rest of the women and dogs who make up of Phoenix K-9's. The book is well-paced and keeps the reader in suspense from beginning to end. And really it is almost impossible to go wrong with a book when you have a good-plotline and a dog involved. This is a clean reading Romantic Suspense and if you love Love Inspired Suspense you will want to add this book to your summer TBR list.

** Fun fact this book is a prequel for a new series starring Phoenix K-9's! **

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion - All thoughts expressed are my own.

While I enjoyed the premise and the characters, there was a slight lack of realism when reading about the dams and the explosives. Something just fell a little bit flat for me there. I loved the heroic dog!

If you're looking for a Christian suspense that offers a good blend of edge of your seat action with romance, and will satisfy every dog loving reader too... look no further than Rising Danger. The action in this story started early and didn't let up to the end. The characters were well written and drew you in...and the furry friends were definitely a nice touch for those who enjoy that type of thing. I felt like the author really knew what she was talking about in this story and that certainly came through and added some believability as well. I definitely felt like I walked away knowing a little bit more having read to it too! Overall, I found it to be an enjoyable read and one that fans of Christian romantic suspense are sure to enjoy.

Jerusha Agen is a new to me author. I really like that she writes about K9s since I haven’t read many books like that. I found the idea of this book to be pretty interesting. I was really drawn to this book by the cover. I only briefly read the synopsis because I wanted to be surprised by the story. I found the suspense parts of the book to be pretty interesting. I did struggle with the fact that the character perspectives seemed to change abruptly. That pulled me out of the story a bit. I’m willing to give this author another chance.

4 stars
This has one of my favorite troupes second chance romance. The story had wonderful character development, plenty of action and suspense, and dogs. I enjoyed the attention the author gave to the pacing. Many of the scenes read like I was watching a movie, probably due to the fact I listened to the audio book and the narrators did an amazing job bringing the story and the characters to life. It allowed the characters enough dialogue to let the action and suspense to build up for a very nail biting conclusion. I loved how the dogs also seemed to be their own characters as well rather than just fillers. The author did a wonderful job building up the tension and chemistry between Rem and Bristol. Even after all the hurt and years apart, the feelings were still there to build a solid foundation for a better and stronger relationship that comes with growth and maturity. Their partnership both professional and personally was really genuine. If you are a fan of a wholesome mystery with a bit of romance sprinkled in, this book is for you!

Bristol works for Phoenix K-9 working with a bomb sniffing dog. She is called in to help find a bomb that has supposedly been planted in a dam in the Twin Cities. As a child she was caught in Hurricane Katrina and lost half her family in the flooding that occurred. She still has nightmares about being trapped on the roof of her home. There's no way she wants that to happen to anyone else. While searching, she encounters her ex-boyfriend, Remington Jones. Remington is in charge of security at the dams. Bristol does not take him seriously and doesn't believe he has changed since they went to the police academy. The terrorist sets his sights on Bristol she won't give up looing for bombs.

This is a great action and mystery. It is also a great book about forgiveness and letting go of the past.

I was given this book by Love Inspired Trade via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Rising Danger by Jerusha Agen was a new twist on the K9 storyline. Bristol’s K9 is looking for a bomb at a collection of dams. The added drama of Bristol’s history surviving a flooding was an interesting twist that made me wonder if others have PTSD from similar situations.

Remington re-enters Bristol’s life with a lot of baggage. He was kicked out of their police academy for cheating. I thought she was a little self center that she kept thinking about how his cheating affected her.

The mystery was very well done as to who the bomber was.
I will definitely read additional books by this author and hope that the other members of the female K9 team each get their own books.

An environmental terrorist decided to target a dam in Twin Cities. Bristol and her bomb sniffing dog is on the case to find the bombs before the unthinkable happens. Unfortunately for Bristol the Dam's supervisor is her ex Remington and will be working close with him until they can find the person looking to take down this dam.

This was a pretty great mystery suspense novel. I really enjoyed it. I loved that there was so much going on, plenty of moments when things got a bit dicey I mean this guy really wanted to take this dam down and Bristol and her dog was in the way so set his sights on her leaving her some threatening gifts along the way. Remington still likes Bristol but after what he's done in the past that cause her and many others to loose his trust now he's doing everything he can to get that back. He's willing to risk his life to getting close to the possible terrorist just to find the person quicker through channels others just weren't looking into. This book was pretty heavy with the religious aspect with faith and god I usually stray away from looks like this but wasn't too bad I suppose. Overall this was a pretty great book I was kept on my toes wondering what would happen next and I really enjoyed it.
