This is a beautiful book. The author wrote each chapter with step-by-step instructions. The line drawn sketches are perfect touches.

I have been meditating for several years but never get tired of finding new sources. This book is written for all different meditation levels. I had my granddaughter, who is a beginner, read this book too. She said it was very interesting and the instructions were easy to follow. If you are new to meditation or have been meditating for a while, this is definitely a book you would enjoy.

Really easy to understand, I have recently become interested in mindfulness and meditation and so am glad to have discovered this book. Thank you to netgalley for the opportunity. I have had issues trying to access to finish but what I have read I have found really good, and so well out in a way to make it easy to understand each aspect. The book covers a very broad range of topics like muscle relaxation, sleep relaxation, colour therapy, sadness and grief and negativity, which gives a broad high level understanding.

Guided meditation has become increasingly popular in recent years. Stress, anxiety, inner anxiety… make more and more people need a refuge, a fresh breath, a moment of pause.
Unsurprisingly, in the century of speed, in a hectic world that seems to progress at an incredible pace, fewer and fewer people really know how to disconnect, search inside and relax.
Guided meditation is a form of meditation that has the particularity of being led by someone else. When we are in the beginning, we often need someone to guide us, to guide our steps to achieve our goals and to feel safe. This book is amazing, I really like the technique and I will use some of the meditation techniques from it. Some of them were already familiar but I can recommend it to any beginner.

The Power of Guided Meditation by Jessica Crow is a nonfiction guidebook on how to begin a meditation practice. Crow divides the book into three parts and provides numerous meditation practices aimed at beginners. As someone who already meditates, I found this book very informative and it gave me new meditation ideas to try out. The book is set up similar to audio guided meditation, and Crow suggests recording yourself reading the meditation “script” and listening to it during your practice. I thought this would be too distracting, and decided to try the meditations through memory of the passage. It definitely did the job, but I feel that it would be better to be guided through the process step by step rather than trying to remember each step. For this reason, I think the best experience of this book would be as an audiobook. I don’t think there is an audiobook available for this book as of yet, but whenever there is definitely check that out. If you are more of a meditation newbie, I would try out guided meditation podcasts or apps like Headspace or Calm before venturing into the examples in this book. I recommend this book for people that are interested in meditation and want a way to further their practice. Rating: ⅘

*Note: I was given this book as an e-ARC from @netgalley and @quarto.knows (Fair Winds Press)

I wanted to like this book. As someone who uses a guided meditation app nearly everyday I expected that I would read this book and feel rejuvenated and motivated in my practice. I thought that the introductory information was really well done; that it was informative and motivating. I liked how the chapters were set up, how the goals of each meditation were stated, how it clearly tells you how to prepare, what parts of the body to focus on, and how difficult it "should" be.

But then you are supposed to listed to two sample meditations on a website and afterward be able to use your own device to record yourself reading these meditations and magically know how long to pause between each paragraph to make this 20 minute meditation take 20 minutes. I feel like this is asking a lot from the reader and that they are better off putting their $17 toward an app that will give them guided meditations. I wish the purchase of this book would come with access to a website where these meditations were already recorded.

I have trouble calming my mind enough to meditate but recently I have embarked on a journey of self-discovery and improvement. This means, reconnecting with my spirituality, and that in turn means meditation.

Thank you so much for the chance to read this amazing resource! I will have to buy a physical copy. I believe this is a wonderful tool for both novices and experienced meditators. The way the book is split is very helpful and I feel helps the reader to properly digest the information.

This book really explains how our brains work and what benefits we can have by meditating. Truly an incredible book!

This book has been a great read. The activities are super and I like how the author has broken them down into parts. I like the questionning too and the importance set on being mindful e.g. mindful eating.
The way was split up was really helpful and I could turn to which ever pages I needed easily. A super informative read and so important in these current times.

The Power of Guided Meditation is one of the more helpful books I’ve run across. It has always been a struggle for me to understand proper meditation as my brain is typically anywhere but where I’d like it to be, but this book is incredibly helpful in explaining things in a way that makes perfect sense. I will 100% be utilizing this book to help in my journey of meditation, mindfulness, and other self-help type things.

Thanks so much to Jessica Crow, DK Publishing, and NetGalley for an eBook edition of this book to read and review honestly.
