This was an ok story.
Vince had everything he could desire, a very successful company a beautiful wife and lived the American dream through hard work. They desperately wanted a baby but that never happened.
Then Vince made a huge mistake, Layla came to work at his company, she was beautiful and sexy, and he had an affair with her.
Layla was not what she seemed to be, and then she was murdered.
Life then became very difficult for Vince.

Got me hooked early into the book and had me compelled to read on. I read the book in a couple of sittings The plot twisted and turned and kept me guessing about who the murderer was till right towards the end when the big reveal came. I would definitely recommend this book
My only slight criticism is a little too much background description at times for me.

This book was an exciting ride from the very beginning! When I’m already gasping in the first third of a story, I know I’m in for a good thriller. Definitely the case with this book; I found it to be a very impressive debut novel.

Vince is a lucky man, in his eyes and the eyes of most of the world. CEO of a large tech company, gorgeous blonde yoga-instructing wife, Nicole, a huge house along with a penthouse apartment in NYC…he seems to have it all.

What the world doesn’t know is that he also has a tasty little 20-something intern named Layla. His marriage has been rocky after multiple failed IVF attempts, and he has strayed into the arms of a much younger woman. Soon, he realizes how stupid he’s being taking this risk at losing his wife, and tries to break things off with Layla. She’s not taking it well, even though he made it clear from the beginning that this was to be a casual affair.

One morning, he arrives at work to find everyone talking about one thing: that hot little intern was found dead in Central Park, and it definitely wasn’t an accident. As the police begin their investigation, they start looking into her relationship with the CEO. Vince is shady when questioned, anxious, lying to them to avoid his wife finding out about his indiscretions. The police though, unbeknownst to him, have Layla’s diary, and what he’s telling them in no way matches up with what she had written before her death.

Soon, his wife knows everything, the WORLD knows everything due to his semi-celebrity status and the salaciousness of an older man in power being in an extramarital relationship with a young intern. As more and more comes out in the news, Vince realizes he’s close to losing everything. When the handcuffs click on his wrists, he knows his life is over…but he still maintains his innocence.

This book was mostly written from the points of view of Vince and Allison, the main detective on the murder case. Towards the end, a couple other characters join in the narration and that’s when it goes from good to crazy good. This jumped around a lot (very ‘Gone Girl’) but never got convoluted. It was full of twists and turns from beginning to end, and I was thoroughly entertained by the entire thing. An excellent debut thriller, and a definite recommend read!

(I’d like to thank the publisher, author and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.)

OK!!!!!!!

This book got me on the first chapter, it was short and got to the point and I was like "WHOA, THIS IS GONNA BE A GOOD ONE" and it really was, I enjoyed everything about this book. I felt like it dragged a little, and there was so much mention of Vince and where he came from, and then very little about any of the characters til we got into 70% of the book. It dragged a little, but there was drama in every corner and I loved that, but then as we approach 80% I had my suspicions before but as i got to that percentage I knew who it was already. But I am not going to lie, it still gripped me, I think the way the author placed the suspense so early in the book is what made me want to stick around and finish it. This is the first time where I really did not care about my connection with the characters, I cared more about the story, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!!!!!!!!! WHO DID IT!!! WHY!!!! GIVE ME ALL OF THIS MARRIAGES SECRETS PLEASE!!!!! LOL, I liked it alot.

Thanks Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book and congrats to the author this is her debut book and it was AWESOME!

First of all, I was surprised to learn that this was a debut book as it was extremely well written and intriguing from page one. I genuinely enjoyed the characters, especially because the author gave us a taste of many different personalities- believable characters that one couldn’t help but emphasize with as well as deep, dark characters who created mystery and suspense. In addition, the reader knows the main character has made his share of mistakes in life and isn’t even all that like able, yet you still find yourself liking him.
I would definitely recommend this book!

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my review.

This book was enjoyable, easy reading. Unfortunately I didn't find it that gripping or original and there weren't enough twists in it for me. It's well written and I like how it covers lots of characters. It wouldn't put me off reading more by this author, and as a debut normal there's potential for some great following stories.

Good Story with potential to be a great story had the plot been just a touch less predictable. However the fact that I was still intrigued as to how it would all play out in the end had me unable to just put it down.

I was doubly impressed with the fact that I was reading a new author. The writing was gripping and well done. The characters all felt real and I was able to feel that connection you get when you find yourself invested in a story.

I’d definitely recommend The Guilty Husband.

Vince Taylor seems to have it all. When an intern from his tech firm, KitzTech, is found dead, Vince’s perfect world is turned upside down. After the truth is revealed about Vince’s illicit affair with the murdered intern, he becomes the main suspect and his life begins to crumble. Stephanie DeCarolis’ debut thriller is fast paced with twists throughout. Told from multiple POVs and a nonlinear timeline, the events perfectly come together creating an intense thriller I could not put down. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
Thank you NetGalley and HQ Digital for my ARC.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was quite surprised to learn that this is the author’s debut book when I got to the acknowledgements. This read as if it came from a very seasoned psychological thriller writer, so I am extremely excited to read more from Stephanie DeCarolis in the future! Although the plot is one that's been done many times - i.e. a husband cheats on his seemingly perfect wife with his intern while his wife is at home coping with not being able to provide him children - she still finds a way to make it stand out from similar books and surprise us with a huge twist towards the end. I was enamored with this from beginning to end because the characters were so well written and developed perfectly. I needed to know what each of them was up to so badly and it kept me quickly turning the pages and thinking about when I'd be able to get back to reading this. This book felt very even paced way and the POV switches between a few of the characters so we get to see each of their perspectives of what happened, which is one of my favorite parts of this book (and any psychological thriller in general). As this is my favorite genre, I am a bit biased and tend to like them all but I will say that I was definitely surprised by the couple of twists and although they aren't entirely unique, I still didn't see them coming. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. This was published 3/19/21.

I really enjoyed The Guilty Husband and couldn’t wait to pick up where I left off - always the sign of a great psychological thriller. This time, we mainly read from the perspective of the guilty husband himself, Vince. A man with everything (except for a child his wife Nicole is desperately trying to conceive ), Vince begins an affair with Layla, a beautiful young intern at his company. When Layla is found murdered, all signs point to. Vince - . a husband certainly guilty of an affair but is he really capable to be guilty of murder? The court of public opinion including the press, his colleagues, possibly his wife and especially the detectives pressured to solve the case. All but convict him. Told in my favorite now and before chapter style, I was intrigued the whole way through and even felt sympathetic for a cheating husband which can only be attributed to great writing, I can’t wait for the next book by this debut author.

Vince is CEO of a successful tech company and has a beautiful wife. One of Vince’s interns, Layla, is found murdered opposite his apartment. Vince is much closer to Layla than he’s letting on.

Alison is the detective investigating the case. This is her first major case and she’s keen to be as efficient as possible and make an arrest.

The story is mainly told from the points of view of Vince and Alison.

It’s easy to read and interesting enough to keep you wondering what’s going to happen.

I didn’t mind the characters too much and was definitely suspicious of Layla!

I found the ending a bit of a letdown and expected a bigger twist.

On the whole, the book was alright and an entertaining enough read.

The Guilty Husband is a debut mystery/ Suspense novel written by Stephanie DeCarolis
Vince Taylor and Nicole have been happily married for many years. Layla comes to work as an intern at the technology firm Vince is the CEO. Surprise: Vince and Layla have an affair. Layla is murdered in Central Park with no witnesses, and Vince is convicted by the media. He has told a few small lies to protect his perfect marriage image and ensure he isn’t accused of murder but he doesn’t know who to turn to or who he can trust.

This novel is written in the first person for all characters which isn’t a literary device I particularly enjoy as it can get confusing as the narration moves between the characters. I didn’t find the characters particularly likeable, especially Detective Allison Barnes. The storyline was well thought out and the murderer was a surprise, so although I didn’t enjoy the way the storyline was presented I did enjoy the premise of the novel.

This book was ok, it wasn't amazing but I didn't think it was awful. Overall very middle of the road and unrealistic book. I think it was a little too cliche a rich man has affair with intern. I also couldn't get over how anyone would get a job in this day and age, at a high tech digital company without any basic checks this was too far fetched so I struggled to get on board with the entire plot.

The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. This is something that Vince Taylor discovers the hard way in The Guilty Husband. Layla works as an intern at Vince’s company, and although it appears that Vince is happy with his life, Layla seems to offer him something more. Now she is dead. What’s a guy to do? This debut novel by Stephanie Decarolis will capture your attention from the very beginning and hold it to the very last page. There are so many twists and turns within, filling the story with excitement. Do you think you know what’s going on? Keep reading. You may be surprised. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book! Looking forward to more from this author.
