When I read the synopsis for the book I thought, how many variations of this plot could possibly be done? Workplace affair turns murder and the boss is the suspect? But, I was mistaken... which is why you should never judge a book by its cover. The twists and turns in this uniquely formatted story were marvelously done. I appreciated the insight of different primary character motive’s which kept the story bold and fresh while the presence of secondary characters added to the chaotic thrill needed to captivate an audience. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a contemporary murder mystery.

Vince and Nicole Taylor on the face of it lead a charmed life. Vince is the CEO of a tech company in New York and Nicole plays the dutiful wife.
Behind closed doors the couple are struggling to conceive and Vince starts an illicit affair with Layla, a sexy intern at his company.
When Layla’s body is found in Central Park and the police come knocking at Vince’s door he has to lie to try and stop his perfect life falling apart.
Told from the main characters points of view both before and after the murder of Layla it becomes clear that secrets can ruin you and no one can possibly know what goes on behind closed doors.
I found this book to be narrated in a good pace that has you telling yourself you will read “just one more chapter” before bed and waking up exhausted because one chapter ends up impossible to tear yourself away from the story.
Thank you to the publisher, author and NetGalley for gifting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A twisted read.
Vince Taylor, a CEO of a tech firm in New York City fell for Layla, a gorgeous young intern and their affair starts despite he doesn't want Layla seriously. He's happy with his wife Nicole who gave him her everything and now who's trying desperately for a baby. But one day police arrived at his company. They tell him that Layla was found murdered in Central park and now everyone's eye is on him but he swear he doesn't kill her.
Who killed her and why? Was Layla a good girl or was she hiding secrets of her own?
The story was really compelling despite of its simple plot. I loved the characters of Layla, Vince, Nicole, Allison and Mandy.
Narration of the story was awesome.
Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for giving me an advanced copy of this psychological thriller.

This was a great read- I was surprised to see it was a debut book by this author. Vince and Nicole seem to have the perfect marriage but we find out Vince was having an affair with Layla, an intern at his company, and Layla has now turned up dead.

This was one of those cool books where you know the main character has made some mistakes and he isn’t even super likeable, yet you still like him. The mystery in itself is sound, and I enjoy an unreliable narrator. There are also some chapters narrated by the detective, Allison, who is also flawed but likeable.

Overall, this was a fun read with a believable mystery that gives us some good twists. I was engaged throughout the entire story and was invested in what happened to these characters. I’d recommend this book for sure and am looking forward to other books by this author. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Vince is a successful businessman with his own company and all the associated trappings of wealth. He leads a charmed life with his beautiful wife, with their inability to conceive a child the only thorn in their perfect lives. But is it really so perfect? Vince has been sleeping with Layla, an intern at his company. And now Layla is dead. Who killed her, and why?

I felt quite sorry for Vince in this story which is impressive as he’s not a good man. I didn’t guess the killer until near the very end and there were plenty of twists and reveals along the way.

I felt there were a couple of unexplored avenues-namely Jeff and his relationship with the deceased, and Layla’s back story. While the latter was touched upon I think more could have been made of it which would have given her character more depth.

This book is well written and paced with a great storyline. I will look for more books by this author! Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and Stephanie DeCarolis for this advance review copy of The Guilty Husband.

This is a debut novel and having read more than my fair share of thrillers, I was really impressed!

The Guilty Husband tells the story of Vince Taylor - CEO of successful software company and social media giant KitzTech. Having built a successful business empire, he is happily married to yoga instructor Nicole and they are trying for a baby. His life appears perfect - except it's all about to come crashing down.

Vince has been having an affair with one of the KitzTech interns - a 23 year old woman named Layla. When Layla is found dead, presumed murdered just days after he had called it off their 'mistake' of a relationship- he knows it doesn't look good. He has a motive to kill her after all. When the detectives come knocking on his office door - he lies, claiming that he didn't know Layla well at all - hoping to hide the details of their affair from the world. After all; no one knew about their affair... or so he thought.

When the media get hold of the story, pages from Layla's diary start being shared with the tabloid press by an anonymous contact and Vince's perfect life starts to crumble around him. Detective Alison will stop at nothing to find out what really happened between Vince & Layla; digging up other secrets from Vince's past as she goes.

What really happened to Layla that night? Is Vince as innocent as he makes out? After all, he lied about where he was on the night of her murder - what else has he lied about?

The Guilty Husband is told through the perspectives of Vince and Detective Alison both Before and After the murder, giving you get a build up of the history between Layla and Vince and the events that occurred on the run up to present day.. You find yourself suspecting a number of the characters along the way, with the plot raising questions and lots of potential red herrings along the way.

The characters are relatable making this an easy read - my only constructive criticism was that the business idea for KitzTech has been done (and a long time ago) which made it a little less authentic and unique than it could have been. Otherwise a really enjoyable thriller which leaves you guessing and questioning till it's tidy conclusion.

Great story that kept me guessing until the end. I wasn’t sure who the guilty person would be and the twists kept it a secret until the end twist. Thank you for the opportunity to read this novel.

The Guilty Husband was such a great read! I was completely enthralled and couldn't put it down. Stephanie has done a terrific job with this story and making it stand out against others in this genre. Each character comes across so vividly and you feel as though you are right there with them. And what a great ending! I was on the edge of my seat until the last page and I couldn't turn the page fast enough. This is an author I would definitely read again!

This was a great book, focusing on a husband under suspicion for murder. He is an untrustworthy individual who had an affair in the past, and I couldn’t tear myself away from the rollercoaster of events.

I absolutely loved “The Guilty Husband!” I was hooked from the very first page, and couldn’t put it down until I’d read every last word. It’s the kind of book that you stay up way too late reading, even though you know you shouldn’t. It’s worth it.

The vivid descriptions of the settings made me feel as if I was there. The characters are intriguing and relatable; I became invested in all of them and loved watching their stories unfold. The back-and-forth perspective on a tight timeline created an intense cat-and-mouse effect that was enthralling.

Debut author Stephanie DeCarolis has proven that she can weave a gripping storyline with strong characters. She is definitely an author I will pick up again and again.

This book is intense. I found it to be a great suspense thriller that shows you money and power are not all it is cracked up to be. The story has a great plot and character development was well written. I’d definitely recommend.

Fast paced and edgy, a great thriller with twists and turns along the journey. A book that shows that money can’t buy you everything and that you shouldn’t trust anyone, especially not in love! I found the main characters fascinating and well developed and I couldn’t wait to see how the story unfurled, albeit with a couple of red herrings along the way. I was (slightly) disappointed that I guessed who the murderer was relatively early but it was a fantastic ride nonetheless. Recommend!

Vince Taylor is a good-looking wealthy CEO of KitzTech, a software company. He married Nicole, a beautiful yoga instructor. One day detectives, Allison Barnes and Jake Lanner show up at his office investigating the death of an intern, Layla Bosch.

Vince claims he didn't know Layla well and she had only been an intern for a short time. Evidence comes to light that Vince did know Layla and they did have an affair. Someone is giving away tips and things are posted in a tabloid called World View. Vince is looking worse everyday. Did he kill Layla or was it someone else? Is Layla the girl she claimed to be or was she hiding her past?

This was a really good book! I devoured it in a days time. I would recommend to those who enjoy a thriller that begins from the very first page until the ending.

Many thanks to NetGalley and HQ Digital for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
