Lone Wolf gives us three stories in one. Diana Palmer brings us Colorado Cowboy where we meet Esther after her mother's death at the hands of her current boyfriend. She meets a friendly trucking couple who pick her up as she steps on the road. Instead of being hit, the truck stops and ends up going with them to Benton, Colorado since she heard her mother speak of it. She chooses a cabin and collapses from exhaustion on Butch Matthews' front steps. Butch and his wolf Two-Toes find her outside and they both decide that if they were "engaged," the townspeople would leave them alone and their reputations would stay intact. Would this lead to love after all? Will her mother's murderer come after her?

Kate Pearce brings us The Wolf on her Doorstep where we meet Beth and Connor in Morgantown. Beth goes to check on Connor when he fails to pick up his weekly supplies and finds him burning up. Her son Mikey decides to go visit his father in prison prompting Beth and Connor to follow his trail. We learn that her ex-husband liked to hurt those around him physically. When they finally catch up with him, they find a very angry teenager. Will Beth and Connor be able to get through to him in time? Will life's complications get in their way?

Rebecca Zanetti brings us Rescue: Cowboy Style where we meet Hallie who ran off the road after getting lost then followed Harley the wolf to Trent Logan's front door. Turns out she has run out of options when the part needed for her car won't arrive for a week so she offers housekeeping services until she can get back on the road. Trent senses that Hallie is holding something back. Will Hallie trust Trent enough to share? Will it get in their way? What is Trent hiding and will that keep Hallie from fully trusting him?

All three authors brings us stories filled with a bit of mystery to keep us wanting to turn the page and throw in some love and there is a good story. It was nice visiting Benton and Morgantown. It was like visiting old friends again and catching up on what has been going on in their lives since the last time we visited. I look forward to going back again soon. After meeting Hallie and Trent, Rebecca Zanetti makes me want to see what happens to the other brothers we met in their story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for this privilege.

Cagey. Elusive. Wary. Characteristics of a wolf, a maginifcent animal. Much like the men depicted in the three stories in this compilation. From wounded warrior to a knight in shining armor, they offer assistance to the women, but are watchful. I liked the theme that ties all three authors’ stories together. They offer a nice escape from harsh reality where you can’t arrange things the way you want. That’s why fiction has been my saving grace for so long. Most of the time there is a happy ending, like in these stories.

This was a very hard book for me to rate. I loved two of the stories so much but I really disliked the other one.

First this is a cowboy anthology and other thank that they each story has a wolf in it.
Colorado Cowboy
This is a very quick story. This was the first Diana Palmer story I have read and it will be the last. I almost stopped reading the whole book because of this story. I really disliked the heroine. I am not sure what time period this took place in but she was week and couldn’t do anything for herself. And the hero wasn’t much better. Sorry not my cup of tea.

The Wolf On Her Doorstep
I enjoyed this story more. It is about a single mom of older teenage boys and a very grumpy ex Seal. All of the characters are very likable. I understood there conflict and enjoyed watching it play.

Rescue: Cowboy Style
I enjoyed this story the most. I love Rebecca Zanetti. I do hope that this becomes an ongoing series. I would love to learn more about this weird family and their past. There is some suspense. I would really love to get a more in-depth looked into this small town.

This anthology of novellas is a great introduction to readers that are new to these authors, and fun to read for those long time fans.
All the stories center around injured, old and/or domesticated wolves, damsels in distress and the imperfect heroes that come to their rescue. Not realizing that these women also end up rescuing them.
These are two I have read.

COLORADO COWBOY- Diana Palmer
This story was a classic Diana Palmer . The usual format of innocent young woman in danger and the brooding man that comes to the rescue. In this case Butch Matthews is the loner and Esther Marist is the young woman. A young rich girl who has witnessed the murder of her mother by her gigolo boyfriend . Escaping her home in search of her grandfather and not knowing who to trust, she shows up at Butch’s home.

THE WOLF ON HER DOORSTEP-Kate Pearce
I am a huge fan of this author and loved not only being back in Morgantown, but also that the author gave us more mature characters.
Beth Baker is a single mom of two young adult boys. Boys whose father is her ex. Though the older one, Wes, is not her biological son, she adopted him when his mother was killed. Beth keeps busy with two jobs, one taking care of the cabins of one of the local ranch.
Connor O’Neil , a former Navy SEAL, is renting one of these cabins. He is a drifter, and a loner suffering from PTSD. When he becomes ill, his rescued wolf goes in search of help . Neither Beth or Connor expected that from that point on, their lives would change forever.
In addition to the main story, the author also reminds us that the experiences we have as children and adults, will mold us forever. We have to learn from them as we move forward in life.
Next on my TBR is by author new to me, Rebecca Zanetti.
I was entrusted a copy of this book Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I seriously had a hard time putting this down! Each story is unique, engaging and thoroughly entertaining! I have to say Rebecca Zanetti’s was my favorite though, and I really hope it turns into a series!

Three authors, three men, their wolves, and the women who come in to their lives. I loved all three stories. The first story, Colorado Cowboy by Diana Palmer, paired Matthews, a wounded warrior whose fiancée dropped him when he returns missing one arm. When Esther shows up almost frozen in the snow, Matthews takes her in providing a safe place, surprisingly with an old wolf. Esther spent her life in her mother’s shadow, totally dependent. Theirs is an odd pairing, the beautiful young innocent woman and the older man who doesn’t think a woman would ever want him. Matthews was funny as he worried about what townspeople would think about them living under the same roof.

The Wolf on Her Doorstep by Kate Pearce paired Beth, a divorced mother with two teenage sons, and Conner, a veteran vagabond who never stays in one place for long. He is a loner planning to stay in a ranch cabin for six months and then move on. But when his pet wolf shows up the ranch house alone, Beth takes the wolf back to the cabin to find Conner feverish from a cut that became infected. Soon she is playing nursemaid and fighting him all the way. There were so many levels to this story, there was a lot packed into a short story, but it was all wonderful.

Rescue: Cowboy Style by Rebecca Zanetti takes place on a ranch in Wyoming. When Hallie shows up in a huge storm at the lodge where a party is going on, Trent immediately zeros in on her, first as a quick hook up, but when he realizes this city girl is distressed his protective side takes over. Seems Hallie is running from something or someone, got lost and crashed her car. She lies about where she was heading and why, even her name (Smith? Really?) but so poorly that everyone knows she is lying. Trent seems to claim her and soon she is surrounded by big, rugged cowboys who all seem very interested in Trent’s focus on Hallie. Oh, and there is a wolf who also seems taken with Hallie, leading her to the lodge in the storm, following her everywhere, even jumping in the truck and following her home.

Hallie is a riot, she keeps spouting lies that everyone sees through, and she is so cute and sweet that Trent can’t resist her, even as she lies to him. There are twelve amazing men who formed ties that created a brotherhood, and together they bought the ranch, forming a co-op. Each one is so different from the other, but they all work together as a team. I liked the banter between Hallie and Trent, and between the men. And I really enjoyed the ongoing problem with the suspension arms on her car.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Kensington Books and this is my honest review.

Colorado Cowboy
This is a very quick story. This story has Diana Palmer’s trademark cowboy and innocent young woman in it. I enjoyed it a lot.

The Wolf On Her Doorstep
I enjoyed this story of a single mom of teenage boys and a grumpy cowboy. A bit of angst in this story.

Rescue: Cowboy Style
I enjoyed this story the most. It’s a little longer than the other two so it had more character development. There’s mystery and suspense. I really enjoyed the writing of this story.

I have loved Diana Palmer for years and I just don't think you can beat her short stories. She tends to repeat herself so much in a full length novel, so it's nice not reading the same basic sentences over and over again. Thankful to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this title to read and review.

3.5 stars

**The overall rating is the average of the following ratings.**

Colorado Cowboy by Diana Palmer:
3 stars - I liked it

Fleeing from her mother’s killer, Esther Marist ends up in the middle of nowhere with a hot wildlife rehabilitator. As days pass in her new life, she falls more for her rescuer but she knows that the killer won’t give up.

This was a sweet romance. Butch and Esther have a very sweet and slow building relationship. Butch is a veteran amputee who now dedicates his life to helping wounded wildlife get better. I loved that he was an alpha male who was also very sweet and compassionate. I did think it was odd that he wasn’t a part of the conversations with lawyers though because he was extremely devoted and protective of Esther, yet didn’t appear to want to be on top of the situation with her mother’s killer. Also, some of the conversations between these two felt a little repetitive.

Esther was a very innocent woman who has spent her life hiding in her mothers shadow. She was a very sweet and caring woman. While she is from money, she isn’t a snob or anything like that. She was actually pretty determined to start a new life working and actually living. I didn’t like that she refused to tell Butch the whole truth about her mother’s situation. Her reasoning's why were kind of stupid in my opinion.

Overall, this was a sweet and hopeful romance. I enjoyed their relationship, even with the issues, and loved that they found their happy ending.

The Wolf on Her Doorstep by Kate Pearce:
3 stars - I liked it

Trigger Warning: references to domestic violence, PTSD

When the grumpy summer tenants wolf shows up at the door, she knows that something must be wrong. Conner O’Neil doesn’t want any help even as he struggles with his injury. But Beth is stubborn and insists on helping him get better.

This was an enjoyable grumpy/sunshine story. Beth was a strong woman who has raised two kids by herself. I loved that she adopted her son’s half brother so he wouldn’t have to be in the system. She was just a great mother who understood the need for therapy and space sometimes, even during times when she wanted to keep her sons close.

I liked Conner. He was a grumpy man who hasn’t settled down since leaving the military. He was protective of Beth and great with her sons. I love a hero who has a sweet side under all the grumpiness. This was just a great story about finding love and a family.

Rescue: Cowboy Style by Rebecca Zanetti:
4 stars - It was really good

TW: torture (referenced), PTSD, death of a spouse (referenced)

Trent Logan knows when someone is in trouble. So when a rain soaked woman comes into the Cattle Club to escape a Wyoming storm he knows she needs help and he has to find a way to keep her there.

This was a very good story. Trent was an alpha male who expects his word to be obeyed. He is a former Navy SEAL who has lived through a lot of pain. He only survived with the help of his brothers and now all of them are building a safe haven in Wyoming. I really loved Trent and his brothers. They were so supportive of each other and had each other's backs. Also they were all protective alpha males, which I like.

Hallie uncovered a dangerous secret and is on the run. She doesn’t expect to find help from a bunch of cowboys but reluctantly accepts it. Hallie and Trent have an instant attraction that quickly develops into more. She was a sweet and sassy woman who wasn’t afraid to stand up to Trent or his brothers. I liked Hallie and Trent and their quick relationship.

I really hope Zanetti decides to write more books featuring the other brothers because I really want to see them all find love and happiness.

In this exciting anthology written by three veteran romance authors, love is a surprise that arises out of tragedy. With each others quintessential style, each short story introduces readers to strong characters who overcome impressive odds to find their happy ending. Well-written and worth reading, "Lone Wolf" is an exceptional read.

Each book within this book are so different and my ratings vary accordingly. I am rating this overall series on the fact that Rebecca Zanetti's book titled "Rescue: Cowboy Style" was so well written that it would be an injustices to rate it anything other then a 5 star.

Colorado Cowboy by Diana Palmer 1 Star

Pampered rich girl Esther Marist witnessed her mother being pushed down the stairs and being killed by her boyfriend. She then fears for her life and takes off into the cold. She ends up on the door step of, Butch Matthews, an ex-army amputee who is now a wildlife rehabilitator in a round about way.

This book is basically simplistic in an juvenile unrealistic way. I couldn't get past Esther being more worried about finding a job to pay rent to a man she doesn't know over bringing her mothers killer to justice and protecting her own life in the process. I found this book very hard to finish. Which for me is unusual because I love Diana Palmer's books.

The Wolf On Her Doorstep by Kate Pearce 4 Stars

Single mom Beth Baker has a lot going on in her life between raising two teenage boys, one who is biologically hers and one form a husband with a wondering eye, she's also holding down two jobs. One of her jobs is working on a ranch where way back in the corner lives Connor O’Neill, an ex-Navy SEAL with PTSD, who is renting a cabin for a short time. Connor fails to come into town to pick up his weekly groceries which sends Beth off to bring them to him and their story begins.

This was a very well written story based around domestic abuse and its effects on all its victims. Connor and Beth became a strong couple throughout this book and I really enjoyed reading their story. Kate Pearce is a new author to me and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Rescue: Cowboy Style by Rebecca Zanetti 5 Stars

As a fan of Rebecca Zanetti's books I really enjoyed reading this new world she has begun writing about. She has introduces us to a group of 12 ex-military alpha, cowboy, mercenaries that I so want to read more about. This book featured Trent Logan whos is busy running his ranch and likes his life the way it is. Until he finds a soaking wet secrets keeping Hallie on his doorstep during a storm. Now his mission is to figure her out while showing her his alpha protective ways.

I enjoyed reading this book. All three stories were interesting and a quick read. I always enjoy Diana Palmer’s stories. I think I have other books by Kate Pearce but not Rebecca Zanetti.

Rebecca Zanetti’s book had an interesting story with the group of people involved. It was different and I enjoyed reading it.

My ratings for the three stories in this anthology vary greatly. I settled on 5 stars overall based on the perspective that the strongest story made this entire volume worthwhile. My reviews are given in the reverse order of how the stories appear:

Rescue: Cowboy Style by Rebecca Zanetti (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

Hallie lands on Trent’s doorstep during a wet and stormy night, obviously scared and desperate, but keeping her secrets close. Trent Logan may be busy with fences and cattle but he wants nothing more than to make the time to figure Hallie out and keep her safe. Trent and his band of brothers are cowboys that you would definitely want to have on your side!

Rebecca Zanetti artfully creates a cute, sweet and sassy heroine and pairs her with an irresistibly hot alpha protective cowboy who speaks more than a dozen languages. It’s amazing how she squeeze such exhilarating suspense, intense attraction, and heartwarming camaraderie into one novella. I really felt the connection between Trent and Hallie! And, I vote that each of Trent’s cowboy brothers (there are twelve of them all together) get their own stories!

The Wolf On Her Doorstep by Kate Pearce (⭐️⭐️⭐️)

Single mom Beth Baker has a lot on her plate, juggling two jobs, two teenaged boys, and one grumpy long term tenant. Connor O’Neill is an ex-Navy SEAL who is renting a cabin on the remotest corner of the ranch where Beth works. When he fails to come into town to pick up his weekly groceries, Beth makes an obligatory reconnaissance trip that turns interesting.

This lovely novella highlighted themes of respect, gratitude, autonomy and self-determination that typifies any household struggling with new adults. Connor makes a dashing witness and backdrop to Beth’s minor drama at home.

Colorado Cowboy by Diana Palmer (⭐️)

Pampered rich girl Esther Marist witnessed her mother’s murder and flees into the cold to escape the murderer. A hitchhike and a stumble later, she is on the doorstep of Butch Matthews, an ex-army amputee, now wildlife rehabilitator, who takes her in and shelters her.

I hope you are in the mood for soap opera cliché because a lot of juvenile reasoning is deployed as plot points for this story. First, there’s the “can’t go to the police, they won’t believe me”. Then there’s “everything will eventually work out without me having to do anything about it”. But the worst is “I can’t tell my boyfriend/fiancé/husband how rich I am because it will hurt his manly pride”. The whole premise felt very dated and very recycled.

In addition, the writing style wavered from over repetitive on some points (we are told many times that Esther’s housekeeper was her maternal surrogate) while other character names are dropped without any introduction (who are the Dentons?) I’m sorry, I couldn’t find any merit in this.

(My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this ARC.)

ARC Review -

Having a wolf involved in each story was a unique way to link these anthologies. I absolutely loved Rebecca Zanetti's story. The main characters had great chemistry and I definitely laughed several times in the story. I thought having Trent's 'brothers' included in this story added a lot and set it up nicely for her to do a full series. Fingers crossed!

Kate Pearce's story was fun to read. These characters also had great chemistry. I liked that they were both more mature characters and had more life experience. It added more depth to the story, especially Beth's relationship with her sons.

Diana Palmer's hero rehabilitates wild animals and the heroine shows up on his doorstep after fleeing her mother's murder. Butch wants to take care of her and help her get back on her feet after this traumatic experience. I prefer my heroines to be a little more spunky than Esther was.

Overall I enjoyed this book. It is a great way to get an idea of each author's writing styles. I sometimes struggle with novellas and anthologies because the characters have to pretty much fall in love in the first two or three chapters as the stories are so quick.

Animal wolfs and males who are wounded warriors and lone wolfs feature in these anthology (Kensington Books) by authors Diana Palmer, Kate Pearce and Rebecca Zanetti.
The plotline in “Colorado Cowboy” (Diana Palmer) is a bit simplistic, but Butch, the protective hero with a sense of humor about his injury and not much hindered by it, make for a nice, uncomplicated read.
Esther is the, often typical in Palmer, innocent and younger heroine; sometimes, the tone is a bit moralizing and I missed the fact Two Toes, the wolf, doesn’t appear that much.
Kate Pearce’s “The Wolf on her Doorstep” features an interesting older couple. I always like a grumpy hero and Conner excels in that aspect. His wolf, Loki, is good for a loner like him.
I liked how Conner and Beth are so good together and the consistent, serious manner the author addressed domestic abuse and its effects on victims. Beth’s sons are interesting and complex characters, too.
“Rescue: Cowboy Style” (Rebecca Zanetti) presents what seems to be a very promising brotherhood of dangerous, lethal cowboys/mercenaries.
Possessive yet very tender Trent knows instantly that Hallie is the one . Harley, the wolf, also falls for the heroine.
The snuggling and kissing contrast with the danger and power of these fascinating men of mystery. Looking forward for the next stories in what will hopefully be a series.

Review for Rescue: Cowboy Style by Rebecca Zanetti:

Immediately downloading Lone Wolf, I turned to Rebecca Zanetti's story in the Anthology, Rescue Cowboy Style. Reading this story had me all sorts of excited and eager for a new series. I loved our sexy cowboy hero, Trent and I could really relate to the heroine since she is allllll city girl. This story had so much to love: An irresistible plot and a hero and heroine that had major chemistry with lots of humor and good banter.

These cowboys that were introduced in this story had me intrigued and fascinated and made my heart gallop in excitement. This story had my blood sizzling and had my knees weak and gave me such happiness. I loved how this story came together. It was fast paced, sexy as ever, and was a generally delightful read. I finished this waaaay too fast and am already eager and dying for another one. I haven't read the other two stories yet, but I am definitely going back right now and reading them!

Rescue Cowboy Style gets a SWOON WORTHY FIVE RED HOT STARS!

This anthology has three novellas, all featuring a cowboy, a wolf and a heroine in need of rescuing. The authors have very different writing styles, so I’d imagine most readers will have a clear favourite. For me, the Rebecca Zanetti book really stood as being the best, by a long way. There is so much potential for a series here, with some wonderfully interesting characters that make you care about them from the first page. I would love to read more about the members of this cowboy club!
