This book club kit was a little disappointing. I really enjoyed how they included the page of interesting facts. But other than that there was nothing special, give me a recipe from the time or a game that could have been played! The only other redeeming quality was how cute the slides to the kit were otherwise this wasn’t anything I couldn’t have googled.

Book Club Kit for The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Get ready for electrifying, non-stop dialogue at your next book club event when analyzing F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Roaring 20s American classic, “The Great Gatsby,” with its new Book Club Kit readily at hand. Facilitators urge members to use sharp discernment of the characters, scenes, and dialogue when reading this seminal novel in preparation for discussion because this Kit offers fascinating, and perhaps controversial, discussion questions delving into the sexual preferences of Nick and Jay, as well as Jay’s racial heritage, to name a few. It’s also replete with historical facts, literary analysis, and thought-provoking insights into this landmark novel.

Thanks so much to the publisher and to NetGalley for giving me access to this book. Our library choose The great Gatsby for our town community read. It was helpful to refer to this kit while going through the book.

This is such a fun, engaging book club kit! I love reading interviews with authors, and hearing about what inspired them to write their novel. The included discussion questions are perfect for encouraging deeper exploration of the book's characters and themes, the kit is easily printable/accessible and I loved how Netgalley began including on their sites. Will definitely use in the near future with my very own book club.

If I have to express this in three words: I LOVED it! This kit has all the factors needed to make the Gatsby reading experience a wonderful one!

I would absolutely use this kit for a book club reading of The Great Gatsby. While there is controversy (when isn't there?) surrounding this classic, it's one of my all-time favorites. I truly think some of the interesting facts and even some of the questions, if posed AHEAD of time may entice readers to choose it for their book club to begin with. I rarely do re-reads of books because there are so many amazing authors and worlds to explore but I am contemplating picking Gatsby back up and reading it through again while utilizing the questions to see the scenes in a new light.

This was my second book club kit and it was a THOUSAND times more mature and applicable to its audience, I thoroughly appreciated that there was a lot of little-known knowledge and some uniquely fascinating plot points I would never have thought to examine closer.

10/10 would recommend!
LGBTQ+ positive and inclusive, poses questions on the morality of characters, theories on Gatsby and race, and questions of contemporary views of this American classic.

This is a fantastic resource for the classroom. I really appreciated the fact that it integrated historiography and modern literary criticism into its discussion questions. These questions are great for when you want class discussions to go beyond plot regurgitation and instead focus on higher-order thinking.

Great photo to begin the book club kit. I understand why they chose this typeface but with it being margin corrected, it does not make it easy to read on my device.

The book club kit immediately begins with the discussion questions. They do a great job setting up the scene with the year identified, historical background and relevance. Instead of beginning on a plot point, I like that they ask why it became a literary classic. It makes the reader think in a bigger picture. They also make comparisons to the text and the author's own life. I hadn't read the 1979 or 2000 articles prior, but it gives a viewpoint for a gay and/or black perspective for nick that I hadn't considered. This will provide for lots of great discussion because it could be new to others as well.

The questions cover lots of ground proving that there is something for everyone in this novel. For example, romance, American dream, extravagance, relevancy, and power. Because this is a modern day classic, I love that the included praise from well known individuals throughout the decades. I also appreciate the fascinating facts because most will not know them. Might be fun to have a trivia night to the book club.

Thanks for a good book club kit but I think high school classroom teachers would also appreciate this!

A classic that never gets old! Use this book guide to help lead your discussions around one of our favorite party people - Jay Gatsby. I will always love F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing style.

A collection of very useful questions and talking points for a bookclub discussion of The Great Gatsby. It's a great idea for libraries to have something like this for popular books.

The Great Gatsby is a classic, and in my opinion, Fitzgerald's greatest work. This book club kit includes discussion questions, quotes of love from various authors throughout the years, and facts surrounding the writing and publishing of the novel. A must for any book club!

Three stars, which means I liked it. The Great Gatsby was one of my favorite reads in my HS AP English class. "There is no doubt that The Great Gatsby has remained so popular because of its importance in high school classroom and curriculums." <~~True story!

Book Club Kit: The Great Gatsby has multiple purposes: it is a great tool to enhance understanding of the book while reading The Great Gatsby (discussion questions), it can serve as a refresher for those who have read it in the past, or it can provide a nostalgic experience.

My favorite section of the Book Club Kit was the fascinating facts. If you have been wanting to read The Great Gatsby, loved the Great Gatsby, or even if you disliked Gatsby, there is a takeaway for you.

The Great Gatsby is my favorite classic and I was curious to see what questions and other information would be included in this Book Club Kit. I was intrigued by it and I think that it would be great to use as a resource! I wish my book club would read this, and if we ever do, I will recommend this.

While most are familiar with the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel through required reading or recent movie adaptations, this kit is a nice addition for book club use.

The is a minimal book club kit some of which could be used in the classroom. There are discussion questions which I think can be modified into essay topics. Also included are quotes about the book which I don't think would interest students very much. Finally, there are some fascinating facts which I think might interest some students. All in all, this was just okay. I had hoped for more.

Growing up, I heard everyone rave about this book and how it was just fantastic and before reading it, the only thing I knew about the book was that the man's name was Jay Gatsby. He was rich and lived lavishly and had wild parties and he had a fear of swimming.

The things I did not know was that this is from the POV of his neighbor who doesn't really have a friendship with Gatsby but his standoffish to him either. Gatsby's past is being questioned and the people that come to his parties talk about him and make up rumors and spread them. We learn that he is still head over heels in love with a woman from 5 years ago. He is stuck on her and he tries to be nice to everyone he meets.

He has horrible anxiety issues and he doubts everything.. even himself when it comes to his relationship with Daisy. The thing that was never addressed was the fact that he was scared of swimming. Not once did it say he was scared of the water, just that he would never go in and would look at it with trepidation. But near the end, he tells his butler that he is going swimming.

I love these Book Club Kits, I wish they were available with every book! I know The Great Gatsby is a classic, but I was never a big fan. I didn't particularly enjoy reading it as required reading in high school or when I tried again as an adult. The discussion questions brought up some great points, and now I'm considering rereading it for a 3rd time.

The discussion questions were great, and I can see how some could spark long conversations with book clubs. I wish my local book club was still meeting regularly. One question in particular that stuck with me was, "Do you believe it's possible to separate your reading experience from what you know about the life of the author?" I think this one is coming up a lot in discussions right now, and many people are talking about controversial authors. Is it possible to separate the work from the artist/author?
