Thank you for this book club guide. We also received a guide with questions from our local library where we were able to pick up the book club kit with multiple copies. We appreciated this additional material but it wasn’t necessary.- thanks.

The Midnight Library Book Club Kit is great. The discussion questions are thoughtful and helped me connect my own experiences to the book. I thought more critically about the book and how I reacted to it as a result of the questions. I also really enjoyed the deeper exploration of the book and Matt Haig’s perspective in the author Q&A. Learning more about what influenced the themes and plot was interesting!

Thank you to Net Galley and Penguin Random House Library for the opportunity to read and review.

The questions in this book club kit are good and help promote the right focus of the idea that the book talks about. This kit helped to enrich our conversations on this book and get to the depths of the conversation we do not usually get. It was nice to get a guide for our book club.

The Midnight Library is an read - The book was very different that my normal ROM-COMS and very thought provoking. I finished it 2 days ago, and have still been talking/thinking about it. It contains many twists, makes you consider how life could have turned out if any of life's other paths had have been taken.... This is not the book itself, but a book club kit, to give ideas/discussion points, so great for leading groups/questions around the book, my group read the book for November and utilized the kit for questions.

It was a good, fast read, but I was expecting a little more from how it ends. The repetitive narration made it a tad boring in the middle but the author catches up very well.
Not everyone gets a 2nd chance in life, time to think over their choices. We are after all leading a life which is a consequence of our choices.

t’s definitely worth reading because it tackles life, death, and regrets. Reading this makes me look back at my life and contemplate. We know that death is inevitable. We will never ready or prepared for it. So, live your life the way you want it to be. In a way that you will not regret it and you’re not stepping someone’s foot. Always remember, second chances is rare, regrets are awful.

This book just wasn't for me. Reading it felt like I was watching a Hallmark movie. It was just so full of cringe lines and it made me roll my eyes so much.

The book itself is a brilliant read - something very different and very thought provoking indeed. With many twists and turns. How life could have turned out if any of life's other paths had have been taken.... This is not the book itself, but a book club kit, to give ideas/discussion points, so great for leading groups/questions around the book. Recommended!

I absolutely loved this book and found it incredibly thought provoking ... the idea that there are infinite lives we could follow, each giving us a different journey and different outcome. How do we ever know which is the best to follow? We make choices and those choices determine how our life pans out. Our journey is never straight ahead: there are twists and turns at every step we take.

I requested the Midnight Library Book Club Kit because I thought the Matt Haig book would be the perfect book club choice. In the spring my book club puts together our reading list for the following summer and fall. Having looked at this book club kit, I can see that I have made the right choice to recommend Matt Haig's The Midnight Library. I discovered that this book club kit offers some nice discussion points for my book club./

I read The Midnight Library in 2020 and in preparation for reviewing this Book Club Kit, re-read parts of it to refresh my memory. It's a great book!

The kit includes:
1. A series of 8 comprehensive questions, encouraging discussion and prompting readers to find connections between the book and their own experience.
2. The transcript of a brief interview with author Matt Haig, in which he discusses his influences and inspiration for writing the novel, how his personal experience of anxiety and depression informed his writing and the differences in writing fiction vs. non-fiction.
3. A list of other titles by Matt Haig.

I felt that the questions were well-conceived and would stimulate lively discussion in a book group context, or alternatively prompt thoughtful reflection by an individual reader accessing this kit. Similarly, I found the interview with the author interesting and relevant. I was particularly taken with Haig's thoughts on integrating his skills in writing non-fiction into writing a fictional novel: "[S]ometimes fiction allows you to ... use fantasy as a way of exploring ideas and experiences."
I'd happily recommend this Kit for use by any Book Group looking to stimulate discussion, or for any individual reader who wishes to reflect more deeply on their experience of reading The Midnight Library.
My thanks to the author, Matt Haig, publisher Penguin Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to consider and review this Book Club Kit.

Matt Haig has been a staple on my shelf for along time but I was hesitant to pick this one up based on a few close friends reviews- but I am so glad I finally got to it. It is a slow, methodical, and beautiful story about life that will stick with me forever.

My book club read The Midnight Library and were excited to discuss it. This book club kit helped us to put form around our discussion and helped us to hit all the points. I loved the questions. One in particular gave insight into why the author wrote the book and his personal history with depression and suicidal thoughts and one of my friends in book club said, “Well now I love the book even more!” As much as we enjoyed the book this kit gave it another layer of depth and helped to frame our discussion rather than simply, “I liked the book,” etc. I would recommend this kit to any book club but also a reader looking for more after reading the book.
