This book was powerful with the message it was sending. The fact that you may have a lot of regrets in life, but sometimes your life is better off not going down certain paths. It spoke about suicide and depression in a way that can be understood, but not shameful. I recommend everyone to read this book.

Great book club kit to use for The Midnight Library. The questions were thought provoking and would make interesting conversation starters. All book clubs who choose The Midnight Library need this kit to help engage all readers for deeper meaning of the novel. Excellent addition.

I think these questions are a great resource to have while being a part of a book club. It makes you think about the deeper meaning behind the books you are actively reading, and are a great guideline to help you visualize a different perspective. I have heard wonderful things about The Midnight Library, and it seems as if this novel is one that would benefit from questions to help one think of the deeper meaning behind the words written.

I did this book with a book club. The questions were nice to have and the author interview was really well done and would be great to read out for the group to find out.

But the writing itself was in yellow and it was impossible to see until I changed the back ground color. And I wasn't sure the point of the pictures for two pages.

All in all, it would be helpful for a book club.

The book club kit for The Midnight Library by Matt Haig includes questions to lend to a deeper discussion of the book. Two interviews with the author are included. The interview transcript gives us a much deeper understanding of why the author chose to write the book and how she went about researching and writing it - as well as more points for discussion. A perfect accompaniment for any book group that is reading The Midnight Library

The Midnight Library is one of those books that really makes you think. It deals with big issues that can lead to big questions and big discussions. Thsi book club kit is perfect to help narrow in on that discussion with your group and give you a guideline to dig beneath the surface. I think it would be helpful for anyone who reads the book...not just those involved with a book club.

Book Club Kit: The Midnight Library is one of a new series of supporting brochures and materials available for top end fiction and nonfiction titles from Penguin Random House Librarian Resources. Released 11th Feb 2021 by Penguin Random House, this entry is filled with interesting background history to enhance the personal or book-club reading experience for Matt Haig's powerful and engaging book from 2020. This brochure is 5 pages long and includes discussion questions and a short Q&A interview with the author.

I enjoy the extra resources and enhancements the larger publishing houses are able to employ to support their publications. I also appreciate that most library systems can provide quite a lot of extra support and guidance to their patrons and groups. These materials would be appropriate for online/remote discussion groups, formal education (literature, modern fiction, and allied subjects), and for enhancing my personal reading enjoyment.

Five stars. Compact, succinct, beautiful typesetting and graphics. It does -not- include the original book, just the discussion and support materials. Available free from the publisher's website.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

My book club picked this book for the month of February because of all the mixed reviews. Most of us really loved the writing style, the short chapters, the fantasy meets mental health.

A few people weren’t happy with how depression and suicide were portrayed in this story, and we understood where they were coming from as well.

This was a great kit idea to ask appropriate questions and lead a great discussion.

This Book Club Kit from Penguin Random House Literary Resources for Matt Haig’s ‘The Midnight Library’ is a fantastic idea.

Inside the attractively presented covers are 8 questions to stimulate discussion and an interview with Matt Haig.

‘The Midnight Library’, which I read last summer, is exactly the kind of novel that is perfect for book clubs/reading groups in that it a highly engaging novel with plenty of material for discussion.

I would be interested to know how this short booklet will be distributed, especially as I am hoping to suggest it to my own reading group in the near future.

This was a collection of book club discussion questions for The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, this was a thorough and comprehensive collection of discussion questions that takes a look at the various responses people have to this book and encourages everyone to take a look and reflect on what their library would be!

The Midnight Library was a magical place full of possibility in between life and death. And this book kit aims to enhance that magic through quality reflective questions and an interview with the author.

Eight thought provoking questions are included in this kit. I found the self reflective nature of the questions enriched the story and allowed me to synthesize the story in a way that made it very personal. The questions also do a great job of highlighting the primary themes of the novel. These questions lend well to a hearty discussion. And while the primary purpose of these questions is for a book club, they also would be excellent as journal prompts for self contemplation.

The author interview portion gives insight into Matt Haig’s inspiration and hopes for The Midnight Library. His perspective on this book gave me a greater appreciation for the novel itself. He is also very open about his own mental health and how it allowed him to create this fantastical library.

This guide is a great companion to The Midnight Library and will serve book clubs well! It’s exactly what I’d want as a resource to lead a book club. And I enjoyed using it to enhance my enjoyment of the book.
