This kit is awesome to have! Totally beats the traditional idea of book clubs.
I saw the kit when I started to follow the author and I was intrigued. Not alot of books have a book club kit.
I am a huge history buff that the history behind the book is a wonder read to have as I see that the author had so much research to use from and made it fun. Including the activities attached to the kit was fun to use while reading and during the discussion.
So instead of having the regular discussion with your group with a glass a wine (or in my case a cup of tea) you have the resources to make it to a real event or party.

This novel was rough for me. I kept thinking it was going to get better because I was slightly intrigued by this era idea but the ending was not worth it. I was so unsatisfied at the end and uncomfortable with her cousins husbands time travel rape situation. It was a lot in all the worst ways. I think the book club kit was quite basic questions but I liked that it was a blend of comprehension and thought based questions. I did also think the Spotify playlist was a fun unique touch.

I enjoyed this book felt like the plot moved along at a great pace. I was on the edge of my seat and could not put it down.

This was really fun to have after I was done with the book, definitely recommend!! In fact, I think having this on ‘standby’ after I was finished reading Mexican Gothic made me love the book even more!

I am starting to become a big fan of Silvia Moreno-Garcia's writing, this book caught my attention for just reading the first chapter and I couldn't put it down until I was done.

Really good and unique book club kit, with good questions, a playlist, a letter from the author. I recommend it.

This is such an intriguing plot, but could have been executed better. The first 100 or so pages were extremely slow. The plot does pick up and become more intriguing. There was a lot of repetition. I loved the characters mystery at first — but if felt like it never fully developed.

It might be a fun quick read around October.

Everyone talked so highly of this book and it was my book of the month I was so excited but In all honesty it was a pretty big let down. I think perhaps this read just wasn’t for me. The premise was wonderful so I dived right in but as I did I was super disappointed. Noemi is living the good life and living off daddy’s money in Mexico City. That big favor her dad asks her to do she can’t do and she comes off as if she’s stuck but why can’t she just leave? Her wandering around the house aimlessly dragged on way too long and was so boring. I Waited for the nightmares to become good and creepy but it was just a let down.

I had just watched Crimson Peak when I read this book, very similar vibes, in the best way possible! I absolutely love this gothic horror historical fiction. And the twist is simply *chef's kiss*! The writing is gorgeous and extremely immersive. I cannot wait for those to become a show, I just hope they do this fanatic novel justice!

I really loved the questions for book club. I was nervous that it was going to be your typical questions but they were very different and thought provoking. I deff recommend this if you have a monthly book club.

This is a wonderful idea to put up info about the book and its essential factors of plot, theme, idea, inspiration, etc. To help understand the structure better including the print cutouts was creative. Loved to know the author's insights related to the location, culture, and tradition that are encrypted in the novel.
