I coordinate multiple book clubs and I love when books have kits or even discussion questions and/or reading guides. Yes, as readers we can come up with our own questions, but these kinds of documents can provide additional inspiration.

This provides an interesting overview from book club. I’ve heard nothing but praise for this book so can be assured I will not be disappointed.

A very clever, smart and personable lady and superb ambassador for the US. A definite must-read and will make a good comparison to Kamala Harris’ biography.

The perfect bookclub kit for any group looking to delve in deeper to Michelle Obama's book "Becoming." The discussion questions are thorough and the readers guide insightful. I have no doubt that this would bring more to any group discussion.

I read this book in the end of 2020 and these question are a good resource for who read the book in a bookclub. The questions lead to great discussions and because there ares so many questions we could have many topics for discussions.
The interview with Michelle Obama is the icing on the cake.

I absolutely loved this book when I read it and have been intrigued by Michelle Obama ever since. The questions look really interesting and I look forward to rereading it with them in mind. I think they will enhance the reading and my enjoyment even more. I expect this would be a great addition to any reading group's experience and might even encourage more people to read this book.

The Book Club Kit for Becoming by Michelle Obama is an excellent companion to her autobiography. There are so many possible topics of discussion, and this kit provides 30 questions that will spur some great discussions. It also includes a Q&A with Michelle Obama, some of which focus on her writing process and some of which focus on decision points in her life. Great resource!

This is a worthy project which cleverly sifts through the huge amount of information in Becoming to find questions that not only link to Michelle Obama's reflections. but very possibly to readers own lives.

However, I do have to admit to having some concerns about some features of the work. A little more attention to detail could have dealt with these.

Most glaringly, I was disappointed in the inconsistency in referring to Michelle Obama, her family and friends. Several of the questions refer to Mrs Obama, then there is one in which her given name is used, then a return to using her title. Perhaps, if the writers wanted to make the point that Michelle Obama is a married woman they could have referred to her firstly as Mrs, then explained that after that her title would be omitted and her given name used. Michelle Obama's mother is firstly referred to as Mrs Robinson, then later is referred to as Marian Robinson.. Michelle Obama's brother is referred to only as Craig. Her mentors are referred to without titles.

I would also have liked to see more about the wide range of influences in Michelle Obama's life - the writers refer to 'the constellation of Mrs Obama's extended family'. But the question refers only to her grandfather. Her piano lessons were quite a feature, but her teacher 'Robbie' is not mentioned. She was a colourful character who certainly had an impact on the way Michelle Obama saw herself and the way she learnt. The importance of Mr. Robinson and his work ethic, amongst so many positive features also deserved mention.

Some of the positive aspects of the work are the way in which issues that appear to be specific to Michelle Obama's life open up broad questions about other issues. For example, the impact of discrimination is dealt with well. A well devised question refers to vulnerability in a neighbourhood where self-doubt is endemic, and then contrasts this with Michelle Obama's experience of a councilor's negative comment.

I found Becoming by Michelle Obama a joy to read, and certainly a book that deserves to be part of a book club discussion. This Book Club Kit provides a beginning for such discussion. However, it could have been improved with some simple reworking of some of the less thoughtful questions that appear amongst those that appear to have been given more attention. .

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with this publication for review..

An excellent addition to your book club, opens up meaningful conversations. Thinking about the life this incredible woman leads is truly inspiring.

I reviewed this book as I run a book club and am often looking for resources for discussion post-reading.

I was not a huge fan of the provided discussion questions. I felt that many of them, instead of intending to spur conversation, were meant to check for understanding. It almost felt like a quiz. This isn't the goal of my book club's discussion, so they did not appeal to me.

I did like the organization of this resource and the Q&A with Mrs. Obama.

I loved Becoming, and love these thought-provoking discussion questions about the book. These will be great for a book club, or when I want to reread and think more deeply about her story. I really love the quote tiles, and the interview at the end, as well!

I've never actually read a book club kit before. I have to admit, seeing them pop up repeatedly throughout NetGalley in recent days has had me intrigued. In a way, I think I kind of expected there to be more to it, but I'm not surprised by what the kit actually ended up being. This is the sort of thing you kind of expect to find at the very back of a book per author discretion. It's more or less the question guide to use in discussions.

Truth be told, I don't know why publishers use this as a sort of "bonus" to buying a specific book. Oftentimes, something like this is listed as the "bonus material" referenced on the front cover of a recently re-published novel. Often it includes discussion questions and an interview, much like this particular kit does. I'll be honest, I've never really cared for this bonus material in the back of a book. I think, in a way, I like it better as something separate. After all, not everyone cares or is going to use the "bonus material."

I, myself, have only been to two book club meetings and I learned very quickly that it just wasn't for me. That said, I think the discussion questions for this book are a lot more important than most. With such incredibly important topics broached on throughout the course of the book, of course those topics would lend themselves to some seriously impressive discussion points.

I have a feeling this is going in the back of the paperback reprinting of Michelle Obama's Becoming. It doesn't really entice me toward wanting to purchase an extra copy just to have this supposed bonus material, though. But, if I were to ever start a book club, I am certain that this would be an utterly brilliant book to start with.

I thought this was going to be the actual book. Yes, I know it says that it isn't in the description, but apparently I can't read. Still a nice set of questions though, one that I plan on using and consulting once I actually read the book.

This guide will be awesome to have for a book club discussion! In addition to a reader's guide, and a section of further discussion topics and questions, it has a conversation with Michelle Obama! This will be great to have if my book club decides to read Becoming in the future!

I reviewed the Book Club Kit for Becoming. This kit includes two sets of discussion questions, some quotes from the book, and an interview with Michelle Obama. The questions were quite complex and would make for thought-provoking book club discussions. I enjoyed reading the quotes! The interview was a bit short but also had some interesting insights.

I would definitely recommend using this book club kit for a book club discussion.
