I loved this book and thought it was so interesting. This was a great book club kit and I will definitely be recommending it.

This book club kit was very useful for our little online book club. A great way for us to find questions to use to talk about the book.

Pros: Becoming by Michelle Obama has been one of my very favorite memoirs. When I read it, I wished I were reading it with a book club because there was so much to discuss. When I saw this book club kit on NetGalley, I was interested to see the suggested discussion questions. Although I'm not reading this book with a group at the moment, the discussion questions were great for my own reflection. I think some readers shy away from this book because they think it will be political. I think the book club kit does a great job of posing questions that include readers of all political persuasions, if they will give the book and book club kit a chance.

Cons: None really. I'm not sure what readers might expect from such a guide, so it's possible this might not meet their expectations. Also, I'm curious about the Q&A--specifically when the questions were asked, who conducted the interview, and for what purpose it was conducted (this book club kit specifically or something else).

This 7-page Book Club Kit is dense with content, low on frills. It's labeled as a "Reading Guide," and contains:

- 15 questions, like "Why do you think Michelle Obama chose to name her novel Becoming?"
- A page of pull-quotes from the book.
- 15 ADDITIONAL questions for further conversation.
- 5 Q&A questions with Mrs. Obama.

All-in-all, this is a BCK that feels appropriate for a memoir by a former FLOTUS.

This paperback is a companion kit for Becoming, the memoir by the former First Lady of the United States. Included in this edition is a letter by Michelle Obama to her younger self and a five question Q&A which makes for additional interesting insights. There is also a helpful Book Club list of twenty questions prompting reflection for readers or group discussion. A useful aid for book clubs and so a four-star rating. With thanks to NetGalley and the author for a preview copy for review purposes.

Fantastic discussion guide to go with a fantastic book! It's lovely to have such well-thought-out questions to use to further dive into what I've read, whether with a group or individually.

Incredibly useful book club kit. It contains questions, quotes that can be used for discussion, and an interview with Michelle Obama that I feel will add to the overall bookclub meeting. As someone who participates in two book clubs (one of which I help facilitate) I look forward to using this with them when we read "Becoming".

This Penguin Random House Book Club Kit is such a great idea. It's short and concise, spicing up your book club meeting without making a literal plan or taking up your entire time as a group.

This kit consists of:
- a list of inventive, poignant questions; I love how thought provoking and open they are, welcoming many different points of view in your group
- graphically pleasing quotes from the author
- an interview with the author.

I loved the personal touches from Michelle Obama, making our group connect with her even more in this way. But I do wish there was something more, something creative, for example a self-help exercise or game, a DIY, recipes, playlist, etc.

Once lockdown is over this will be a great way to kickoff your book club!
Questions that’ll get you and your group thinking and sharing about the everyday life, and how these too are stories too precious not to share.

I loved getting to look through this fun Book Club Kit for Becoming by Michelle Obama.
I read this book last year and it instantly became one of my favorite memoirs . It's a great title for book clubs- there's so much to discuss.
The packet complements the book's cover art with a number of quotes from the book.
It also includes great discussion questions with a lot of thought put into them and an interview with the former first lady.
Thanks to Penguin Random House Library Resources and NetGalley for the advance copy.

A perfect pairing with the book! This book is a bestseller for a reason and having discussion topics or questions is great. This even looks a small portion of questions Michelle answered which is a great edition.

Interesting questions for a nice book club. This one also includes a short Q&A with Michelle Obama herself which was very nice to read!

A very nice biography about Michelle's life from the beginning, to meeting Barack Obama to now. I liked the aspects of her time at university since I could relate to that the most since I myself am attending university now. I loved to read about how she and Obama met, the stories about her children but also the political aspects.

Book Club Kit: Becoming is one of a new series of supporting brochures and materials available for fiction and nonfiction titles from Penguin Random House Librarian Resources. Released 11th Feb 2021 by Penguin Random House, this entry is filled with interesting background history to enhance the personal or book-club reading experience for prior First Lady Michelle Obama's honest and compelling memoir, which was published in 2018. This brochure is 6 pages long and includes book discussion questions, some quotes from Mrs. Obama, and a short Q&A interview with the author.

I enjoy the extra resources and enhancements the larger publishing houses are able to employ to support their publications. I also appreciate that most library systems can provide quite a lot of extra support and guidance to their patrons and groups. These materials would be appropriate for online/remote discussion groups, formal education (modern history, sociology, culture, politics, gender/race (although Mrs. Obama herself doesn't emphasize either of those characteristics) studies, and allied subjects), and for enhancing personal reading.

Five stars. Compact, succinct, and with beautiful typesetting and monotone grayscale graphics. It does -not- include the original book, just the discussion and support materials. Available free from the publisher's website.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Lots of questions and discussion topics along with a Q&A with Michelle herself. I loved Becoming and think this would have been an amazing kit to work through while reading. The font was a bit hard to read at times due to the color choices but it’s still a great kit.

Thanks NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the opportunity to review!
