I have many of this author's cookbooks in my personal collection, and will be adding this one shortly. This book in particular is full of easy, accessible recipes that any baker will love. Many classic cookies and a few new ones too.

The Cookie Bible has some new to me recipes and a bunch of staples.
What I liked about it, was the way the recipes were written down. Concise, with the extra bonus of 'mis en place' info about when to get what out of the fridge so it's not too cold.

From the minute I saw that Rose Levy Beranbaum had a new cookbook, I knew I had to check it out. I LOVE her Cake bible and have used it for several years now with much success so I was hoping I would have the same love for her cookie book. So far, I'm definitely in love! There are several different types of cookies in this wonderfully full "bible" from rolled to drop to cutout and bars. The first recipe I knew I had to try was the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Shortbread and boy, are they dangerous! First of all, quick and easy to make, no egg and the perfect combination of my two favorite flavors, peanut butter and chocolate. These are definitely a cookie that will be on my "keepers" list! They're very delicate so not ones to send off in the mail but for certain ones that will be loved by all in close proximity. I'm also looking forward to trying several others including the Melting Moments, Perfect Lemon Cookies and Whoopie Cookies but the thing that most thrills me about this book is that she includes WEIGHTS! I am a baker and I prefer to bake using my scale (in grams) so when I saw that this book includes the weights as well as measures I was over the moon excited to use it! This is definitely something I wish more cookbooks would do as it provides much better results! So this cookbook is definitely going on my shelf as a "keeper" right along side her Cake Bible!

I’m eager to try the recipes mentioned in the book! Especially loved the tips and baking gems that the author has added to recipe. Another thing I liked is the large number of eggless recipes. Looking forward to baking!
Thank you to the author and Netgalley for the ARC!

Right off the bat, I appreciated the way this book laid out its contents - it made so much sense to separate the cookies in this way (i.e. rolled by hand, dropped or piped, rolled and cut, etc.).. The Golden Rules are also extremely helpful and dive into very common sense techniques that will improve any cookie. I also very much appreciated the section on ingredients which really described why certain flours, sugars, etc. are better than others for specific tastes or textures. If I had one criticism, it is minor: The photos used make this book seem a bit dated (more like a 1970s-1980s cookbook).

This was a wonderful compilation of cookie recipes with something sure to please every single person you know. It is quite dense with information, much of it helpful hints and photos, which will be great for those who want as much information as possible, and potentially overwhelming for those who have a good grasp on baking cookies. I appreciate the variety of recipes offered and found I would bake many of the recipes within its pages.

I love this cookie bible! It certainly lives up to its name. The contents are labelled well - from "rolled by hand" to "dropped and piped. All sections are complimented by Matthew Septimus' gorgeous photography of the cookies described. Miro and Shilpa provide a beautiful foreword and describe perfectly how Rose Level Beranbaum has created a masterpiece here. The Driu Augen heart shaped cookies at the beginning set the scene for the book - a cookbook filled with heart. I loved the side by side conversion (US and Metric) on each recipe. It takes out some of the guess work, no matter which you prefer. The baking gems are a nice little section too. This really is the cookie bible and I cannot wait to purchase it on Nov 9th 2021! It will have a place on my cookbook shelf and I can see myself creating all kinds of cookies from it. The holiday section is particularly special as well as the special extras which outline the best ways to make everything from jam to lemon curd. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Love, love, love it! I love my sugar intake all too much and this book might be the death of me! (in a good way. it's not Rose's fault for creating such beautiful recipes. Well... maybe it is! haha) I couldn't stop drooling from all the pictures before me. Gosh. My kitchen is going to smell WONDERFUL in the next few days. Experiments are in process.

I admire how there are little tips and tricks for every single recipe, especially the little "Mise en place" snippet,

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book and leave an honest review.

The Cookie Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum is a beautifully photographed, thoughtfully written gem for any cookie baker. The ingredients are listed by both weights and measures so no conversion is necessary to get to your particular preference. Instructions are clear and the history of the recipes personalizes the baking experience. I found it especially found it fun to think about my introduction to some of these cookies. This is definitely a keeper - I think all the bakers in my family need a copy! Can I give it more than 5 starts?

I genuinely love this - from the way it is organized, to the ideas to the versatility of it all. I love baking, but cookies are not always my think, and I will be enjoying this this summer as I test recipes - I'll be posting a look at some of the ones I liked making next fall and will add it to this review.

WOW! What an amazing cookie book. From the first page of the introduction I was intrigued. The Cookie Bible is so well written; many tidbits of information and valuable tricks of the trade. The Cookie Bible has such a variety of kinds cookies. The recipes are ones that I’d actually make. The cookie (and more) recipes are well setup with detailed instructions and ingredient lists. Beautifully photographed images the cookies accompanies each recipe.

The Cookie Bible is the newest addition to the well-loved collection of baking cookbooks by Rose Levy Beranbaum. Excluding the forewords, the introductions, and the guides -- this has eight glorious chapters with a total of over a hundred recipes. This is one fully loaded cookie book that has got your cravings covered.

I have to be honest here and say, I don’t really read the foreword. But in this book, I absolutely loved reading this part. Miro and Shilpa Uskokovic did a really great job making me hungry while they described how much cookies they ate while they were testing recipes for this book.

Now let’s get to the recipes! The first thing I check for before testing a recipe is how the measurements are written. I bake for a living so I’ve always preferred using a digital scale, and also because my mentors insist on it. I was really happy seeing metric weights! From my experience, American cookbooks normally use volume weights for measurements, so I was relieved to see that they were at least both present.

The layout of the recipes are easy on the eyes and very easy to follow. Beginners will certainly appreciate all the tips and guides this book has provided, particularly the Baking Gems. One issue I have is there aren’t enough photos!

Overall, this seems like a great book to me. I have a list of recipes to try out from this and I can’t wait!

Thanks, Net Galley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for this ARC!

WHERE HAS THIS RECIPE BOOK BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?!? Seriously, I was only in about 20% when I said to myself not only am I going to buy a copy for myself but also for my father and my friends alike!!! This is BY FAR the only cookie recipe book you will ever need in life. Move over Martha Stewart! Ms Beranbaum puts her to SHAME!!!!! I highly recommend this book not only for its stellar recipes but also for it's baking tips in EVER RECIPE recorded.

I'm going to start in on some recipes I copied this week but rest assured THIS COOKBOOK WILL BE MINE!!!!!!!

This recipe book has a great combination of easy recipes for amateurs and more complex ones for experienced bakers. I really appreciated that both weights and measurements were included for each recipe. I also really enjoyed the huge variety included in this recipe book.
Although there are many photos included in this book, I would have preferred more as I personally like to compare my own pre-baked product with the photo to ensure I’ve completed everything correctly.

The Cookie Bible
The Cookie Bible is a beautifully written cookbook with excellent photography. It is a collection of every kind of cookie I could think of. Being a bread baker, I was glad to see weights of ingredients, not just measurements. The recipes are very detailed and might intimidate the novice baker but anyone who can read a recipe should be able to follow these because they are so clear in the step by step directions.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

So many recipes I want to try! This book is well laid out, with lots of delicious photos and detailed instructions. Most of the cookies here are fairly complex and have quite a few steps, but the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I made the snickerdoodles (which I've never made before from another recipe) and they turned out fabulously! Definitely one I'll be baking from again in the future.

This is a gorgeous cookbook for experienced cooks who want to make the best cookies possible. They do tend towards more elaborate recipes in order to create the perfect cookies. There are lots of photos, for almost every recipe. No nutritional information is provided.

Do note that these are for mainstream cooks who do not cook for anyone with dietary restrictions. I keep hoping that modern cookbooks will include at least a chapter for those who are gluten free, vegan, allergic to nuts or eggs, diabetic, keto, paleo, etc. but this is yet another that assumes everyone in the world wants to bake with butter, eggs, white flour and lots of sugar. Most of these recipes will not substitute well for those who can't have these ingredients. For those who don't mind this, this is an excellent resource.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
