Rose Levy Beranbaum couldn't have chosen a better title - this really is the Bible of cookies. This recipe book is jammed FULL of the widest variety of cookie recipes I think I've ever seen. It's packed with hundreds of different bake ideas.
I've read many many baking recipe books and so I was surprised at just how few of the cookies in this book I'd heard of. it's full of new and original bakes to try that I've rarely come across in the huge quantities of cookbooks on my shelf.
I'd say this this cookie book lends itself more to the experienced baker rather than a beginner, but having said that, all recipes have a broken down step by step process to follow. it's also a bug bear of mine when there isn't a photograph for every single bake in a recipe book - but that's just personal preference.
I like how each recipe has 'baking gems' hints to help you, and has a dedicated section to things you need to prep or have ready beforehand. So often you can get caught out when baking if you've not done something in advance - this book will prevent that happening! I'd recommend this cookie book for the simple fact that you are guaranteed to find a whole handful f bakes you've never heard of (but want to try) no matter how many recipe books you already own.

There are a lot of cookie recipes in this cookbook. However, there are not enough images. Honestly, this cookbook just looks like a running list of cookie recipes pulled from the internet.

Very lovely and well-done cookie book. Will definitely be right up the alley for anyone loving slightly fancy or crispy cookies.

I absolutely love this cookie bible book! I am an avid baker, specializing in cookies and breads, so this one spoke to me. It is full of hard to find yet super easy to make recipes that will delight and amaze everyone. I have been looking so long for a cookie recipe book like this.

Not only are the recipes clearly laid out, they are easy to follow and understand. I was impressed with how the recipes gave measurements in both weight and measuring sizes (such as cups, tsp, and Tbl). The photos that accompany the recipes are beautiful and mouth-watering.

I cannot say enough good things about this. I believe every baker will either preorder or run to the store on publication day to get their hands on this.

As a former baker, I always look for different takes and variations to baking cookies or other desserts. Let me tell you that this book is precisely that! There are so many different cookie recipes that all scream “make me!” with immediacy!

As for the book itself, the instructions are straightforward to follow. There are pictures of items to see how everything should look, so that’s a definite plus. I went ahead and preordered this book because it’s pretty awesomely perfect. I’d honestly recommend this to beginners and pros alike. It’s five stars from me!

What a delightful cookbook!! This cookbook actually includes SO MANY helpful basics at the beginning that I have not seen in other cookbooks before (and I have several that are just cookie based). I also like how each recipe was laid out. I think this would be a great book for any budding baker (even kiddo ones who can follow instructions and have someone in the kitchen with them) as well as any adult who loves to bake cookies. The recipes included great ideas and wonderful photographs!

Chocolate chip cookies, brownies oh my. What's not to like in this fantastic cookie cookbook. Rosy Levy Beranbaum has done it all in this complete volume. There is no one better to help you reach cookie glory than this author. She knows her job and she knows how to teach you to bake better and more interesting recipes. I will always use her cookbook for cookies because I know that every single recipe has been tested and retested before it even made it into the book. That's how I know that I can bake without worry. Get this book and let the baking begin!!

This is a classic cookbook by highly respected baker and cookbook author, Rose Levy Beranbaum. The recipes sounded delicious, from basic to complicated cookies. I really liked the way the chapters were divided, rolled, dropped etc.

I’m like forward to trying the lemon cranberry squares, the three nut ovals, and the melting moments, amongst others. I’m going to buy this book to refer to! 5 stars.

This looks like a fun cookbook. The recipes reflect the title - this is definitely a bible of cookie recipes. My only complaint - I can't open the downloaded PDF file and viewing on the Netgalley app (on my teeny tine phone screen) isn't conducive to reading. Would have made it much easier if this could be sent to reading device.

The absolute perfect holiday gift for the serious baker in your family—or someone aspiring to up their baking game! With every single recipe in this beautiful collection, Rose offers meticulous instructions and tips for successful outcomes. I especially loved (and copied and taped it inside a kitchen cupboard) her guide to KitchenAid mixer speeds. Low=2, Medium Low=3, and so on.

Her cookbook features luscious recipes. From Fudgy Pudgy Brownies, to Gingerbread Bourbon Balls to Lemon Cranberry Squares, this is a comprehensive book of hand-held treats. Some recipes are a bit complicated for my interest (I'm not going to brown the butter), but the book contains a recipe for every baker out there. I've made the Cocoa Brownies twice and received shouts of approval.

I look forward to making more of these cookies, bars, and candies to gift this holiday season. And, of course, I must try the dog cookies for my furry friends!

Excellent cookbook full of excellent cookie recipes. There are beautiful color pictures throughout the book. All of the necessary equipment is listed, and described in the beginning of the cookbook. The cookbook is divided into sections based on the types of cookies. Every baker's kitchen needs this cookbook as a staple in their kitchen.!

The title is completely accurate. There are dozens of recipes for all different types of cookies, all of which are organized by style (rolled, cut, bar, etc). There are also step-by-step instructions which are especially helpful if you’ve never done some of the techniques being used like toasting nuts or clarifying butter.
The recipe collection is a mix between traditional favorites and fun new ideas. I am most excited about the different international holiday favorites like Mandelbrot, Swiss Lebkuchen, and Hamantaschen.
She’s even gone so far as to give you different recipes for a base type of cookie! There are multiple chocolate chip cookie recipes, and there are also three different recipes for butter squares based on which citrus you want to use (lemon, orange, or lime).
This is the last cookie book you will ever need to buy! If you cannot find several recipes here that you and your family love, then you might just have to give up on baking cookies.

An excellent collection of innovative cookie recipes from a great cook. It has so many touches tome the recipes easy to follow. Ingredients are given both by weight and by volume. Every recipe has a section on prep (mine en place) to make the mixing and baking process easier. The recipes are divided into steps and are easy to follow. Each recipe ends with tips and many include variations.

In many cases, more than one method to mix or to shape the cookies is included. I like that the food processor is used for so many recipes, but mixing for those with mixers only is included.

I love the wide variety of cookies, divided into chapters by how they are shaped, from many different cookie traditions.

The Cookie Bible is just what it says - a cooking Bible for baking the best cookies ever!
These all sound so mouthwatering and although I've not made any yet, the recipes seem straight forward and easy to follow and the photos are amazing!
There is so much choice in this book as to which cookies to try first. There are brownies and meringues included too which I loved as I love both of these treats.
The only thing missing was the nutritional information which would have been nice to see.

The Cookie Bible is one of the most comprehensive and detailed recipe books I've ever come across.

The recipes and pictures looked so delicious that for a long time I never visited anyone empty-handed - I just baked an excessive amount and had to share.

The layout and the pictures were really nicely done. I also really appreciated the little tidbits of advice sprinkled throughout the book. I ended up learning a lot and none of my baking attempts failed!

I liked that there were so many options for measurements, though I would recommend getting a kitchen scale for anyone wanting to follow exactly, It also helped when trying to measure how to divide the cookie dough into individual cookies.

This was an incredibly fun time and I can't wait to buy a copy to keep in my kitchen.

Beranbaum's recipes are always very exacting, yet clearly written and beautifully explained. A few favorites from her other books can be found here, but the vast majority are new. (I've already tried the Cashew Comforts, which are easy to make and a delightful accompaniment to coffee!)

Includes recipes for all of the classics plus so many more. I've got quite a collection of cookie recipes and there were several in here that I hadn't heard of but that I can't wait to try!

Very few cookbooks make me hungry but this cookbook takes the crown because not only was I hungry for days but I couldn't stop myself from the 🍪 cravings.
