This is one of the most helpful cookbooks I've ever had the pleasure of using. Absolutely packed with classic recipes cover to cover. And the photos! Breathtaking!

I love the way the recipes are written, all the additional information and helpful tips, the communication style of the author, the multiple variations given with each recipe, I could go on and on. I worked through this book page by page and my family couldn't be more appreciative!

I am recommending this to everyone I know this holiday season. This is an absolutely perfect gift for any one who loves to spend time in the kitchen, beginner to professional!

There are SO MANY types of cookies in this book!

The layout is nice, especially the “baking gems” for every recipe. The steps are broken down nicely.

All the pictures are in color and are nicely sized. However, this book has many cookies that I have never seen before and I wish all the recipes have at least a small picture or two. I find that I am not inspired when the whole spread in a recipe is text.

For a family who wants to baking all different types of cookies with their kids and experiment in the kitchen, this would be a fun book. It would also work for people without kids. There is truly something for everyone.

For me, I cannot love a cookbook unless there is a picture for every recipe. I know that can be impractical and would make the book even larger and potentially more expensive. If you do not share my pickiness, this book might be for you.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a fantastic collection of cookie recipes, I'll have to add this book to my collection of cookbooks! There are several recipes in this book that I haven't seen in any other book. The only cookie recipe book you need!

My thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy.

Rose Levy Beranbaum has got to be the most meticulous cookbook author working these days. This is another worthy addition to any collection (both professional or personal; I'll be buying a copy for my home library as well). Absolutely packed with delicious recipes, precise methods and cookies you won't find just anywhere.

Rose Levy Berenbaum's meticulously detailed recipes are guaranteed hits. I made dozens of cookies from half a dozen of the recipes, and every one was exactly as described. The "Baking Gems" provided with each recipe explain the why of the techniques, and warn the cook of the consequences (not always dire) of ignoring the technique.

I will admit that I found the recipes "fiddlier" than my traditional cookie stand-bys. It wasn't clear to me, for example, that browning the butter for the molasses cookies made a discernible difference. But when approaching a new-to-me cookie, I could rest assured that the recipe would be clear, easy to follow and sure to succeed.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

While it would take many pounds and perhaps a lifetime to make, (and consume), all of the different cookies in this book, I see many more cookies in my future.
Levy Beranbaum always infuses her special touch in her baking. For example: because certain ingredients contain a fair amount of water and normally you would just add it to the rest of the ingredients, she has you boil out the excess water to give you the essence of the ingredient without all of the moisture, (Pumpkin Pecan Cookies).
One of my personal favorites is a variation of the basic chocolate chip cookie, Cranberry Chocolate Chippers.
Levy Beranbaum always gives credit to her cookie contributors, family and friends.
One of my favorite things about this collection is that she incorporates cookies any cooking styles from all over the world, from Greek Kourambiethes which incorporate clarified butter to Middle Eastern specialties which are sesame seed based.
Techniques abound, From "stenciled" cookies, Langues De Chats, (Cat's Tongues), to hand formed cookies like Rugelach, she really gives us a chance to really dig in and play with our cookies. Face it we don't get enough fun in our cooking!
Ice cream sanwiches, to classic muffin flavors, and even biscotti we have a remarkable collection for any occasion and even some for "just because". From potlucks to children's parties, I don't see any reason why you couldn't find an appropriate cookie in this "Cookie Bible".
I happily received this book as an ARC from NetGalley and Mariner Books. All opinions are my own!

I was so lucky to be able to read The Cookie Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum. I love cookbooks, and I love to just read them. This is one I plan on using all the time! I hope it is okay if I call the author Rose, because I feel like we have become friends. Rose has made a true "cookie Bible." She reviews each recipe, the ingredients, tools needed, and tips at the very beginning. She has was is called "Gems" which give tips and tidbits on each recipe. Also, with each recipe is the ingredients with the different units of measurements. I also love that she provides the different temperatures in the event you are not using the US temps.

This book is going to be my new cookie go-to. I already know I am making the Cranberry Chocolate Chippers for Thanksgiving! I also cannot wait to make the Melting Moments! They remind me of the wedding cookies we would splurge on as a kid. This book is just simply awesome! No other word to describe it!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just like Rose's other cookbooks, THE COOKIE BIBLE is a quintessential guide to cookies, both traditional and classic. I love how detailed and specific each recipe is, although I do wish there was a photo of every single cookie in this cookbook.

This is sure to be my reference material for baking cookies for years to come!

This gorgeous cookbook is a definite must for the cookie lover. Filled with decadent recipes, beautiful pictures, and tons of tips this cookbook does not disappoint. The variety of recipes is stunning, and I feel that whatever your mood or occasion, you will find a recipe that will appeal. Detailed, easy to follow instructions are included. As are many variations and also hints on how to achieve the very best result.

The Cookie Bible is a great comprehensive guide to all things cookie baking. I enjoyed reading through the tricks and techniques. I learned tons of new tidbits; for instance, you should have your oven preheating for 30-40 minutes before you bake- even if the oven says its up to temperature, its probably not.

Although I didn't get a chance to bake any of the recipes, I read through a few of them, the instructions were easy to follow, and the pictures looked divine!

Cooking, Food and Wine

Your cookie jar will overflow after browsing the delectable, delicious cookie recipes in The Cookie Bible. Award winning Beranbaum provides eight categories of cookies, ranging from hand shaped to holiday cutouts, so the variety should appeal to everyone. Not only are her mouthwatering recipes inviting, but the stunning photographs by Septimus are enticing, as well.

This book is well structured, with a recipe list for each grouping of cookies. The helpful tips on skills such as measuring, appear to be well-researched, as are the guidelines for equipment and ingredient selection.

I enjoyed reading the introduction to each recipe, offering descriptions, history, and anecdotes. International cookies such as Norwegian, German, French, and Italian add diversity to the outstanding collection. So many flavors will appeal to your taste buds, and I certainly noticed the cookies containing some of my favorite flavors, lemon, cranberry, and pumpkin. I'm excited about biscotti, as well. This beautiful book is a cookies lover's delight!

Thank you to Net Galley and Mariner Books for the advance reader's copy and opportunity to provide my unbiased review.

Another wonderfully comprehensive cookbook from Rose Levy Beranbaum. This would make an excellent gift for a baker, especially one just starting out because it covers almost every kind of cookie: Rolled by Hand, Dropped or Piped, Shaped by Hand, Rolled and Cut, Bar and Cake.

I can expect an excellent outcome with Rose's recipes but they aren't quick and easy. Always read through the recipe at least twice before starting because there are so many steps and details. I appreciate that thoroughness and attention to detail.

Also note there are variations of cookies that appear in some of her earlier cookbooks.

*I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and I am required to disclose that in my review in compliance with federal law.

For cookbook enthusiasts, Rose Levy Beranbaum is a trusted legend. Her recipes and tips never steer you wrong. In The Cookie Bible there is every imaginable cookie configuration and it is "a kid in a candy store" exciting to flip through the pages and imagine baking some of the most spectacular treats. There are perennial favorites and fanciful delights that will make you a better baker just by reading the recipe. There is no better cookbook to give as a gift or put in your home library - Rose thinks of everything and helps troubleshoot to make sure the product turns out perfectly every time. It is all in the details, and this is the best cookie cookbook I've ever seen.

The Cookie Bible is full of cookie recipes and great photographs.
What makes this cookbook special? This book includes the Golden Rules for Baking the Best cooks. There is a troubleshooting section that she calls Baking Gems that will help out if you are having any issues with how your cookies come out. There are detailed sections on equipment to use and ingredients. All of this information is in the front of the book before you get to the recipes. Don't skip these or at least know what is there in case you need it later.
The recipes are detailed and tell you what order to do everything in. There are directions in the Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe for one hour ahead, thirty minutes ahead and twenty minutes ahead of making the dough. There are directions for browning the butter and toasting the nuts which are optional. There are baking gems on each recipe and information to follow if you want thin, crispy or chewy cookies.
Then there are lots and lots of recipes for making cookies just like you would expect. A great cookbook that would make great gifts for friends and family.

The Cookie Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum is currently scheduled for release on November 1 2022. This cookie-centric cookbook features nearly every cookie imaginable, from rustic Cranberry Chocolate Chippers to elegant French macarons, and everything in between. There are simple drop cookies, rolled-and-cut holiday cookies, brownies and other bars, pretty sandwich cookies, luxurious frosted or chocolate-dipped treats, and much more. Recipes feature detail-oriented instructions, notes for planning ahead, ingenious tips, and other golden rules for success. Featured recipes include: Rose’s Dream Chocolate Chip Cookies, Lemon Lumpies, Black Tahini Crisps, Peanut Butter and Jelly Buttons, Double Ginger Molasses Cookies, Caramel Surprise Snickerdoodles, Mom’s Coconut Snowball Kisses, Chocolate Sablés, Gingerbread Folks (with a special sturdy variation for gingerbread houses), Pecan Freezer Squares, Brownie Doughnuts, Brandy Snap Rolls, and more.

The Cookie Bible offers readers exactly what they expect from the title. A wide range of cookie recipes, complete with fabulous photographs by Matthew Septimus. If you are new to cookie baking, or want just one cookbook for cookies, this is an ideal resource. There is a wide range of cookie styles, organized by cookie type, so there is something for everyone. I found the recipes to be clearly written, and I like that the ingredient list include imperial and metric measurements so readers can use the style they are most comfortable with. I thought the tips and tricks, and variation options, are useful to new and seasoned bakers alike. I already have two books of cookie recipes in my personal collection, so I cannot justify buying one for myself, however I recommend it to those that can add it to their personal libraries. I just might be requesting it from my public library as soon as I can to try a recipe or two that vary from ones I have been using to compare the results.

The Cookie Bible was such a fun cookbook to read. I loved the author's notes and tips for each cookie as well as just general information. I have used several of her tips in my baking and cookie making and I have been surprised at how much improvement I have seen. I loved the photos and story formatting throughout the cookbook as well. This is definitely a cookbook I will be purchasing because I cannot get enough of the My Dream Chocolate Chip Cookies, but making the chocolate chocolate chip version at the end of the recipe. My friends and neighbors cannot get enough of them!

Rose Levy Beranbaum is known for writing Bibles. She’s written her Cake Bible and Baking Bible and Pie and Pastry Bible (along with several other best-selling cookbooks). And now she feels like it’s time to eat some cookies. I mean, bake some cookies.

But that’s the thing about cookies, isn’t it? They so edible. Even if you’re full after a marvelous meal, you can still find room for a cookie. Everyone loves them, from young kids to old, because when you have a really good cookie, you feel like a kid again, no matter your age. Beranbaum understands that, and she has written this cookbook for the kids in all of us.

Beranbaum brings her expertise and attention to detail to her new Cookie Bible, where she shares all the cookie recipes she’s been collecting for decades, as well as some new inspirations, with bakers and readers ready to master tasty, beautiful cookies that are filled with surprises, textures, flavors, and techniques from around the world. Almost every recipe comes with her inspiration for the recipe, with her liberally giving credit to the other cookie bakers who have shared their recipes for her to experiment with. And the beautiful photos throughout will whet your appetite to bake and to eat.

Written for beginners as well as experienced bakers, The Cookie Bible is packed with recipes for cookies that are Rolled by Hand, Dropped or Piped, Shaped by Hand, or Rolled and Cut as well as chapters on Holiday Cookies, Bar and Cake Cookies, and Meringues and Candies, and even one chapter on extras like homemade Dulce de Leche, Wicked Good Ganache, Candied Orange or Lemon Peel, Milk Chocolate Mousse Ganache, Lemon Curd, and Raspberry Jam.

Each recipe is packed with helpful information, spelled out, so bakers can follow her path to cookie success. For example, her My Dream Chocolate Chip Cookies, starts out with the basics of oven temperature, baking times, and special equipment as well as the ingredients for the dough and the Mise en Place (a French cooking term that means getting what you need together and prepped). For this recipe, the Mise en Place includes browning the butter and toasting and chopping the walnuts. Then there are the step-by-step instructions to Make the Dough, Shape the Dough, Bake the Cookies, and Cool the Cookies. Then there are several Baking Gems, some of Beranbaum’s tips to bring the best flavor to the cookies. These gems are about the kind of chocolate and butter to use, how to use the oven to get the level of crispiness you want, and how to freeze the dough to bake later. And then she offers variation ideas for different chocolates or nuts. She even has two different recipe variations for this cookie, for a Thin, Crisp, and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie and for a Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie.

Those same types of instructions and ideas are included throughout The Cookie Bible, whether it’s for a classic like her Fudgy Pudgy Brownies, Gingerbread Folks, Florentines. or Scottish Shortbread Wedges, or if it’s for her Candied Pineapple Biscotti, Lemon Jammies, Bourbon Balls, Churro Nuggets, Lemon Cranberry Squares, Tahini Crisps, or Pumpkin Pecan Cookies, just to name a few of the dozens of recipes included in this cookie compendium.

I am a big fan of cookies, as they were the first think I learned to bake, and they are what I still turn to as my favorite easy comfort bake. I was so excited to see that one of my pastry heroes had turned her attention to cookies, and I know I will refer to this book over and over in my baking years to come. This will be one of those cookbooks where I buy the Kindle version as well as the hardcover, because as I find my favorite recipes in the hardcover, I will inevitably end up spilling things on those pages and possibly gluing the pages together (I’m guessing . . . based on previous experiences with my favorite baking cookbooks. But you should do what’s right for you.) Keep in mind, though, that this would be a perfect gift for bakers watching competition shows and wanting to know how to get started in baking. It would be an even better early holiday gift, so bakers can start making cookies for all those end-of-the-year holiday parties and exchanges that require lots of delicious cookies.

Egalleys for The Cookie Bible were provided by Mariner Books through NetGalley, with many thanks.
