I had a hard time putting this book down. There is a strange tradition in this town, one that has been going on for generations. Two friends decide it is time to see if there is any truth to it or not. Together three kids take a big risk, and the night takes an surprise turn fast. But these kids have a plan and they hope to put this tradition to rest for good. Yet as this book comes to a close this story is far from over.

Thank you Netgalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a fun, mystery middle grade read. I don't believe it's meant to be along the lines of a thriller, but I really enjoyed the illustrations and the creepiness of the mustache. This is a great, quick read for elementary kiddos who are super into mysteries or similar books like Goosebumps (without so much scary)!

It should come as no surprise that this isn't particularly scary. We are talking about a mustache after all. At the same time, it's not as funny as I expected. The only real source of humor seems to be the fact of the mustache. Most of the threat appears genuine.

Thankful to have read the first in a new spooky mystery series by Joe McGee. This will be the PERFECT series for my 3rd graders next year, especially for fans of Chabert’s Eerie Elementary series. Lots of creepiness and LOL moments. I mean… there’s a day where everyone must wear a mustache because if not then the haunted mustache can claim your lip forever! It is publishing late August. I can’t wait to read the second book titled The Lurking Lima Bean coming this fall, too.
