Excellent book! I read this as a stand-alone and it worked. While past series characters were mentioned, not knowing their stories did not detract from this story. I thought that the pure evil was written well--evil, but not enough to give me nightmares. Now I want to go back and read the other books in this series.

This edge-of-your-seat novel was the best of the whole series! Ava and Caden grew up together, but when her life suddenly crumbles, he realizes with a shock that there’s an entire side to her that he never dreamed of. She’s a scrappy fighter able to take care of herself except against the ruthless killer who’s executing entire families and who’s ready to gun for her next. Caden certainly never dreamed that her travel-writer father was secretly CIA. But the father crossed the wrong Russian operative and that man’s out for blood now!

I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough on this story and loved watching the suspense play out. I’ll definitely be rereading it in the future.

Eason has done it again! Hostile Intent is the fourth book in her latest series, and just like the books before it, it takes readers on a wild suspense-filled ride.

Ava Jackson recently retired from the Navy to care for her ailing mother after her father's sudden death. While walking back to her car one evening, Ava is attacked by an unknown assailant. Thankfully, FBI Special Agent Caden Denning arrives just in time to fight off her attacker. Unfortunately, Ava somehow seems to be connected to Caden's current investigation into a series of horrific murders, and whoever is after her isn't about to give up easily. Ava and Caden find themselves racing to find whoever is responsible for the gruesome killings of entire families before he strikes again. Does Ava hold the key? Can she find room in her life (and heart) for love? What really happened to her father, and how exactly is this all tied to her?

Hostile Intent is a well-written fast-paced novel with realistic characters and heart-pounding suspense. The twists and turns throughout the plot nearly gave me whiplash and kept me glued to the page until the last sentence. If you enjoy Eason's books or just clean suspense novels, you won't want to miss this one.

After reading the first three books in the Danger Never Sleeps Series I could not wait to get my hands on Caden’s story! Who doesn’t love a protective big brother? He had no trouble winning my heart not too long after I met him. I was dying to see what type of woman would be the one capture his heart. As it turns out, Ava is the type of person we all want to be. She is physically fit, able to hold her own in a fight, and also incredibly smart. If she wasn’t all those things I might be tempted to think she isn’t good enough for Caden, but she’s proven herself worthy.

Hostile Intent was impossible to put down. It was heart breaking, terrifying, and yet also romantic. I love trying to figure out a good mystery and this one kept me on my toes. I enjoyed watching Ava and Caden’s chemistry and how they played off of; and learned to lean on each other. This story completely took me by surprise! There were so many unexpected twists and I loved playing detective right along with them. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Romantic Suspense. This novel was a great addition to the series, but I would say it can also be read as a stand alone. Lynette Eason is one of the best, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Ava Jackson retires from the Navy to care for her mother. For ten years, the Navy provided her with the most regular family she’s ever known. Her father died during one of her deployments, and she doesn’t want her mother to die alone, too.

While walking to her car after a visit to her mother at her care facility, someone brutally attacks Ava. She manages to escape with minor injuries when a good Samaritan stops to help.

FBI Special Agent Caden Denning arrives at a nursing facility just in time to break off an attack on the woman he’s looking for—Ava Jackson. He’s on the trail of a serial killer who targets entire families—even small children.

An old photo of Ava Jackson and her father hold the only key to what ties the murders together. Caden and Ava team up to stop the killer before the killer can strike again. It appears Ava is already on his list.

Why I Loved This Book

Eason knows how to build strong characters, create tension, and keep the reader immersed in the story for hours on end. Don’t open this one unless you have time to spare. Or you could just forego meals and cancel appointments. Fans of Cara Putman, Colleen Coble, and Kelly Irvin will enjoy this book.

Filled with Suspense, But Too Much Violence

Hostile Intent by Lynette Eason is the fourth book in the Danger Never Sleeps series.

Cold, calculating with a hardened heart set on vengeance, Nicolai will stop at nothing to make these people pay for what was done to his family. FBI Agent Caden Denning is working on this case and is trying to find out why three families have been killed and how they are connected. When evidence turns up at the crime scene, a photograph of his friend Ava Jackson, as a small child with her father, Caden is concerned that Ava may be the next target. He will stop at nothing to bring a killer to justice and protect his friend.

I’ve read the other books in the Danger Never Sleeps series and liked them. I especially liked the friendships between the main characters who are highlighted in each of the books. While I like some of the characters in this book, the violence was over the top. In the first chapter, readers are introduced to the villain who goes on to murder two families, and we learn about two other families whose murders are connected to this case. Later, Ava is attacked and is on a hit list. The villain not only wants to murder Ava but torture her and make her suffer. I like mystery and suspense novels, but I was surprised that this was in a book from a Christian writer and publisher. I would expect to see this in a book from a secular publisher.

This book has lots of twists and turns, some not so believable, like what happened to Ava’s dad. The story kind of drags a bit when the story should be advancing. I liked the Caden Denning character, but the budding romance between Caden and Ava was a bit of a stretch.

Hostile Intent is the novel I liked least in the Danger Never Sleeps series. I liked that the characters and friendships from the earlier books carried over to this one. For me, the issues were the over-the-top violence, convoluted storyline, and the romance wasn’t believable.

Would I recommend Hostile Intent? Perhaps for someone who is a fan of Lynette Eason’s writing. But for others, I would pass on this book.

I would like to thank Revell Publishing and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of Hostile Intent by Lynette Eason. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.

I am reviewing a copy of Hostile Intent through Revell and Netgalley:

Shortly after high school Ava Jackson entered the military but her mother's illness has forced her to request an early discharge. She lost her father while deployed, and there's no way she's going to let her mother die alone. But after a visit to the nursing facility where her mother lives, Ava is attacked walking back to her car. Fortunately, FBI Special Agent Caden Denning arrives in time to help fight off her attacker.

It is Caden who reveals to Ava that she may hold the key to the murders of three families, and he needs her help before anyone else is harmed. The hits show a pattern, and clearly the killer has an agenda. But if Caden and Ava can't discover what it is, Ava may be next on the hit list.

If you are looking for a great, suspenseful read, I highly recommend Hostile Intent.

I give Hostile Intent five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Another very good book from Lynette, she never disappoints.

For some reason I was really looking forward to Caden’s story and him finally finding romance and it was worth the wait.

Non-stop action in this one, never a dull moment as this mystery unravels and things are reveal at just the right moment. I had my suspicions about a few things early on but wasn’t sure if I was correct not (I was).

Overall a very good read. If you like romantic suspense you will enjoy this book.

A copy of this book was given me to be through the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Excellent read! This book is full of secrets, the KGB, CIA, sudden murders which must connect some way, and a fast tract suspenseful ride.
While in more recent days, scandal has surrounded the FBI and CIA, most of us do not realize some of the great sacrifices many of the “little people” play on a daily basis to help keep our nation safe.
Having read the previous books in this series, it was nice to have the four couples stories tie together. However, this is very much a stand alone book.
Once started, you will not want to put this book down. The author adds clues and information in just the right places to keep the suspense at its highest peak.
Fabulous ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Someone is killing families and FBI Special Agent Caden Denning needs to find him before he kills again. He has reason to believe the killings are somehow linked to his sister’s friend from childhood, Ava Jackson and her father. She has recently been told her father is dead. Ava has kept his secrets for years, but one that she never knew about has now put her life in danger. Can Ava and Caden find the killer before it’s too late?

This is a well plotted story that is filled with intrigue and secrets. The action scenes are tense and well paced. There is chemistry between Ava and Caden, but Ava’s history hasn’t left much room for romance. Can Caden change this?

This well written novel is filled with surprises, twists and turns and romance. Engrossing and fast moving, this book is well worth reading. Highly recommended.

For a suspense book, there was a lot going on in this story. While it has a romantic thread, I felt it did fall more into the suspense category than purely romantic suspense. You get to see old past friends stop in throughout the story as well. I was biting my nails a few times in the story.

With the FBI and CIA both involved, there is lots of action in Hostile Intent! Ava Jackson was one brave lady who was determined to find the truth about her father and about the murders taking place among Russian immigrants! I admired FBI Special Agent Caden Denning for being there for Ava even though she didn't think she wanted a man in her life! You will keep reading to see what is going to happen next! Lynette Eason has written another exciting suspense Book. I recommend Hostile Intent to anyone who enjoys suspense. I received a complimentary e-book through Revell and NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

Hostile Intent is a fantastic conclusion to what’s been a brilliant series. I sometimes find with series that they can drag on a little, but the opposite is true here. The whole four books have held my attention from start to finish, and this final installment is no different.

We enter the action with reports of whole families being gunned down. Meanwhile, Ava Jackson has received an early discharge from the Navy to care for her dying mother. She lost her father while on deployment and is determined to stay by her mom’s side. When she’s targeted while walking to her car, FBI Special Agent Caden Jennings, her lifelong friend is there to help.

Caden then explains that Ava may be linked to the family murders and the pair team up to solve the crime before Ava becomes the next victim. With some shocking twists and turns and plenty of action, this is Lynette Eason at the top of her game.

Along with sharing Caden and Ava’s stories, Hostile Intent offers a roundup of characters from throughout the series, certain to satisfy readers of the previous three books.

Hostile Intent
By Lynette Eason
Book 4 in the Danger Never Sleeps series
Rating: 4/5

Lynette Eason does it again! She has this uncanny ability to keep the reader’s attention and weave this intricate plot regarding secret pasts and the people involved. This book can be read as a stand-alone but would be more enjoyable if read in order.

Ava has a secret that she’s never shared with anyone, but when she discovers she’s on the radar of someone who is killing whole families in different states, FBI agent Caden is not willing to risk her safety. With the help of some friends (introduced in earlier books), Ava and Caden must race against time to uncover the truth and save each other. Can Ava handle working with her childhood crush? Can Caden ignore his budding feelings for the mysterious Ava? Will she ever be able to trust him?

As someone who has enjoyed the previous books in the series, I was not at all surprised that I continued to enjoy this book. It jumps right into the villain’s head and then switches perspective throughout the story. Faith is mentioned briefly in parts but is not preachy. The action and attention-to-detail is top notch and you can tell the author did her research.

Highly recommend if you enjoy Christian romantic suspense with lots of mystery and action.

My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

Hostile intent by Lynette Easton
I have to say this was a outstanding book. Hostile Intent is the fourth book in the "Danger never sleeps" series. All books in the series are stand alone and I would recommend all four books.

Author Lynette Easton knows how to pull you into the story from the very beginning and keeps you wanting more. I sit in suspense waiting to see what was going to happen next.

The main characters Ava and Caden are so likable and their storyline is great. I would highly recommend Hostile Intent to someone wanting a amazing suspense book.

I received this complimentary copy for a honest review. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

Hostile Intent by Lynette Eason was one of my favorite books of hers. She once again proves she is at the pinnacle of Christian romantic suspense. The action was nonstop and you were not sure who you could trust.

Ava is a Navy analyst and Caden was an FBI Special agent. I was fascinated by her father’s occupation and how they bonded.
The characters were fascinating to me. And it was a bonus seeing the other characters from the series making appearances.
Caden is trying to catch a serial killer who is killing entire families. Ava may be connected in some way. They work together to try and find the clues to who could be doing this and why.

Lynette always raises the notch on romantic suspense. Well done!

Romance – kiss
Violence – there are hints at human torture, and violence to children
No drinking or language.

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

This story blew me away! This has been my favorite book in the series so far: while it was still wasn’t a book that I would consider ~literature~, it was definitely one that I might actually reread in the future and recommend to other people.

If nothing else, this book was so fast paced and exciting! Once I started, I could not put it down until I had finished the book. Some things that I think really contributed to my enjoyment of the book were: a POV from the antagonist–I always think that books are so much creepier and more exciting when there is a POV from the antagonist!–, the fact that it wasn’t a military based story–previous books in this series were focused on the military, and while Ava was in the navy, it was a very minor point in this book–, and that there was so much history based action/backstory. With that being said, there was quite a bit of brutally described murder, so if you’re particularly sensitive to things like that, this would not be the book for you.

The chemistry between the protagonist and the love interest was good, better than in many books that I’ve read. While childhood friend romances are sometimes hit or miss for me, this one felt really natural and sweet, and I really liked Caden and Ava’s dynamic. They were both realistic characters with depth to their personality, and I liked seeing the various aspects of their life as they also worked to solve this case, such as Ava’s relationship with her parents and sibling (the special connection she had with her father was so special and I loved reading it!).

I’m not 100% sure how I feel about the Russian KGB being tied into this: I don’t really know enough about it to be well informed about the history and the likelihood of what occurred, but from what I knew, it was interesting I guess? It very much assumed a particular political stance blanketly, which I don’t fully agree with or understand, but like I said, I don’t really know enough to criticize it one way or another. While the background of the antagonist is very Russian KGB driven, the story overall doesn’t involve Russia a ton, which makes it much better than I would have otherwise rated it.

Like any Christian suspense book, there is a certain suspension of disbelief required to really enjoy this story: for instance, one of the office manager type people, Daria, seems to be able to procure and transmit information instantaneously, getting search warrants and BOLOs and cell phone tracking at an instant, which is . . . definitely not how it works. A lot of Ava’s ~knowledge~ really just isn’t feasible for any one person to be able to do, but chalking it up to her ~military background~ works for kind of disregarding the whole thing. Overlooking small things and not nitpicking unlikely scenarios like that really make the book a lot more enjoyable.

Overall, this is my favorite book out of the series (though I haven’t read the first one). It is very, very gory with descriptions of point-blank murder, so if you don’t like reading graphic violence like that, I would definitely not recommend it to you. However, if you enjoy fast paced suspense that isn’t laden with technological terms, characters, and legalism, this is the book for you.
