Hostile Intent starts off with a bang and keeps it up to the end. A man is killing families in a serial killer fashion and it is obvious that he has a list to complete. When a family is killed in Greenville, South Carolina, FBI Special Agents Caden Denning and his partner Zane Pierce recognize a friend in a photo found in the attic. How does Ava Jackson know the family? Ava has left the Navy and is between jobs. The journey begins to find Ava's connection to the killer and the families. It all seems to tie in with her father, who is in the photo as well. His background is a close kept secret, one not even Ava's mother nor brother know about. It soon becomes apparent that Ava is in danger so Caden stays close to keep her safe as they work to unravel the puzzle. Her father died eight months ago. Or did he? This is an intense action packed story with danger, mystery, sickness of hate and revenge, threaded with faith and unspoken feelings of admiration/maybe love. This one is a mystery that goes back to years past but is tied to present day. Friends from previous books in the series make appearances and there are some new updates and announcements. A great read not to be missed by lovers of suspense with a little romance and faith.

Hostile Intent is a contemporary thriller written by Lynette Eason. It is book four in the Danger Never Sleeps series. It is not necessary to have read the other books in order to enjoy this one.

Summary: Ava Jackson life is in turmoil. Grieving the loss of her father from a tragic accident, she is determined to be there for her ailing mother who doesn’t have long to live. She requests an early discharge from the military, and finds a place to live close to her mother’s nursing home.

But something sinister is going on behind the scenes. Entire families are being murdered, and somehow Ava is connected. Will she be able to work with old friend FBI Special Agent Caden Denning to discover who is behind these vicious crimes before any more families end up dead?

My Thoughts: This book is filled with action, drama, and mystery. The plot is exciting and has plenty of twists and turns up until the very end.

It was a very fun read (as are all the books in this series), and I enjoyed it.

Ava has left the Navy and is available to be with her mom on a daily basis. Her mom doesn’t remember her, but after the death of Ava’s father months before, she doesn’t want to miss being by her mom’s side. The thing her brother would like her to stop doing is acting like his mother. Caden and his partner Zane are called in on the murder of a family and finds out other family’s have died in similar manner. When Ava and her Dad seem to be a part of the puzzle he heads over to the care facility to talk to her, interrupting an attack on Ava. The story takes off fast as Caden and Ava try to figure out the connecting pieces, as well as keep her from harm. Ava has many pieces of her own life that Caden wasn’t aware of. Page turning story, following whatever clues might lead somewhere, with action that doesn’t let up until near the end. We also see Asher, Brooke, Sarah, Gavin, Heather, Travis briefly, all whom we meet in previous books of this series. We also meet John and Julie, Nicolai, Petra, Mickey and his grandparents and a few others.

This is the 4th book in the Danger Never Sleeps Series. I did not read the 3 previous books in the series but was captured by the story. Ava has been through so much in her life and she is still such a strong woman. I really enjoyed the characters of Ava and Caden. The author keeps you enthralled in the story and eager to find out what happens.

“Hostile Intent” by Lynette Eason is another excellent read! Just like the author’s other books, this book stayed with me from the first page to the last page. This book showed the author’s research as this one was a little more complicated than her other books.

This book follows Ava Jackson and FBI Special Agent, Caden Denning. There are three families that have been murdered and Caden believes Ava may hold the key to the “why”.

I highly recommend this book, along with all of Lynette Eason’s books. They are good, clean, non-stop action!

This was a quick and fun read that hit all the good points of a murder mystery with a strong female lead and danger around every corner.

I liked this book. All of the things that kept happening to Ava were a touch far fetched. The suspense and mystery were well written. I would recommend to others.

What an incredible ending to the series! It is full of heart pounding suspense that keeps you turning pages long into the night. Lynette Eason is a masterful storyteller that draws you in and makes you feel as if you are living the story.

The book opens with FBI Agent Caden Denning being called to the scene of a murder. While investigating, he soon discovers it is more complex than appears and connects somehow to his sister’s good friend, Ava Jackson. As they work together to try to solve the murders, they are thrust into danger and mystery at every turn leaving the reading guessing what is coming next. Ava must decide if she can be truly honest with Caden and share her story or will it just create more danger.

While this book can be read as a standalone, do yourself a favor and read the entire series. Every book is full of suspense, danger, and just the right amount of romance. One of my favorite series by Lynette Eason!

I have thoroughly enjoyed Lynette Eason’s “Danger Never Sleeps” series from the very first book. Eason drew me in with summaries filled with intrigue and action, and...well, she hooked me to her writing style and likable characters. Hostile Intent is by far my favorite out of all the Eason books that I have read. It is complex, thrilling, and entertaining from cover to cover. I wish the series would continue!

The only reason why this book doesn’t get five stars from me is because I felt there were a few inaccuracies, and I figured out the novel’s “big twist” before its reveal. That seems to be a trend, though, so maybe I shouldn’t detract from it…or maybe I read too many romantic suspense novels. For all intents and purposes, though, Hostile Intent by Lynette Eason is not predictable. Each chapter builds upon the last, and you don’t want to put the book away. I certainly didn’t; I read the book in a day!

While Hostile Intent closes out the series, it also stands firmly on its own. Somehow, a connection exists between Ava Jackson and a serial killer attacking families across the United States. Agent Caden Denning won’t rest until he’s brought to justice, because Ava’s life is on the line. While Caden wants to protect her, he also knows Ava well enough to understand that she can be a vital resource. So, they work together to solve the case…and to address the attraction between them.

What I appreciated most about Hostile Intent was that the relationship was not forced. It blossomed naturally, and I loved how Eason took her readers into Caden and Ava’s shared past. Both characters also had depth to them—unique traits and quirks that demonstrated Eason took time to develop their personalities into people, not only names on a page. A book cannot be successful without strong characters, and Hostile Intent delivers.

Hostile Intent is action-packed. Car chases. Torture. A semi-automatic firearm attached to a drone. Bad guys in ski masks. Murder. KGB. Espionage.

But it also evokes positive, wholesome emotions that prevail through the violence and bedlam: Hope. Reason. Purpose. Faith. Love. Trust. Loyalty.

This book has it all, and the chaos starts on the very first page—the very first line:

“Today, the watching ended and the killing started.”

My Thoughts: I’ve been lost in my historical romances of late and this book was just what I needed to redirect my attention to other romance genres such as suspense! I love a good suspense and this was good suspense! Although this book is part of a series, I have not read the previous books. The characters, relationships, and plot were easy enough to catch onto while reading while still managing to build suspense to the story. I appreciated that nothing seemed predictable or irrational to make the story work. The drama was on point and the romance was sweet. This is a great book to add to your summer reading.
Inspiring thoughts: “When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.” – I feel like we all need a mantra or catechism for different life scenarios. I really liked this simple sequence for when I am afraid. It reminds me of who God is why I can trust Him. I can think on all the reasons I praise Him to combat my fear and trust Him.
“And it’s not that I don’t think you can take care of yourself. It’s the fact that we all need someone to have our back sometimes.” – I can be strong and still accept the support of others. I don’t have to do it all myself.

Talk about a compelling first line! Totally pulled me in and kept me enthralled all the way to the ending.

'You don't know what you're doing. The fine line you're walking. The people you may be putting in danger.'

Lynette Eason knows her way around a suspense story and this one is heart-pounding suspense to the thrilling ending. Eason has contrived a plot that was fascinating with many twists and turns that kept my heart in my throat many times. This one is bound to satisfy any suspense fan. Well done!

Yes as you quickly page turn for answers, and shaking your head, why? While many times holding my breath as the horrible, evil deeds are revealed.

We are reunited with past characters, but this is really a read alone, but happy to say hello, and catch up. This is Ava and Caden's time, and poor Ava's mother is not doing well, and Ava's dad has recently been declared deceased. So much personal pain, but things get worse, but why? Answers are forthcoming, murders of three families, all including children, horrible.

If you enjoy suspense at its finest, Lynette Eason does not disappoint!

Don’t let the fact that this is a Christian romantic suspense novel fool you. It’s full of non-stop action; car chases, men with ski masks and guns, shoot outs, spy rings, Russian KGB, and murder. It’s mixed with just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing and because it’s a suspense novel, the tension escalates due to the reader knowing more than the protagonist.

FBI Special Agent Caden Denning and his partner, Zane Pierce, are part of a multi-state manhunt for a killer who’s left a string of bodies in his wake. Puzzling the investigating officers is the removal of family photos from each crime scene. Do the victims know each other? Do they know their killer?

Denning’s path intersects with his childhood friend, Ava Jackson, who is grieving the loss of her father while she was deployed and has been discharged early from the navy to care for her dying mother. Denning is convinced Ava is a target and believes she holds the key to why these military family murders are occurring.

I loved the varied pacing and the high stakes tension of a fight to survive scenario. My heart was pounding and I was flipping pages trying to make sense of buried secrets and trying to outsmart the killer. Eason’s twists surprised me I was unaware that this was the final book in a four-book series, Danger Never Sleeps, but can report that it can stand alone. A new author to me, I loved how Eason fills readers with hope despite the current world situation and the pervading evil, and gently shares a Christian message about reason, purpose and a "future filled with hope and love."

Hostile Intent wraps up the Danger Never Sleeps series with another dramatic adventure. Families have been found murdered by an assassin in several states. A mysterious picture with unknown men may be the key to the murders. Can Ava and Caden solve the mystery before someone else dies? Lots of twists and turns in this intriguing story. Recommended!

"Hostile Intent" is a Christian romantic suspense. This book is the fourth in a series, but it works as a standalone. Both Ava and Caden were competent and did a good job of thwarting the bad guy. The suspense came from Ava being a target as well as the need to solve the complex mystery of what was going on and who was killing people before more people died. The main characters were engaging and reacted realistically to events. Ava and Caden worked very well together and finally acknowledged an attraction that had existed for a long time. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting story.

This is an exciting book that was a pleasure to read. I will recommend it to our patrons. It has already been preordered for our library.

This book is full of suspense. The twists and turns will keep you reading page after page. Only once did the author come close to putting action in the book that would have made me chuck it. But she didn't go there. No spoiler alert here. Just keep reading. It's all good. Lynette Eason has produced another winner.

Nicolai wanted answers, the photo of a child, was she the daughter of his enemy, finding Maksim he would know. What he didn’t expect, a gun appeared before he got the answer.
FBI Caden Denning, his partner Zane Pierce . With 3 families, in three different states, pictures taken from each scene, showing they knew one another. As a kid he knew Ava and her brother Nathan, finding a photo in an attic of her with her father. A man who didn’t have pictures taken and in Russia. Ava was fluent in Russian, recognizing and questioning the photo, she is the piece, the killer wants, but why.
I like the plot line, you have the connections now to figure out what this serial killer wants. To find a teen boy that wasn’t at home, learn fighting while going to a dojo, and could recognize the killer. Old photos of a little girl.
A good story and a good series worth reading. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion for Net Galley and Revell.

Who is Ava Jackson, who is after her and why. These are the questions FBI agent Caden Denning faces as his investigation intersects with his childhood friend's life. She's the key to figuring out the murders of three families, but until they can put the pieces together, her life is in danger.

A lot of suspense, as per Lyntte Eason's style, with twists you may not see coming, keeping you on the edge of your seat as the investigation ensues. Sometimes by the fourth book in a series there can be a lackluster storyline, but not this one. I enjoyed it a lot.

I’ve read several books by Lynette Eason and have always enjoyed them. This one was no different. It’s fast paced and easy to read and hard to put down at times. I highly recommend this book you won’t be disappointed.
