I always want to love anything with a dog on the cover and a dog in the story but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Don't get me wrong, this was super cute and I definitely chuckled a few times. I just reply disliked the main female character and that kind of ruined it for me.

Well this one was a bit of a let down...I was wanting more from the characters and the plot. The story was kind of cute and maybe a little cheesy which definitely matches the cover, but the main character did my head in honestly! Like I really did not like her or her attitude, and in the end she made this one overall not an enjoyable read for me. Thanks for my ARC!

I'll admit I was drawn in more by the adorable cover than the blurb. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into this one. I gave it a few chapters to see if it would grab me, but it never did. The female MC was annoying me and the actions of some of the side characters, even in the early chapters, had me rolling my eyes. It just wasn't for me.

Just a small town girl living in a lonely worlddd, with her Dalmatian. For records sake, this is and should only be the only Dalmatian in Turtle Beach.

Everything changes one fateful morning when Sam waltzes on the beach with his Dalmatian. All bets are off in a game of firefighter vs. police chiefs daughter. Violet makes a bet with Sam, Dalmatian angst and all. Little does she know she may be trying to protect her heart but nothing will stop Sam from spotting his way inside.

A Spot of Trouble is your typical enemies to lovers small town romance. As a fan of Teri Wilson novels, I had high hopes for this novel. The setting was picturesque but that was one of the only things going well for the story. With forgettable characters and a been there, done that plot this novel lacks.

Unfortunately, this book was my 1st DNF of the fall/winter season.

Within 3 chapters, I was so annoyed by the female main character, I couldn't possibly care what happened next.

In those chapters alone, her basic story was:
Accusing the male MC of stealing her dog, calling her family to arrest him, not apologizing when it turns out to be his own dog, taking cupcakes to the firehouse as an apology and then taking the cupcakes back because she doesn't like that he's a good baseball player (was supposed to go to MLB), because that might dim her family's police department's light/chances in the police vs. fire dept softball tournament.

For 28, she sounded 13. Not my cup of tea.

But thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing the ARC.

This was a super cute romcom with two of the best supporting characters: a couple of Dalmatians.
If you loved 101 Dalmatians growing up then you’ll have a soft place in your heart for this book and storyline because I know I did.
Sam Nash moves to Turtle Beach, NC after working as a firefighter in Chicago for a fresh start with his Dalmatians Cinder. He figured the small beach town, and his new job as Fire Marshal, would be just what he needs. Then in sweeps Violet Marsh and her own spunky Dalmatian, Sprinkles, disrupting his new life right from the start. Will these two enemies ever give in to their attraction to one another? Hilarity ensues with the help of the geriatric Golden Girls, a Guns and Hoses softball tournament, several fire violations and plenty of Dalmatian sensation.
This was entertaining from start to finish. The only thing I would’ve changed was adding more passion and spice from our two MC’s. This stayed PG throughout.

I really had high hopes since I read it's comedy and the cover is all giddy, but I didn't feel this story to well.
Violet and Sam meets when Violet accuses Sam of stealing her dog (dalmatian). She didn't even think that Sam could have dalmatian too.
This is the story of enemies to lovers, full of fighting and angry scenes. But soon they feel chemistry and fall in love with each other.
Story is happening in small town, where everyone knows everything.

It was cute and simple story, but it didn't have my reading style. Like I said, I didn't feel it to well.

This is my second book by Teri Wilson and I am becoming a fan of her romances. A Spot of Trouble had all the makings of a great romcom. I loved the small town feel where everyone really does know your business. I loved the back and forth banter between Violet and Sam, it was fun to read them rubbing each other up the wrong way and I loved the addition of Sprinkles and Cinder, two mischievous Dalmatians with their own unique characters.

All the extra details added to the story and created a richer experience; from the sweet cupcakes to the softball tournament and community bingo, they all added to the shenanigans.

A Spot of Trouble was a fun, sweet romance with minimal angst. The spotty dogs added a cute element and I enjoyed escaping with this lighthearted read.

"The one she'd thought had been stealing her dog, when in fact, he'd come to steal her heart."

Teri Wilson has become one of my go to authors for feel good romcoms. This book is an adorable "enemies" to lovers that involves adorable pups, hilarious seniors from a nursing home, a super hot fireman and really charming town. I would definitely label it a clean romance with tons of chemistry and flirting between Sam and Violet. Loved it!

This was such a cute read! Terri is a new author for me but I can’t wait to see what she does next, the book definitely had Hallmark vibes which I love. I’d recommend to anyone that loves romance and dogs because this book was it!

Cute story that is very heavily centered around dogs, so I think this is a dog lovers only book for sure. I am a cat lady so I found some of the dog stuff got very repetitive and took away from the romance more than giving the comedic relief I think it was meant for. I also thought the relationship was more slow burn than it needed to be, that they were "hating" each other more just to add pages to a story rather than it felt organic to the characters.

I enjoyed this sweet, small town vibe. I don't always love Hallmark romance vibes but Teri has a way of telling an engaging/light story that is just good writing - I make an exception for her romances. I think if I was a bigger fan of small town romances and/or a lover of dogs, I would have really been a big fan of this book.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for my copy of A Spot of Trouble in exchange for my honest review.

I have read several of Teri Wilson's book and A Spot of Trouble was just as good as I hoped it would be.

Here are some highlights:
- enemies-to-lovers
- small town romance
- two adorable dogs that will make you want a dalmation of your own!
- a hot fireman with a unresolved issues
- a vivacious leading lady with her own heartbrake and trust issues (and she makes a mean cupcake!)
- a trio of meddlesome older woman from the nursing home
- a strong town rilvary between the Fireman and Police when it comes to baseball

This was a sweet romance that checked all the boxes for me! It was a clean romance, but you could still feel the chemistry and sparks between Violet and Sam. It started off strong with the meet-cute, and the banter was great!

3.5 stars

A Spot of Trouble could have easily been a five star read for me...if not for the heroine making me actively angry from the very first scene in the book.

This book has a lot to recommend it: charming setting, fantastic side characters, and just scores of hilarious interactions as our main couple stumbles their way into love. I can tell why Teri Wilson is such a beloved romance author - she has such a clear understanding of what makes a good romance and how to bring her readers along for the ride.

However....

The first scene - and our heroine, Violet - almost ruined the entire book for me. Violet, after seeing a man walking a Dalmatian on the dog beach, assumes that he must have stolen her own dog since Sprinkles is the only Dalmatian in town. Instead of letting him explain, she gleefully calls the police (who just so happen to be her brothers and father) on him while her inner monologue indicates that she is going to film his arrest and post it on social media.

Reading about how superior she feels, knowing that the police are going to take her side, felt so freaking privileged and I could not believe that it was being played off as cute I couldn't stop thinking about the "Central Park Karen" incident from last year where a white woman called the police on a black man who had asked that she put her dog on its leash, knowing full well that they would take her side because her skin put her in a position of power. I just could not get that image out of my mind and the incident just set me up to see Violet's overly quirky characterization, which I might have forgiven in a book that didn't contain this first scene, in an extremely negative light.

While the rest of the book was great, it never managed to reclaim my enjoyment completely after that first scene. I can only hope that reading another one of Wilson's works will wash away the bad taste in my mouth.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review!

The cover of this was super cute, so I requested it. The story? Not as cute. This felt super unrealistic and super cheesy.

Here is the whole plot (SPOILER ALERT): Violet and Sam have matching Dalmatians. Violet is the daughter of the police chief, and Sam is the new fire Marshall. They can’t be together because they’re on opposite sides of a softball tournament called Guns & Hoses (I do like this name.) Their Dalmatians get switched, and they end up in parent trap situation. (I mean I just can’t suspend reality enough to believe you can take the wrong dog home and not realize it.) They switch the Dalmatians back. They fall in love so fast. The end.

I feel like this the type of books that give the romance genre a bad name - and not because it was trashy. This is PG. I love romance and HEA, but I also want them to feel believable. This was pure Hallmark movie, and it didn’t work for me.

Thanks to @NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for my ARC!

A breezy, all fluff, no drama rom-com with so much catnip. Gaggles of meddling senior citizens, heroic but sensitive first responders, cupcakes, trouble making dogs and the beach. Check check check.
