Book Review:
When I heard about Terri Wilson's retelling of 101 Dalmatians, I was instantly intrigued by the unique concept. I'm happy to report that I loved A Spot of Trouble! This book combines all the of the best parts of a romantic comedy (a chaotic meet cute, fantastic chemistry, an adorable setting) with two quirky Dalmatians and creates a fun story, perfect for contemporary romance fans. The dynamic between Sam Nash, a grumpy firefighter, and Violet March, a yoga loving cupcake baker, is delightful and the meddling octogenarians peppered throughout the story made me grin. I loved the setting and hope to see more books set in the quaint town of Turtle Beach, North Carolina soon.

If you are looking for a cheesy, humorous, romantic, and dog loving book then this book is for you. It would be perfect for a beach read or a day at the pool. It was such a quick read and it definitely was cheesy and predictable but sometimes that’s just what you need.

This was a fun little romp read. It was cutsy and the epitome of an escapism read (light and happy). The two dogs were adorable and I loved all the 101 Dalmatian nods.

This is a quick and fun, if slightly predictable, rom-com.
The story itself is silly and fun in a small town. It has all the elements that I love in a rom-com mixed in for maximum open book/turn of brain enjoyment.
I liked how Wilson gave Sam more depth with his trauma and Violet a family secret to solve, but the end seemed to have caught her in surprise because the resolution to both those things wasn't really a resolution at all and a bit of a letdown after all the careful planning that seemed to have gone to the rest of the book.
Overall, it's a fun book to pass the time with.

Happy thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the fun read!

Calling all Disney lovers out there, this adorable Roger and Anita inspired love story is perfect for you!

This was a delightful, quick read following two Dalmatian owners who, after getting off on the wrong foot, decide that the small town of Turtle Beach isn’t big enough for two spotted pups.

I loved reading this but some parts really annoyed me such as our main character. Violet’s character was so annoying. She’s 28 but she reads like a 14 year old at times and I’m all for bubbly, whimsical characters but Violet was just too much. As for Sam, I love him. He’s so charming and while the whole thing was very instalovey, I enjoyed reading about him falling head over heels in love.

And then the dogs! Sprinkles and Cinder are the cutest! Everything about them made me smile. I love that they’re complete opposite in every way, their personalities made this so enjoyable. Just the best of dogs.

This book was incredibly predictable and repetitive and relied on way too many standard romcom tropes but it was still really fun and we need more 101 Dalmatians inspired books to be published. Definitely recommend!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

A Spot of Trouble by Teri Wilson was a quirky and sweet rom com with lots of laugh out moments. I got such huge 101 Dalmatians vibes from the cover and dogs were the highlight of the book.

We meet Sam and Violet when they’re fighting about who owns the dog he is with, of course Violet, the daughter of the police chief, thinks he’s trying to dognap her Sprinkles, the only dalmatian in town! But not anymore as Sam and his dog Cinder walks in, he’s the new fire marshal and he just jumped right in the middle of the softball tournament (firefighters vs cops), which is one of the Turtle Beach’s tradition and the most fun thing in the book along with Violet’s friends, the ones who tries to match them together.

One of the few things that bothered me in this book is how childish Violet can be, she’s a 28 year old woman who doesn’t act like one and that really started wearing thin for me. Sam is my favorite character in the book and I love his relationship with Cinder. It was a short quick read but it kind of felt like their relationship and interactions were rushed and didn't have enough time to develop their feelings. But overall I enjoyed it, cute read. It is my first time reading a book by Teri Wilson and I definitely recommend this one to those who wants something fun and quick, you’re probably gonna love it!

Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for this ARC!

This book ended up being a bit dissapointing to me. I mean, the main reason I checked this out were the dalmations and they were definetely the best part of this book as they were amazingly cute. But after all the main part of this book is the romance and that just didn't really deliver for me. I feel like this book was a bit insta-lovey and the switch from them "hating" each other to being in love was just a bit too abrupt in my opinion. It's not like these characters had 0 chemistry because there were some scenes between them that were really cute but I just didn't exactly buy it all as much as I need from a romance novel. Maybe the main reason for that was because I never really understood why they were rivals. I mean, there is the police and firefighters rivelary in this small town which is the main reason why the two main characters "hate" each other. But the whole riveraly between the two departments just never really made much sense to me, especially when we get the actual reason behind the riveraly at the end of the book. The reason was WAY too ridiculous and unbelievable in my opinion. So yeah, this book had its moments but overall I just wasn't as invested in this as I should be.

⭐️📖 BOOK REVIEW ⭐️📖

Book: A Spot of Trouble
Author: Teri Wilson
Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5)
Publication Date: 7th of September ‘21

A Spot of Trouble is a cute romantic comedy about a love/hate relationship between the new fire marshal in town Sam and the cute cupcake truck owner Violet who both happen to own extremely cute Dalmatians Sprinkles and Cinders. Throw a rivalry soft ball tournament and some meddling elderly women into the mix and you’re in for a rollercoaster of a ride.

The story is overall pretty predictable, I did spot the twist quite quickly but that didn’t stop me from really enjoying it. It was a lighthearted, extremely easy read which for me is always a winner!!

If you love dogs, cute romances and love/hate relationships then this novel is definitely for you!!

I got such huge 101 Dalmatians vibes from the cover and the read as well. Violet and Sam are absolutely incredible together and I can't wait to read more works of this author!

A Spot of Trouble by Teri Wilson was a quirky and sweet rom com with lots of laugh out moments, small town beauty and some adorable chemistry. And let's not forget two cute dogs with colourful personalities! It was full of simple feels, bright characters and was overall a good time for me!

Sam Nash's first day in his new life in Turtle Beach as town's new fire marshal started with town's sweetheart Violet accusing him of stealing her dalmatian Sprinkles. But it's because he has his own dalmatian and service companion Cinder. Now they become a part of age old feud aka town's traditional softball tournament between the police department and the fire department. They are enemies but accidents keep on putting them and their dogs in each other's paths.

So this story is very simple and set in a simple town with genuine caring people. So if you are looking for complex situations or very serious feels...this is not for you. Violet is a very sweet and soft person with a big heart but she has been hurt in love and that contributes to her animosity towards Sam. Sam has left Chicago after losing parts of himself and this town was his plan to lay low and heal himself. He likes structure and routine. He is serious and brooding. And Violet's reckless and spontaneous life kind of throws him off but soon he realises that Violet is making him feel alive after a long time. Violet feels lost for not having her mother even after her family and the town cares for her deeply. And Sam made her feel swoony and loved in an understated way. They have a good chemistry and my heart was so blissfully happy for them. They tried to one up each other constantly and in the process fall for each other. And those parts were so hilarious including all the tiny details..the senior citizen centres and their funny attempts at matchmaking, the silly tension between two departments..I loved spending some heartwarming times with them!

A Spot of Trouble by Teri Wilson was all about sweetest emotions and adorable characters!

I was hooked on this book from the first chapter!!

Turtle Bay was a one Dalmatian town and everyone knew it. The town loved Sprinkles just as much as they loved her owner, Violet. Sprinkles and Violet were both vibrant, fun and unpredictable. It’s what made them both lovable, and part of the reason Violet was known as the town sweetheart. When Sam, the new fire marshal, moved to Turtle Bay with his Dalmatian, Cinder, the town had no idea what they were in for. Could the town handle two Dalmatians and their feuding owners?

Sam and Violet were enemies from the start. A case of mistaken Dalmatian identity fueled it all. The antics between the dog owners ensued and their feelings slowly migrated from enemy territory to frenemy territory to something neither of them say coming.

This book was funny and lovable. Sam and Violet’s banter was dripping with attraction and sexual tension and I absolutely loved it. I also really enjoyed each and every side character. They all added to the dynamic of the storyline in their own way.

The only disappointing aspect of the book was the ending. It wasn’t terrible, but I was left wanting a little bit more. I felt that it was wrapped up a little too quickly considering all the building tension and emotion. I needed just a smidge more for it to really feel complete for me.

This was a cute premise and anything with dogs as main characters automatically makes me like it a little more. It was a cute story, light and fluffy and easy to read. I could definitely see this one as a Hallmark movie.

The premise of this one is so cute, and I can’t resist a romance with animals as secondary characters. The small coastal town of Turtle Beach has only one Dalmatian resident. Sprinkles is a silly mischievous dog but beloved by residents and tourists alike. As is her owner, Violet March, daughter to Turtle Beach's police chief. But when the fire station brings a new fire marshal to town, his working dog, Cinder, changes the Dalmatian demographics in town. And Sprinkles and Cinder look identical.

Turtle Beach is one of those fictitious small towns that charms and delights the reader with its inviting setting and quirky secondary characters. I love Violet's three geriatric lady friends and the mostly good-natured rivalry between the police and fire fighters. It all comes down to the annual softball tournament between the two rivals, and Sam's college baseball stardom will come in handy for this year's tournament.

A light-hearted, low-angst rom-com is the perfect reading escape for me. Aside from too much character introspection that slowed the story down for me at times, I love Violet and Sam's journey to forever. The senior lady's shenanigans and meddling added extra spark, as did the canine antics and mishaps, making this a fun, entertaining read.

This one didn't work for me at all. I struggled to keep reading it, I almost didn't finish it but I kept thinking we'd get to the part where you know the couple actually dates, has long meaningful conversations, discovers everything about each other, and then falls in love. Nope, we got a misunderstanding, ridiculous childish behavior, two less than 10 minute conversations, and BOOM they're in love. Look, it was a cute premise and it could have been crafted into a really interesting story instead it was uninspiring. Two stars, one for the dogs and one for the granny gang. The main characters were uninsipiring, insipid, and bordering on stupid.

I had no idea until I read the author’s note that A Spot Of Trouble is actually a loose retelling of the Disney classic 101 Dalmatians. I just saw that adorable cover and that it’s written by Teri Wilson, whose books I enjoy, and I knew I had to read it. Having this turn out to be a fresh take on one of my favorite Disney films just made it all the more appealing to me.

You guys, this one is so cute and so funny! Here’s a quick run down of the highlights. It has a smalltown setting with a very close knit community, the kind where everyone knows everyone else’s business. There’s also a major rivalry between the local firefighters and police officers, which comes to a head every year during the Guns and Hoses baseball tournament. There’s also a mischievous trio of old ladies who fancy themselves matchmakers and call themselves Charlie’s Angels. Last but not least, the stars of the story are Violet Marsh, a bubbly cupcake baker/yoga instructor who owns an out-of-control goofy dalmatian named Sprinkles, and Sam Nash, a grumpy firefighter who is new to town and who also owns a dalmatian, Cinder, who has been trained to near perfection. Add all of these ingredients together and it’s a recipe for nonstop laughs!

The sparks flew between Violet and Sam from their very first meeting when Violet accuses Sam of dognapping Sprinkles and sends the police after him. As the daughter of the police chief, she is firmly on the Guns side of the Guns and Hoses rivalry and declares Sam her nemesis even though the two of them are clearly attracted to each other. Hilarity ensues when the “Charlie’s Angels” also see the attraction and start hatching various zany plans to try to force Violet and Sam together. I loved seeing what these ladies would come up with and how well their plans really did work in terms of making Violet and Sam look past the silly rivalry and really see one another and how good they could be for each other.

I don’t want to give anything else away, but if you’re in the mood for a fun read that delivers laugh after laugh and that features an opposites-attract romance, and of course two adorable dalmatians, A Spot of Trouble should be on your reading list.

If you love dogs and you're looking for a fun read, this book is for you. The story is predictable, but that's not a bad thing, especially when things are as crazy in the world as they are right now - I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with these characters. I especially appreciated the attention paid to the supporting characters who help bring the town to life!

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review.
This book just wasn’t it for me…appreciate that it’s lighthearted and quirky, especially given how muddled the definition of “rom-com” has become. However, the book did not deliver on what seemed like a cute premise.

Let’s start with the heroine, Violet. I’m patient with heroines for the most part, but she seemed very childlike in her behavior, not to mention the way others around her infantilize her. I’m not the most competent person around and even I have my immature moments, but even I found this characterization a bit much.

Sam is…all right? He’s generally more sensible, so to call this a “grumpy/sunshine” pairing misunderstands dynamic, and I’m not even a fan of that half the time. But the way he eventually began to find Violet endearing, as if it was an issue of him loosening up and not her having to grow up…

I did like the dogs though, and the loose inspiration it takes from 101 Dalmatians. I loved Sam’s relationship with his dog, Cinder. And while the puppy swapping plot is a bit out there, I didn’t mind it as much as some of the other elements.

This book didn’t work for me, but that’s not to say it won’t work for someone else. If you like silly, out there romcoms with overly quirky characters, you might enjoy this more than I did.

A super fun, cute, and quick read. When it first started, I was a little nervous it was going to be kitschy or silly. But that fear disappeared pretty quickly. I absolutely adored the cast of side characters. They made this book for me. It was definitely not a serious read but I really enjoyed it. A perfect summer romcom.
