This is a light fun read with ‘puppy love’. Set in a small town with the classic cops vs firefighter rivalry. Violet, Sam, and their fur babies Sparkles and Cinder will warm your heart. Their original dislike for each other fuels the enemies-to-lovers plot.

Their dogs end up getting switch, being a dog owner, I don't see how one wouldn't notice it since i'm sure their behaviors are vastly different, that being said...it was amusing.

Violet did tend to get a bit annoying more often than not and the ending felt rushed and didn’t have a lot of redeeming qualities.

2.5/3

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A romantic comedy book filled with adorable Dalmatians, a small town rivalry between cops and firefighters, and some meddling elderly women.

While the overall plot and storyline was nice it was still super predictable but nonetheless enjoyable. There were also some really great tropes used including, opposite attracts, grumpy-sunshine, and enemies to lovers.

The main character, Violet March unfortunately was not my favorite. Her behavior and actions just wasn’t the best and came off as annoying. On the other hand, Sam Nash who was the love interest was absolutely amazing. Definitely liked his attitude and character more. Their overall relationship wasn’t as developed as I would have liked as it seemed more of an insta-love situation.

I did really enjoy all the side characters, especially the Charlie’s Angels. Thought they were hilarious and all their meddling was perfect. The ending did wrap up pretty quickly and felt somewhat rushed. However, it was still a cute conclusion.

Overall, just a light fun read with a cute romance between rivals and some puppy love.

The cover caught my attention. Who doesn't want to read a book about two Dalmatians, a fireman and a cupcake baker in a small seaside town? Violet March has grown up in small Turtle Beach, NC. A town where everyone knows your business. Sam Nash is the new fire marshal having left his job as a fireman in Chicago. Of course they each have a beloved Dalmatian.

This is a sweet, cute and at times cheesy romance. The characters are nice but without a lot of depth. There are some funny moments and a couple things that make your eyes roll. Most dog lovers are going to recognize their own dog by more than their collar. But if you want a quick, fluffy, wholesome romance with no angst, this will fit the bill. Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book!! The synopsis really intrigued me and I loved how the premise was really delivered as I was reading!

The enemies to lovers, opposites attract romance between Violet and Sam had my heart! I loved how their genuine dislike for each other fueled their heated arguments and that they were sabotaging each other! It was so fun and hilarious to read especially as they progressed to friends then to lovers. The dog lover in me had the best time reading this given how adorable Sparkles and Cinder were! I loved how I really got to see the couple’s differences not only in themselves but also in their dogs’ personalities.

Other things I enjoyed were Violet’s baking and the adorable names she comes up for her flavors! Also, Sam and Cinder’s demonstrations! As well as their friendship with the Charlie’s Angels and the other members of the community. The small town setting was so cute! Lastly, the baseball season feud between the fire department and police department was an entertaining subplot.

Overall, this was such a light, fluffy and fast-paced read reminiscent of my one of my fave childhood movies, 101 Dalmations! I highly recommend this to romcom lovers and dog lovers alike!

This was a cute little story but I guess it didn't hit the mark with me. But I feel like it's nothing to do with the story or the author's writing style because that her writingstyle was very easy and flowing, I just wasn't a big fan of the charachters, especially Violet. I didn't like her childish behaviour and lack of patience. How she always jumped to conclusions without giving the other person the chance to explain things. I guess it was just hard to read the story of a person you can't stand. But I feel like other people would really enjoy it. Again, nothing bad about the book itself, just didn't like the characters.

This was a nice, fluffy light read. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and wish I could have had more of them together before they felt they were in love. It seemed like they didn’t spend any significant amount of time together. Some of the descriptions were funny- he has eyes like “corked glass” and she has eyes like “sea glass” and “mermaid hair” (the main character mentions it several times. Also, after one criticism from Violet, I don’t understand why Sam suddenly feels the need to “untrain” his dog. He seems too smart for that, although I know it leads to other plot points later in the story. One last thing that made me roll my eyes was the two main characters referred to as “you crazy kids” towards the end. It doesn’t get more trite than that. Despite those minor things, I still had fun reading this book and would check out other books written by this author.

A lovely and light hearted romantic story with a cute meet and sweet canine friends too. I spent the entire book wanting to conspire with the main characters friends and family to push them together but we all know true romance takes a few bumps and stumbles before the main characters make it to the end in love. Very cute!

This was a sweet book, and an easy summer read. I did find the characters a bit one-dimensional and overly dramatic. I found them a bit difficult to relate to, and didn’t love that liking baseball and owning a Dalmatian we’re the hallmarks of their personalities. Nonetheless, it was cute and quick to finish, and I would recommend as a beach read!

Honestly, I had to force myself to finish A Spot of Trouble.
I love a good series and was hopeful when I learned that this was the first in a new series by this local-to-me author, but the silly and insipid storyline just didn't do it for me.

I was hoping to really like this one as the cover is adorable. Who doesn’t love animals on a book cover? The unfortunate part is that this book didn’t have a lot of redeeming qualities besides that cover.

From the beginning we are introduced to both Violet and Sam. It’s a very awkward and public encounter that brings in the police. I’m not going to lie, I never liked Violet. She was rude, stubborn, and just was overly dramatic. I really couldn’t stand her even after I was halfway through the book. As for Sam, he was okay. There wasn’t anything that stuck out about him besides how dumb he was at one point but that will be mentioned in the spoilers.

Since this is supposed to be a romance I figured their bantering and bickering would die down so that there could be development but even by 50% there wasn’t anything happening besides a kiss here and there. Even after that they went back to the bickering. There wasn’t ever any solid development when it came to their relationship. It was rushed and it was overall just not one that I liked reading about.

Spoilers / Spoilers / Spoilers
One plot twist that involved Sam and Violet was their dogs were switched. How do you not realize it when they have different personalities? It took them a week and a half to figure it out. They both love their dogs so much and literally the book is filled with the dogs and how the town has only had one Dalmatian forever and even if they are similar looking I just don’t believe that this would happen.

End of Spoilers
The book is filled with the dogs and most of the time I would be okay with this but it just became repetitive especially at the beginning with everyone believing Sam had kidnapped the dog. The town was just weird with their antics when it came to everything.

Overall, this wasn’t for me. I can’t say I enjoyed anything about it which is a real shame.

Fans of a good beachy, summertime rom-com read and dogs unite! This heart-warming novel about a petty feud between Turtle Beach’s illustrious Violet March and newcomer fire marshal Sam Nash gave me “all the feels”. What started out as a rom-com like any other took on a fresh and fun twist with the addition of the nemesis’ two Dalmatians, Sprinkles and Cinder, who though night and day different took to one another just as our main characters did. I devoured this book in 3 days and loved it. The mark of a good book is one where you can picture the characters in your mind, and form a vested interest in the outcome of their story. This book had me doing just that. A must-read!
