I just loved book one- Whiteout like top book of the year loved. This one is way more mystery/thriller than romance. The romance takes a major back seat. Leo we meet before with her team in book one, but in this book she just proves how badass she truly is. Elias we learn has so much backstory but from the moment we meet him, you want him..or at least I did :). We do get some steam much later on- we earned it when it comes that for sure.

This will maybe make you want to go to Alaska or leave enjoy it from afar in a plane or helicopter not so much running for your life. I can't wait for more of this series and whatever happens to this bloody virus.

Yes! Yes! Yes! This book had everything I wanted in my romantic suspense. Action. Suspense. Sexy hero. Kick-butt heroine. A loyal dog. I loved every second of this fun book. It jumped right into the action from the start. Even the villain was interesting. I thought this book was deep, exciting and very well written. I was hooked from start to finish. I highly recommend this series and can not wait for more.

Uncharted by Adriana Anders is a book that I wished to slowly savor but found that difficult since I was turning the pages as fast as I could read them to see what happened next. It is definitely an action packed thriller that is balanced out with a suddenly thrown together romance.

I liked this tough, fearless pilot who did not even let a stomach virus or food poison stop her. She is one gutsy lady that makes for an incredible character. She is not the only one either because in her own way so is Amka. While Amka is in town doing her thing, Leo Eddowes and Elias Thorne are on the run. Running that is in the Alaskan wilderness so survival becomes a double whammy. There is no doubt who the bad guys are in this story but what is in doubt is how many casualties there will be before it is over.

I am a fan of this kind of survival thriller romance such as Kendall Talbot writes or the later novels of Linda Howard. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys those too. Now I am a fan of Adriana Anders who also brings to life the characters’ experiences so that you feel as if you are right there with them. I had not read Whiteout the first book in the series but did purchase it recently. I can’t say that reading it will enhance my enjoyment of Uncharted I can only say I want to know more and read more by this author.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Echoing other sentiments I've seen about this one — I didn't like it as much as Whiteout by comparison, but damn, Anders really knows how to write a romance between two people that simmers and manages to be as emotionally stirring as it is action-intense. She's one of the best romantic suspense authors out there and this book is testament to that. Leo and Elias' relationship felt a little more slow-burn compared to the last couple; they sort of realized their attraction to one another during their time in the Alaskan wilderness instead of being aware of it in advance the way Angel and Ford were, but it led to so many good (and hot) moments that I'm still reliving in my head.

content notes: descriptions of head injury/concussion, descriptions of bloody wounds, hero is grazed by bullet, minor character deaths, hero's parents were murdered (mentioned but not depicted)

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have been eagerly awaiting Leo's book since finishing Whiteout, and whilst I enjoyed this one, I found that it was more action and adventure, than romance, I have no issue with A&A being a large part of a romance story, but this one felt like the romance was added because it was expected to be a part of the story, Rather than it actually fitting the characters. Their chemistry didn't really work, and I think it was because of the high pressure situations they found themselves in, yes the previous book was much the same on that front but the H/h had been around each other for some time by the point they were actually forced into close proximity with each other.

Not 100% a winner, but I enjoy the authors writing and she absolutely keeps you on the edge of your seat with the action!

A pulse pounding romantic thrill ride!
This was, to put it simply, amazing. I haven’t read a romantic suspense that was so absorbing in a long time. The story grabs the reader from the beginning and never lets go.
The Alaska setting creates an ominous atmosphere. The writing is spectacular and the plot is very interesting. The couple was enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a book to get you out of a book slump, definitely recommend this one!

Whiteout was one of my favorite reads of 2020, so of course I was excited to see what crazy wilderness shenanigans would happen this time. While different in several ways, this book still scratches that same itch for me.

It’s some kind of luck for Leo to get a tip about the scientist her team has been searching for the same day she’s out sick with a stomach bug – and even worse luck that a hostile corporate extraction team is right behind her. And then she’s shot down shortly before she reaches his location. Luckily, she’s rescued by Elias, a man who’s spent the past decade living in the Alaskan wilderness and knows the area like the back of his hand. Leo’s not sure why the bad guys are after him or why he rescued her, but they form an unlikely team fleeing through the wilderness to reach the nearest town. Injured and pursued, Leo has nothing to show for it, because Elias isn’t the man she’s looking for. Or is he?

“Never, can’t, won’t. I don’t believe in those words.[…] Even metal melts if you get it hot enough.”

Leo’s the type of person to be constantly on the move, ready to tackle whatever comes her way. And as a Black female elite pilot, it’s a trait that’s served her well. While she’s not military any longer, she feels a strong kinship with her fellow team and is similarly driven to find the virus that the Chronos Corporation desperately wants for nefarious purposes. Elias is a wrench in those plans, much in the same way she is for him. Elias has spent years living mostly by himself, with only his dog Bo for company. There’s a good reason for him to be hiding in the woods, and he’s wary of how Leo is tangled up in it. Like Leo, he’s extremely good at what he does, and that’s keeping himself alive in the wilderness. Both characters are just incredibly competent, and I loved seeing that.

“There wasn’t time for this now—thinking about how this person who’d been sent to him—who’d literally fallen from the sky—made him strong in a way he’d never felt. Together, he thought, letting his mind take an uncharacteristically fanciful spin, they were more than the sum of their parts.”

While I liked the individual characters, I think the romance didn’t work as well. In the first book, while the main characters weren’t close, they at least knew each other. In this one, the characters meet for the first time when the heroine’s concussed after a plane crash (oh, and suffering from some sort of stomach virus). They’re on the run almost immediately from that point onwards, so the whole “getting to know you” bit is secondary to the “running for our lives” plot. The individual character development was fine – after all, we get to see inside each character’s head – but it takes a while for them to even start trusting each other, let alone falling in love. What I really liked about the romance, though, is how it’s built on respect. Leo’s impressed by how prepared Elias is for nearly every eventuality, and how good he is at navigating and surviving in the wilderness. Elias is impressed by Leo’s flying (what little of it he sees before she crashes) and her spirit; she’s not one to give up, even against insurmountable odds.

The POV alternates mostly between Leo and Elias’s third-person, but also occasionally switches to one of the bad guys hunting them down. Usually I don’t care for the villain POV and quickly rush through those bits, but I actually liked the character in this case. As for other secondary characters, well, they’re escaping through the Alaskan wilderness, so there’s not really a ton of other people in the book! But without being too spoilery, I will say that I want to be Amka when I grow up! The suspense portion of the plot was excellent, if a bit on the unbelievable side – they get injured a lot and yet somehow keep on going. It was gripping, though, and I gulped down large chunks of the book at a time because I simply had to know what was going to happen next.

Overall, this was another extremely enjoyable romantic suspense, even if the romantic relationship took longer to get in place. There’s several options for who the next book might be about and I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series!

I'm a big ol' chicken and can't handle too much suspense or my anxiety shoots through the roof. I usually avoid highly suspenseful books. I made an exception for Whiteout and I'm so glad I did.

Like that book, Uncharted puts the reader in the front seat from page one as Leo, our intrepid heroine, flies out into the Alaskan wilderness to find a recluse in possession of a deadly virus before the bad guys can. What she finds instead is Elias, a gorgeous bearded monosyllabic grump, and his dog. The bad guys aren't far behind and our MCs are immediately thrust into a life or death run for their lives.

This one lived up to my expectations. It had the same breathless yet lusty fight for your life vibes of Whiteout and two leads that I rooted for. Elias was a sweet grump who was all in from almost the word go. Leo was a revelation, I expected a intransigent ball buster but the way the author peeled off her layers to show the vulnerable yet strong woman beneath was a fantastic study in character development. The slow burn was steamy enough to keep my interest going although my mind couldn't stop thinking about how they hadn't bathed or brushed their teeth in days and they were sucking face every chance they got 🥴 I also loved the villain in this one. He was no cartoony one-dimensional bad guy and I was so intrigued by him. I'm hoping he gets his own book.

In the end, I found that Whiteout is more tightly plotted and better paced. This one lost momentum somewhere around the halfway mark for me and while I loved spending more time with Leo and Elias getting all loved up, I thought the pace was lost. It picks up towards the end and I so wish I could get a look at the characters when they weren't on the run for their lives in the epilogue. But this one sets up the next book which was kind of disappointing.

This was a wild ride and if you like white-knuckling it, I think this author is unmatched in the way she builds up suspense and tension. Highly recommended

Uncharted is the second in the Survival Instincts romantic suspense series by Adriana Anders. This book is packed with intense moments. The main couple, Elias and Lou are thrown together and work to survive the unforgiving Alaskan terrain while being pursued by the enemy. Once they understand that they are both on the same side, their attraction to each other is almost immediate. They face difficulties head on and survive some unbelievable obstacles. In the mean time, Elias' elderly godmother Amka is holding her own in her small town that has been taken over by the bad guys. She is amazing and the scenes with her are some of my favorite parts of the book. Overall, I loved the action and suspense, but I wasn't really as into the romantic part of the story. It was just too insta-love for my taste although I did really like Elias and Lou as characters.

I did not read the first book in this series before reading Uncharted. While I was able to follow the story just fine, I do want to go back and read Whiteout so that I can understand more about the group that Lou belongs to and their mission which will continue in the next book of the series. I'm very interested in this series and reading more about these characters as well as finding out how they accomplish their goals.

My sincere thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give my unbiased opinion of it.

I received a copy of this book for review from NetGalley. When Leo Eddowes was told that she had to fly to a remote part of Alaska in a tiny antique plane to pick up a fugitive, she never expected that the plane getting shot down would be the least exciting part of her trip. She begins an uneasy alliance with the Yeti-like man she finds at her destination, and they go on the run from there. They have an epic adventure that includes everything from hiding from helicopters to confronting a bear, and the action is pretty close to non-stop. Leo and Elias are both smart, strong, funny, and stubborn people, and they have a fiery chemistry from the very beginning. Despite multiple injuries, they are magnetically attracted to each other, and the tension between the two is yummy.
I heartily enjoyed the first book in the series, and while you can probably skate by without reading it, I would not recommend treating this as a standalone. Leo has a minor role in the first book, but the overarching plotline extends from book to book, and you might find it slightly confusing without that background. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book, and it kept me up far later than it should have, because even with places where the characters are allowed to stop and breathe, the action is a driving force. It's fun, fast-paced, and it left me wanting more.

This is the second book in Adriana Anders' Survival Instincts series...and can I just say....WOW! What a ride! If you like exciting nonstop, page turning action this is the book for you! Leo and her team were in Alaska looking for the man they believe has the virus that was discovered in Whiteout...book one of the series. The team pulls out but due to a bout of the flu Leo must stay behind, but when asked to evacuate the man she's been searching for she doesn't hesitate. Only problem, he is not who she thinks he is. Instead he is Elias Thorne, an accused mass murderer who has been hiding in Alaska for over ten years. Leo and Elias are great together. Leo is fiesty and gives as good as she gets...even calling him yeti....she brings out the softer, protective side of Elias. But they are being hunted and are forced to escape across the dangerous and unforgiving terrain of the Alaskan wilderness.
The chemistry between Leo and Elias is electric and things get pretty steamy between them. There may be somethings that are a little unbelievable but accept them and...just sit back and enjoy!
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Uncharted is the second book in Adriana Anders’ amazing series Survival Instincts. It is a faced-paced, non-stop romantic suspense filled with fantastic characters, amazing, intense chemistry and an interesting storyline. The story takes place in the beautiful Alaskan landscape and is written in third person, primarily from the viewpoint of the heroine and hero, although viewpoints from secondary characters are also included to help with story development. This book can be read as a standalone, but reading the series in order helpers the reader develop a clearer outstanding of the overall series plot line and the characters themselves.

Stranded together in the frozen wilderness of Alaska and running from a team of paramilitary hunters, pilot Leo Eddowes and former US Marshal Elias Thorne are forced to trust and rely on each other in order to survive the harsh elements and escape and evade capture. Both have pasts that have taught them that feelings and trust have to be controlled, but as they learn to work together the partnership and bond that develops between them quickly grows. Now they just have to survive, safe their friends and stop a corrupt company from world domination. Grab a copy and find out if they succeed and live happily ever after.

I can’t wait to read Von’s and Ans stories and see what develops next in this phenomenal series.

This is a voluntary review of readers advance copy received from Netgalley.

Uncharted is Survival Instinct book 2. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next after I read Whiteout and I definitely wasn't disapointed with Uncharted. It was another amazing read that kept me on the edge of my seat. This riveting read will pull you in and keep you turning the pages until the end. I can't wait to read the next book.

Somehow I still haven't read Whiteout-although I thought I did! I am going back to read that one next because I liked this one so much! This books is set in Alaska and we get pilot Leo Eddowes and Elias Thorne's story. Leo is afraid of nothing and no one, so when she is asked to evacuate a man from the wild's of Alaska-she doesn't hesitate to go. She doesn't plan on having not only the weather turning against her but also to have a team of "hunters" coming after her and the man she was supposed to evacuate. Elias has been on the run for years, living in the most remote places. He knows a secret that someone is willing to kill over. And now they are after him and Leo, forcing him to join forces with her if they want to survive.

I really enjoyed this book! Leo is tough as nails and not afraid of anything. She is definitely harder than I was expecting but she also has a heart of gold and is willing to stand up for what she thinks is right. She is sassy and snarky and I loved her!! Elias is the strong, silent type but he is also in hiding because he was trying to do the right thing. There was so much to this book that I couldn't put it down! Not only is there a romance aspect to it but the suspense and action just kept me reading and not wanting it to end. I just really wish I had realized that I hadn't read Whiteout yet! Definitely a great read!

This book was a thrill ride from start to finish. The action started immediately and it seemed like it never let up. I'm admittedly not a big fan of romantic suspense, but in this case, I was attracted by the Alaska setting and I'm really glad I gave it a chance as I was completely swept up in the story. I also loved the two leads, Leo, the female pilot and Elias, the mountain man. They were both equally competent and smart and made a great team, although it took them awhile (and a few near death experiences) to figure out that they needed to trust each other if they were to have any hope of escaping from the bad guys chasing them. Their romance took a back seat to the action going on, but I felt there was a strong connection between them.

Uncharted is the second book of a series, and although I wasn't lost and don't feel that it's necessary to have read the first book, I did miss some back story and want to catch up. The author did a good job in dropping just enough info about the overall plot arc without bogging the story down and I'm looking forward to going back to the first book. Also, there are a couple of different characters that could be featured as a lead in the next book, so it will be interesting to see who the author focuses on next.

The day has finally come, guys. The wait for the second installment in the Survival Instincts series, Uncharted by Adriana Anders, is finally out. If you thought the first book in the series was good, then this one is off the charts. Uncharted has everything I could have hoped for and more: suspense, adrenaline, scorching chemistry, romance for days, competence porn, amazing side characters, mystery, and a lot gasp-inducing moments. Basically this is the recipe for awesomeness and Uncharted delivers on each and every one of them.

In case this introduction didn't tell you much about today's review, I adored Uncharted by Adriana Anders. Uncharted is the story of Leo, a former Navy pilot, and Elias, a man with many secrets, secrets that some people want to uncover, while others want to make sure no one ever finds out about them. They shouldn't work together, and yet they do, and it is glorious. I loved their chemistry, but what I loved more about them was that they made a good team. It's not just that they were thrust together by chance, and they had to fight to survive. To me it was also about the fact that while they didn't know each other, but they had to rely on each other in order to survive, that just adds a unique flavor to their relationship.

It also speaks volumes about Elias's character, because he didn't leave Leo in order to save himself. And I just have a weakness for men stepping up and helping a woman survive when the shit hits the fan. It's catnip for me and Elias had that in spades. Even better though was that the reverse was also true and you have Leo stepping up to help her new teammate when he needed the help. This is probably the main reason why I believed in their relationship, and why I rooted for them the entire time.

I remember reading this book and loving how there was no relief for any of the characters. Anders put these people through a lot and I loved every second of it. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time that I was reading, and I loved that. Also, no magic healing overnight happened, which is again one of the little things that many people may not care about, but I freaking loved. Basically this book had everything I could have hoped for in a romantic suspense novel.

I mentioned awesome side-characters and I have to give a shoutout to Bo, Elias's four-legged companion, and Amka, an old lady that absolutely blew my mind. I will always notice dogs in a book, so of course Bo had my full attention throughout this book. I just love dogs in books, and my heart just skipped a beat every time Bo was on the page. As for Amka, I don't want to spoil anything for you guys, so I won't say anything about her other than I loved her character.

All in all, I truly adored this book. I was on the edge of my sear the entire time I was reading this book, and much like Whiteout, there were many, many things that happened that I just didn't anticipate. I am hoping that the announcement for the third book comes out quickly, so I can just prepare my body and soul for the greatness that will be that book. In the meantime, I hope I convinced you guys to read this book, because it truly is amazing. Happy reading!

Following the stunning adventure of Whiteout, Uncharted follows a new couple through the mountains of Alaska. Technically this is a sequel but it took awhile for the connection. Ford Cooper, from Whiteout, is brothers with Eric Cooper, the leader of a security company tasked with locating the virus from another scientist. Turns out the team is following somebody else, not exactly mistaken identity because Elias has a little to do with the virus. Leo, a female pilot, is somehow tasked with getting the target safe. So off they go trekking through the wilderness for five days, multiple injuries and protein bars, while being chased. I have to admit I enjoyed Whiteout far more than Uncharted. I think it had to do with not quite understanding the link between the books and not having any idea how Elias fit in to the picture. It was an action packed adventure definitely worth the read but I read the books back to back. I received my copy through Netgalley and left this review voluntarily.

Uncharted was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and it did not disappoint!

This story is romantic suspense done right. Leo is a strong, smart heroine and Elias was a interesting hero who has been living on his own in Alaska for years. They have lots of chemistry, but there's the not so small issue of trying to survive the people chasing them. I liked the new setting and getting to see what dangers they encountered. The action and romance kept me glued to the page as I couldn't wait to see what happened next.

After loving both Whiteout and Uncharted I can't wait to read more of Adriana Anders books!

We are sorry but we will not be posting a review for this title as it was a did-not-finish (DNF). Loved the first book but couldn't get through this one.

What can I say to make you fully understand how much I believe you and the rest of the world need to read this book? Adriana Anders blows it out of the park with this second installment in her Survival Instincts series. Uncharted follows Leo's story and picks up in the time gap of the first book's (Whiteout) epilogue. Leo, an ex Navy pilot finds herself on a manhunt for who her and her team suspect has the missing vial of one of the world's deadliest viruses. But nothing is as it seems for Leo when her tip goes south and the man she is now on the run with in Alaska's most harshest terrains, turns out to be America's most wanted killer.

You guys when I tell you that this book gave me chills and had me yelling in the middle of my office like a banshee, I am not lying to you! I could not keep my composure at all with this one! The suspense, the writing, the characters--the chemistry! I honestly was enthralled the entire way through. Leo and Elias and their fury companion were so much fun and had such an interesting dynamic when they were brought together. I fell hard for this duo who through forced proximity (you gotta love mother nature for that) had to face the secrets they were holding inside, as well as both learning to depend on someone other than themselves for the first time in a long time.

But above all else, my favorite character in the entire story would have to be Amka. A firecracker in every sense of the word, we must protect her at all costs! Fiercely loyal, independent, and determined to never let her age stop her. Amka is what I aspire to be when I grow up. I absolutely adored every single scene she was in and I loved watching her in her element trying to save her town and those she loved. It was truly a wild ride watching Amka do her thing and I desperately want more of her in the series!

A survival romance to rival all survival romances, Uncharted is a scorching hot and fast paced romance that will leave you breathless as you dive deeper into the rough terrain of Alaska's wilderness. Like I said before, I highly recommend this book to everyone and anyone who wants to dive into some good romantic suspense or just wants a great adventure. Adriana Anders nails that and more with this book and I am already begging for the next one!
