I'm honestly sad that I didn't enjoy this book as much as I was hoping to. I really liked some aspects of it, for example how Danica wanted to be free to love whoever she wanted to. I like how she allowed herself to have this experience with Titus, even though she knew her family (especially her grandma) would never approve a relationship with a mundane. I was happy for them, they shared some really sweet moments. I was just a bit annoyed at the way she treated him sometimes... and I also got a little bored with the other characters. It's not a bad book, I guess it was just not written for me.

A super-cheesy, light read that was really badly written. There are pointless subplots (one of which is just there to set up the sequel), one-note characters and a romance that went from 0 to 60 in a second and a half. This book needed more plot, less characters & less problematic treatment of them.

Unfortunately Witch Please just didn't hold my interest. It's a very cool premise, but I felt like it was dragging. DNF @ 35%

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐝: Talk about CHEMISTRY!!! Danica and Titus’s story starts off with sparkles flying, latterly. I love how different the two are but yet so similar. Danica was finally able to trust in herself and put her emotions before anyone’s. Towards the end of the book we finally got some steamy moments, however I definitely needed more in the beginning. I need more of their story!

This witchy romcom has the perfect balance of romance, angst and comedy. The constant underlying drama of each of their families and then the hunter levels fairly well with the absolutely adorable romance and the really sweet and hysterical scenes with the many many side characters.

I like the possible set up to book two following Clem and Gavin - can already tell that that one will be a wild ride.

This is definitely a good pick for if you want something to fit a “fall and Halloween are coming” vibe but you don’t want spooky. It’s a fun, bright witchy book that’s a good fit anytime of year.

Thank you to sourcebooks and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this!

I loved this book! Danica and Titus, Clementine and Maya… even Gram! Such a fun read. One of the best things about this book as that you get insight into what Danica and Titus are thinking. The writing shows each of their stories. I love when books do that and are not completely one sided. This was a great weekend read!

I don't normally pick up paranormal romances but this sounded super cute and I wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately I didn't fall in love with the characters and their story the way that I wanted to. Surprisingly, it wasn't the paranormal/witch aspect of the story that I didn't love. It was more about how the story itself played out. I feel like the awful way that Danica treated Titus at a certain point was just kind of quickly forgiven and forgotten without a lot of groveling or explanations. Titus deserved more. I also didn't really care for the idea that Danica being a witch will be kept a secret from Titus for forever more. Not really a fan of and HEA or HFN laced with lies.

I did like the world building of this book and will probably pick up the next book in the series just to see if it works better for me.

If you like steamy romances, witches, found family, and yummy baked goods, this is the story for you!

Danica is a witch trying to find a man to lock up and marry, but he has to be a witch! Titus is a virgin mundane baker, that Danica somehow falls in love with. BUT she can't...because he's not a witch. This story follows both Danica and Titus in their journeys of love telling their stories both together and apart. With problems, love, and a lot of baked goods throughout.

This was the closest thing I've ever read to a paranormal romance, and though the storyline was cute, it was sometimes hard to follow with multiple plot points popping in and out and tons of characters being added throughout the novel.. I am glad I read this, though, and it put me in the perfect mood for fall time!

I enjoyed the book but I am sad to say this book was not my favorite.

There was only one thing that surprised me in this book but other than that I found it to be predictable.

I really wanted to love it. The synopsis was so great.

Titus has anxiety and obsessive tendencies which made him unappealing to read. Danica was slightly better character but fear of reaction from her grandmother .... The characters come off desperate. The main character is straight then bi .... DNF

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to Sourcebooks for granting my wish!
I think the author did some great world building in this book. I really liked the characters and the chemistry between the main characters Danica and Titus. There were probably just a couple of times where things in the story were included that didn't need to be. It made the story a tad longer than it maybe should've been.
It'll be interesting to see what happens next with Clem and her love interest. I'm guessing there'll be more about Lucy, Goliath and Trevor maybe later on.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this story prior to its release!

I love a witchy book, especially one with romance. The title alone is why I requested it to be honest.

I enjoyed it! It was cute and fun. I loved learning about their magic system and the characters really sucked me in. Our main character, Danica was badass, stubborn, lovable and a red head! Titus, the love interest, was very sweet but I found him to be a little desperate and clingy. It was insta love for him and I don’t always love insta love tropes, unless it’s done well and I felt like this one wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, he’s precious but the fact that he was ready to marry her when he met her bothered me.

And holy fuck the steam. I thought this book was going to be innocent but NOPE. This book has some VERY steamy scenes, that can be quite vulgar at times. I was definitely not expecting that to happen. It wasn’t overwhelming, it was just the right amount but damn 🔥

My biggest issue is that parts of this book felt like they dragged on and were unnecessary to the point where I did skim some chapters at the end. I also felt like the plot line about Gram, who was fucking TERRIBLE, never got solved? It’s like Danica’s mother said she would handle it and then we never heard anything about it again.

I will definitely be picking up the second one, because I cannot wait to follow the story of Danica’s cousins Clementine, who plays a big role in this one!

I had really high hopes for this one, but I honestly did not like it that much 😫 I was hoping for something a little more spooky or witchy but it was tbh just a normal romance except she was a witch.

If you’re not a fan of slow starts, this one is not for you. It picked up about 65% of the way in, but I considered DNF a few times before then. After it picked up, though, it was a decent story, which is why I still gave it 3 stars.

I will say that the romance scenes were definitely steamy, for all my spice lovers out there!

Overall, this one was just okay to me. Not great; not horrible. Probably wouldn’t recommend, but it won’t ruin your day if you read it 🤷‍♀️

DNF. I really liked the premise but the writing did not work for me at all. It wouldn't be fair to the book if I finished reading and gave it a low rating.

After a messy breakup, Danica Waterhouse is content to focus on being a regular witch with no attachments. She even goes so far as to make a pact with her cousin to keep out of serious relationships, only have fun. This will not please her grandmother who coincidentally set her up with her ex, and who is also convinced that it's time Danica settles down with a full-blooded witch and stop messing with Mundanes, but she's tired of listening to her grandmother and cannot stand another blind date. Instead, Danica chooses to focus on Fix-It Witches, the business she co-owns with her cousin.

Then Titus - aka Cinnaman, a local bakery owner - walks into her shop needing help fixing a broken oven and it's pretty much attraction at first sight, for both of them. Danica knows that she should keep things casual, after all, Titus is a Mundane, and nothing can come from their relationship as it is forbidden to reveal yourself to a Mundane regardless of the relationship status.

Titus knows from the onset that Danica is different than anyone else he's been attracted to or dated in the past. Which is both good and terrifying as Titus hasn't had the best of luck in love. Seriously, we're talking moving to another country kind of breakups. Titus hopes that Danica is it for him, but in the back of he keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop.

This book started off fine for me. It was really a read that was, as I said, fine but worked its way up to good by the end. For me, what made it start out a bit difficult is Danica's family dynamic. Clearly, her grandmother doesn't have Danica's best interests at heart as seen by the way she constantly harangues Danica to date another witch. This extends to the dynamic between Danica and her cousin Clemintine as well. Clem does not like the fact that Danica is so attracted to Titus as it goes against the pact they made.

I just felt like these two relationships were so toxic, and although Clem is more redeemed for me by the end, I kind of hated the fact that on-page at least, no one tells either of them how awful they're being. To mean, Danica pretty much upends her life and happiness in order to avoid going against her family's beliefs. While I understand wanting to keep the peace between family members and not wanting to cause conflict. I wanted Danica to take a stand for herself which is something I didn't feel very satisfied with throughout even when Danica also acknowledges the toxicity.

Danica isn't the only one with family issues as Titus is also dealing with his father who moved on rather quickly - too quickly in Titus's mind - after the death of Titus and his sister's mother. His father has a new family that's growing and doesn't seem to care for his children's feelings.

Honestly, though I feel like Ann Aguirre was making a big statement about families and I feel like my normal reaction, anyone's normal reaction, in this situation is to be frustrated by it. So I guess I kind of have to give the author props for making me connect so emotionally with the story.

One of the things that I loved, of course, was Danica and Titus. When they're not trying to please everyone else except themselves and they have time with just them, they're a marvelous pair. Typically, I'm not a fan of the love/attraction at first sight trope, but Ann Aguirre really pulls it off well here. From the moment they meet, I wanted them together. Which I guess is a good way to keep me coming back to the story even with all the roadblocks that pop up between the two.

I also really like that witches are having a moment this season. Moving into the fall and especially Halloween I like seeing all the magical books coming out. In that regard, I really loved the mythology that Ann Aguirre has started here. I would have loved to learn more about witches in general whom the Mundane population is unaware exist. There's an interesting twist that happens about halfway through which ends up being a nice lead-in to another book (probably Clementines). I'm very interested to continue this series and hopefully, we'll get some more witchy background.

A cute and fun read filled with flirtation and witty banter. A wonderful contemporary romance with plenty of spice, chemistry and a paranormal element. Ann Aguirre has a wonderful style of writing. I was sucked into the story and romance from the beginning. I was in the mood for a feel good romance with a little bit of tension and some characters dealing with real life issues. This hit all of those spots for me. An entertaining read all around.

I had a pretty hard time with this book. It isn’t the typical Ann writing style I am used to… at all.

I feel like she was aiming for a cozy witch story but all I got from it was insta-lust to insta-love between two quirky characters that I felt had no actual chemistry.

Sure they joked around with each other in their own weird way but the connection they had I just didn’t feel.

It might be me but I didn’t enjoy all of Titus’s insecurities and being a stage 5 clinger. We see into both of their minds and Danica is having issues with her powers being possibly lost and he is worrying if she is pushing him away or “cheating” on him when they hadn’t gone out on more than 1 official date.

I did like his personality in general, he was a sweetheart, and I understand he was burned more than once but it didn’t work for me seeing his inner monologue be such a downer.

Danica was an okay character for me. I felt like she let her grandma mold her a little too much. She saw her own mother as weak where I saw her as strong, going against the fold.

This just wasn’t a win for me.

In this witchy contemporary romance, two soulmates meet over broken appliances. Danica is a witch with technological powers, and Titus is a bi baker and actual human cinnamon roll. Their banter is silly and cute and all-around adorable. In the beginning butterflies-and-hardcore-crushing phase, I enjoyed their sweet anticipation of seeing one another for each encounter. The conflict is largely external because if Danica falls for Titus, she will face a family curse that takes her magic away.

An aspect of the story with a lot of promise is the family dynamics of both characters, messy with both deep love and bruising hurts. I was intrigued early on that family issues weren't relegated to backstory or provided purely as a connection point between the two lovebirds. I loved the amount of airtime given to those stories and the way they built into the plot. Titus is struggling with how easily his father moved on to form a new family after his mother died. Danica's grandmother is emotionally manipulative and trying to force her granddaughters into magical matches.

My problems with the book stemmed from the way everything is wrapped up. The love story is a whirlwind, and I was disappointed that while open communication is a big feature of the romance (my fave), there are some giant witchy-sized secrets between them until the bitter end. I found it especially problematic given the ways that magic had secretly (and negatively) impacted the trajectory of Titus' life and will continue to do so. Furthermore, the horrors wrought by Danica's grandmother are not completely addressed. Whereas Titus' family makes progress without reaching unrealistic perfection, Danica's story just feels unfinished. I suspect that this is partly because her family's drama will continue in a sequel, but I was disappointed that we didn't see Danica get closure with the several family members who tried to pull her strings. I was especially concerned that Danica's cousin/best friend's manipulations are never addressed as problematic and childish. At least the grandmother is cast squarely as a villain even if her fate is still undecided.

I think this book has good bones in a lot of ways, but I didn't find the conclusion was worthy of those first adorable moments that drew me in. I think that readers who want a paranormal romance that feels based in the real world and that keeps things relatively light will enjoy this take on the genre. Just expect some of the conflict to be left unresolved.

This was a fun story to dive into this September! The blurb promises “Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls” and I’d say that tracks! It’s definitely in the “steamy Hallmark” category, or maybe “sweet with heat”.

Let’s break down this witchy rom-com a bit more:

Danica Waterhouse likes to think of herself as a modern witch. She’s living a fairly normal life in the midwest, and co-owns “Fix-It Witches”with her cousin. It’s a (secretly) magical repair shop. She’s recently gone through a messy breakup, and she and her cousin make a pact to stay single together. Family matriarch, Gram, is intent on finding Danica a “pure” witch to marry, believing “mundanes” (non-magical folks) aren’t good for much of anything. She’ll do whatever it takes for Danica to comply.

A few blocks away, Sugar Daddy’s bakery owner Titus Winnaker also has family trouble brewing. It’s just him and his sister running the bakery, and Titus--a bisexual virgin--has been terribly unlucky in love so far. When Titus shows up to Danica’s business to ask for help with a broken oven--it’s not long before the literal sparks are flying. (Don’t worry, you WON’T have to wait till the 80 percent mark for some steam here.)

This story worked for me on so many levels! Danica and Titus (the Cinna-man!) have amazing chemistry. They learn to let down their guards with each other, and also give each other the confidence to make necessary changes in their family dynamics. I really loved how their vulnerability with each other led to more open and honest conversations with their families and friends. The “book club” aka coven meetings are a hoot, and I’m excited to see where the series takes us next!
