A wonderful story about young boy going to school and his dog who can’t go with him. Best friends....see how they cope and make it a not so unhappy adventure.
Definitely a story I would read to preschoolers. Many have a hard time overcoming sadness and need a way to channel this sadness.
I thought the illustrations would be engaging to children. Very well done.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is the perfect story to read to children who are afraid to go to school for the first time! Warning: your child may ask you for a puppy though.

A cute story of a boy and his dog who have to spend the days apart while he's at school. I love the relationship between these best friends and how the boy overcame his sadness of missing his bud by taking things that reminded them of one another. Adorable artwork and an easy story for many little boys and girls to relate to.

What a great story about a boy and his dog! Best Buddies is a story about a boy and his dog, who have been almost inseparable since the day the boy was born. But what happens when the boy gets older and starts school? What will happen when they have to be separated for the first time ever? This story was adorable, especially since I was reading it to my four year old while our dog laid in his lap. A great story that any dog lover can connect to and any child would love. I would definitely recommend this to others and think that it would be a great addition to a children's library.

Such a cute story of a little boy who loves his dog and has a very hard time leaving for school his first day because both of them will miss each other. A boy and his best friend try to find a way to comfort each other while they are separated during the day. Bright colorful illustrations make this a wonderful book for kids of all ages. I highly recommend it. Thanks to #netgalley for the early review copy. I loved it.

Arc kindly received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This children’s picture book explores the relationship between a little boy and his dog, and how it is tested when he starts school.

This book was super sweet. The storyline was gorgeous and I really liked some of the imagery used like ‘a bus came and swallowed him up’. The illustrations were beautiful, however I wasn’t completely in love with the font style.

Overall an adorable book that would be great to use with a child struggling with a transition or separation anxiety.

4/5

This book attractively conveys both the narrative and the issue of feeling bereft of your best friend, as a dog's loyal human starts to go to school. It's actually from the point of view of both characters, for they're as alike as a pair of gloves, and this is the first time they've been apart. The way they gain their happy ending may not be universally possible, but this is why I say there's the story here as well as the book that's guiding us through the real-life problem. Great art makes this is a very pleasant browse.
