While the cover and title of this book are lovely, the book moved slowly for me and the storyline, not original. I wanted to like this book and the first few chapters, I thought I would but the pace never changed for me and I couldn't stay interested enough to even finish it. Sorry.

Before you begin reading The Lights of Sugarberry Cove, settle into your front porch rocking chair and pour yourself a glass of sweet tea.
Author Heather Webber weaves a family saga surrounding the Scott women. Sadie Way and her sister Leala Clare are called back to their Sugarberry Cove, Alabama's family Bed and Breakfast when their feisty mama Susannah suddenly takes ill.
It happens to coincide with the annual water lantern festival where their lake seems to hold some supernatural ability that everyone swears has influenced their lives. Can the Lady of the Lake work her magic once more and not only heal their mama, but heal past relationships including Leala's marriage, Sadie's long lost love, the B-n-B's neglect, and other friends and family members we meet along the way?
I particularly enjoyed how Webber makes no apologies by leaning into the novel's magical realism. This is something that sets a book apart for me. I'm always taken in by straight-forward fiction being interwoven with just a soupçon of magic.
This is a fun fling of a novel and I gave it 4 stars....
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

At the start of the book, I wasn't sure it was for me. I am glad I persevered, as I became more enlightened with the place and the characters, I wanted to know more, but the twist at the end was well worth the read, Unexpected and emotional. A well thought out sequence of events. Congratulations to the author Heather Webber.

The Lights of Sugarberry Cove is the third book I’ve read by author Heather Webber. The first two being, Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe and South of the Buttonwood Tree. What I think I enjoy the most from reading these books is that they all have a touch of magical realism to them. This story tells about Sadie Way Scott who 8 years ago drowns in the lake but is brought back to life. It is thought that it’s due to the lake magic and that the Lady of the Lake who the town residents have named Lake Laurel was the one that brought her back. The story goes on to tell about Sadies family, her sister Leila Clare, her mother who owns a B & B right on the lake and who also suffers heart problems. It’s a wonderful story of family, finding forgiveness, reigniting lost love and finding your way back home. There’s a really special part towards the end that involved Uncle Camp’s passing that really got to me emotionally. I loved this part of the storyline and I think all readers will be as surprised at this as I was. It really completed the story and it was like wrapping it up and putting a bow on top! Great job Heather Webber, I think your stories just keep getting better and better! I’d like to thank Macmillan-Tor/Forge for accepting my request and NetGalley for the arc to read, review and enjoy. I give this a 5 star rating.

Sugarberry Cove just sounds like a magical place, doesn't it?

Well, for Sadie it's where she nearly dies, so she runs as far away as she can until she gets a call several years later that her mom is dying. Terrible news, but this is where the fun really begins.

We get to meet so many fun, quirky characters, like with every other Webber book, and I was sad when my visit to this lovely town was through. 4 gold stars 😻👍👏

Thanks netgalley for giving me the pdf so that I can share my thoughts and opinions with y'all 🧡

How many of us have left home and avoided ever returning? That’s exactly what Sadie Way Scott did right after she died and was brought back to life. She couldn’t find anywhere else she wanted to be than Sugarberry Cove, but yet she couldn’t face home. That is until her Mother had a heart attack and she went home to help her sister care for their Mother.

Maybe it was being home and answering the call of Sugarberry Cove, maybe it was spending time with family and friends, or maybe, just maybe, it was facing the lake she drowned in and figuring out why she was alive. Either way, Sadie has some serious thinking to do and the family has some healing to do. Will love heal this time?

I’ve been a fan of Heather Webber’s for a long time. I really enjoyed her cozy mystery series and I love her novels as well. She is a gifted and talented writer that speaks to the heart and makes the characters real. I truly enjoyed this one and look forward to more from the author.

I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really love this type of book! It has southern charm and a little bit of magic to make the story so sweet and leave you with a good feeling! This is the third book I have read by this author and I have no problem reading and rereading and letting everyone know how good these books are!

Sadie, Leala Clare, and their mother have a lot to get through to become a family again after the events 8 years ago. It takes work, especially with the heart issues and the problems with the bed and breakfast that their mother has run all those years since their father passed. Things must be set right, and with a little bit of help from the Lady of the Lake and a wish or two, that might happen. I do wish A Southern Hankerin' were a real video series, as well as Sugarberry Cove with its special lake!

This is a sweet and lovable book and I will always buy any books that Heather Webber may write! Highly recommended!

If you're an Alice Hoffman fan then you are in for a treat. Heather Webber's Sugarberry Cove magically creates the same mystical backdrop for a family at odds with one another. When Sadie Way Scott almost drowned she left her mum and her sister, Leala Clare behind and carved a life on the road for herself as a successful YouTube presenter of a foodie show (which is beyond cute). Mystery still surrounds Sadie, she was at the bottom of Sugarberry Cove's lake for almost 15 minutes, during the annual light festival when everyone sets sails a light and a wish. How did Sadie survive and why did she leave town for 8 years? did someone's wish cause her to almost drown? When she returns home after her mum has suffered a heart attack, her life and that of everyone in the family is about to change forever. This was such a clever, mystical and delightful read. I fell in love with all of the characters in the charming family B&B (and did not see the plot twist coming. Magical :)

Such a precious mystical story of love!!!! Romantic love, sisterly love - family love!! The lady of the Lake grants "wishes" or so they say. After a near drowning 8 years ago, Sadie is adrift. Traveling from town to town making videos and telling the stories behind recipes, Sadie hasn't yet dealt with all the fall out of the night that she cheated death. After a health emergency, Sadie rushes home to be there for her family and then the magic really begins!!! Okay - I LOVED this book!!! Light touches of magic infused throughout the story weave together a tale of hope love and healing!! A terrific new to me author who I just followed on Goodreads, because I don't want to miss anything Ms. Webber puts out. Thank you so much to Netgalley for this fabulous ARC in exchange for an honest review <3

Sadie goes home to Sugarberry Cove after an absence of eight years. Her mother has had a heart attack, her sister is going through marital issues, and their already tumultuous relationships are turned on their heads. Can they come together, heal old wounds, and find a way forward together?

I loved the characters, they reminded me of my own sister and I and their relationship mirrored ours in many ways. I think that immediately made me connect to the story. The setting was perfect, a little lakeside town filled with colorful characters and a touchy connection to a past Sadie wasn’t quite ready to reconnect with. There were twists and turns in the story that make you feel like you’re right next to the characters on that roller coaster.

This was a must read for people who love a good “summer at the lake” book. I definitely look forward to checking out the author’s other books.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

Heather Webber has done it again with The Lights of Sugarberry Cove! Almost drowning in the lake 8 years
prior Sadie returns home to Sugarberry Cove when her mother has a heart attack. Family drama, friendship,
forgiveness & love! In the past this wasn't my usual genre but after discovering Ms. Webber's earlier novels
I've been hooked. Her writing is magical and I find myself trying to find what town the story could have
been based on because I want to visit! Couldn't put it down!!

This is a fun story that deals with family, healing and love. It makes me want to move to Sugerberry Cove.

Sweet story. It was a little syrupy for my tastes—with lots of clichés. It moved slow, with repetitive details and dialogue. But the family dynamics between Sadie Way, Leala Clare and their mom were well done—and very real.

Where do I even begin with The Lights of Sugarberry Cove? This was the book I didn't know I needed to read, needed to really read, and take in. This is a book full of life lessons about forgiveness, the importance of family, friendship and love, about reconnecting with yourself, trying not to run away and finding one's spot in the sunlight. This was the warm hug of a book that was perfect for a bit of Sunday reading.

Told through the eyes of both Leala and Sadie, two sisters who appear to be so very different at first, author introduces us to a wealth of well-rounded, well-thought out characters who are brought together at a small B&B in Sugarberry Cove for a couple of days. Over the time we spend with the characters at Sugarberry Cove, we come to know so much about their pasts, their anxieties and their hopes and dreams, that it feels as though these are real-life people we just happened upon and were able to watch for a little while. More than that, I had tears welling up and smiles covering my face more than I've had reading a book for a while. What a roller coaster of emotions.

Beyond the very real and likable nature of the characters, I enjoyed the romance shimmering through the pages. Never quite in your face, but there in every page. I could also appreciate both the mystical stories in the Lady of the Lake, as well as the very real memories shared through Sadie's video series.

If you are looking to be carried away by a book, I'd highly recommend Heather Webber's Lights of Sugarberry Cove.

Once again, Heather Webber has wrecked me in the best way possible. I look forward to summer every year now knowing that she will have another tale filled with magical realism and characters so well developed you physically feel their loss when their story is done.

Tragedy can tear families together or pull them apart. Sometimes, it does both. For Sadie, Leala, Susannah, and their loved ones, a night at the town's annual lake lantern lighting festival changes everything. An already broken family, these women have no idea that the next 8 years are about to bring them more pain then they can imagine. But, pain can be healed if they are willing to face it.

The cast of supporting characters give this story a lighthearted touch of humor and the glue necessary to see the story through. There is a surprise ending that will leave you crying, smiling, and heartbroken that your time in Sugarberry Cove has ended. Make sure you savor every moment because your visit to this beloved town will be over all too quickly.

This book was magical! It’s about family, forgiveness and love. Sugarberry Cove sounds like a delightful town. It’s known for its water lantern festival.
Sadie and her sister Leala come together to care for their Mom after she suffers a heart attack.
I loved the characters in this book and the story. I could have read it in one day but I dragged it out so I could savor the story.
Definitely recommend this book and all her previous books.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the early copy

Sadie Scott’s near-death experience pushed her to get out of her hometown of Sugarberry Cove, and find her place in the world. But it left those she left behind – her family and her high school sweetheart – struggling to come to terms with her absence. And as is often the case, running away from something leaves lots of unresolved issues that refuse to get any better until they are dealt with head-on.

This book reunites two sisters and their mom, along with a cast of quirky of supporting characters at the family’s Bed and Breakfast just weeks before the Lantern Festival Sugarberry Cove is famous for. Told from the POVs of each of the sister, this story has elements of family drama, secrets, love, and even a bit of magic.

While I might have liked a little more variation in the voice of the two sisters, the story was a joy to read. This would make for a great beach read with just enough conflict to make the story interesting and enough good-hearted, feel-good resolution to keep it interesting. I enjoyed the characters, loved the ending, and sincerely hope there are more books planned for these two sisters and life in Sugarberry Cove.

For it’s delightful, feels-good vibe, this book earns a solid perfect-for-summer four stars.

Sugarberry Cove by Heather Webber will be released on July 20th, but it is available for preorder on Amazon.
