You Can Never Tell: Who is a friend and who is a foe?

I absolutely love this book. I am so grateful to have received an ARC of this! A gripping page turner that I read in two sittings.

Kacy is recovering from an ordeal in her past life and trying to build herself up again and make new friends. That’s when she discovers the Bluebonnets: a group of suburban women who raise funds for charity. But is everyone as they seem?

I sort of predicted the murders about half way through but even so, the writing and details had me hooked. I really enjoyed the way the podcast sections helped the story to unfold and foreshadow parts of the story.

I found this book quite slow to begin with and the podcast part of it nearly put me off. However the story gathered pace and although slow in parts, was a good story.

A predictable page turner but still a good read. Do you really know your friends? Can you forgive without revenge? I don’t know if I could.

Slow burn start embellished with delicious, heart pounding true crime podcast transcripts, taking a quick turn, fastening up its pace and giving you enough chills to glue your face to your e-reader! Yes, it was one of my greatest reads!

The book starts with Kacy and Michael- a married couple’s moving from Jersey to Texas for fresh start after Kacy’s so called, despicable best friend’s betrayal by putting blame on her for the bedazzlement at the North Atlantic Museum.

Kacy is still angry and wounded for losing everything she’s worked for including her reputation. But thankfully she finds herself a great place to improve her skills, attending Bluebonnet Society which is an association consisted of group of women specializing to host fundraising events and impressive origamis.

Nearly the half of the book continues like this till the juicy parts start ( yes, I’m talking about brutal murders)! Michael might be involved in. But he must be innocent until proven guilty, right? From the beginning, we root for him as loyal, understanding husband!

Second half of the book was more interesting, quickly captured my attention. Normally I am not so patient about too slow burn premises but the character development was impressive from the beginning and I quickly connected with Kacy. She was tough, strong, fighter, never a whiner, annoying woman. I rooted for her as like I did for Michael and kept ready to learn what was gonna happen to this struggling couple. The book kept my curiosity intact.

Podcast parts were also interesting but at some parts I wanted those hosts’ interludes stop a little so we can read the events by Kacy and Michael’s perspectives.

Overall: even the identity of the perpetrator was foreseeable, it was still gripping, riveting, well crafted, exciting murder mystery with layered, connectable, realistic characterization.

The publishers sent me this arc in the morning and I just devoured it in few hours.

It truly earned my four intriguing, murder mystery, crime podcast stars!

It's been a long time since I read any crime-mystery book and wow how I missed the suspense.
You Can Never Tell delivered that well! The suburban and simple living style made this story closer to reader, thus added the chills and suspense. Kacy is amazing MC and we get to see her growing and beating her own past. Some part of the story was predictable and I saw the killer right away but it was a very nice book! The crime podcast was a nice touch.
Overall a very nice ride! Recommended read for any crime-mystery fans.

I really liked the addition of the podcast in between the chapters. I think it added an outside view to the story.
I did not find this book predictable at all and I couldn't believe that Lena and Brady turned out to be serial killers! So many twists and turns that keep you at the edge of your seat!!

You Can Never Tell by Sarah Warburton is a domestic thriller with plenty of twists and turns. I could not put it down and ended up finishing it in 1 day. Here is a quote from the opening chapter of the book:

"You don’t know that you have a godmother... She’s the reason your father still wakes up screaming. If the world could be pressed into a cardboard book, the evil witch could be identified by her smirk and her long nails, but your godmother wasn’t a witch. She was a predator, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, the spider inviting a fly to her parlor. And I fell into her web."

After reading this quote, I was so excited to read on and figure out who the "godmother" is and what she had done to cause the main character, Kacy, to describe her this way. The novel revolves around Kacy and Michael, a typical couple who is moving to a new town in Texas. Kacy is reeling from the betrayal of a former friend, Aimee, and trying to start over and make new friends. She joins the Bluebonnet Society, a women's group that volunteers to make origami and host fundraisers. The first 40% of this book is slow, but right before the middle of the book, the action kicks in, and the story starts getting exciting. People are murdered, the police are involved, and Kacy has to figure out who the murderer is. One highlight of this book is the main character, Kacy. She is actually smart, figures things out, and takes action; she is not a wimpy main character that lets things happen to her. The main reason I enjoyed reading this book is because of her.

I took off one star because of the "interludes" featuring two hosts of a true-crime podcast that is doing a story on Kacy, Michael, and the murders that happened in the story. Although I thought this was an innovative format to tell the story, the hosts in the podcasts give too many hints and they also revealed who the murderer is. I was expecting the reveal of the murderer to be done in the main story and to experience Kacy's emotions as she realizes who did it. In fact, it was revealed in the interludes during one of the hosts' dialogues. Even though I knew who the murderer was, this didn't dampen my enjoyment of the rest of the book. The last half of the book in particular is very exciting, and I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. Overall, I highly recommend You Can Never Tell to all fans of the thriller genre.

I liked this book, it was engaging and I was interested in what was going to happen. The MC was traumatized by her past, but not the unstable/drunk/"crazy" female MC we see so much of in thrillers. I really enjoyed the podcast interludes, it just fit- not too much, not too little. I've seen this a lot in the last few years, and it was well done here.

Awesome! This thriller was so well crafted and the characters rich, colorful and complete! It’s quick read and a must read for all true crime podcast fans! I’d love to see this optioned by Netflix or HBO for a series or movie. A great pool or beach read for the dog days of summer!

I couldn't put this thriller down. A young couple moves to Sugar Land, Texas and becomes close friends with their next door neighbors. However, everything is not as it seems as people begin to disappear and even die. Fast paced, inventive, and thrilling. I loved it.

I really liked this one, even though it was pretty predictable. Even so, it kept me reading. I thought the inclusion of the podcast transcripts was particularly well-done. Unlike in some books when they try this, these transcripts actually sounded like real podcast banter.

Great story with good twist and turns. However, I wish I didn’t figure out the “bad guys” so easily.

This book combines two of my favourite things - a good thriller/mystery and true crime podcasting. The story starts with Kacy and her husband moving to Texas to find a fresh start after Kacy was framed for embezzlement by her former best friend. Still stinging from the betrayal, Kacy tries her best to trust others and herself. Just as she thinks that she's finally settling into her new life, her world is turned upside down once again when she discovers that one of her closest friends is a serial killer, and that Kacy's family is the newest target.
I couldn't put this one down and I'll definitely be checking out Sarah Warburton's other work.

Loved this one! So easy to read and lots of twists and turns along the way. Definitely a quick read and one I recommend.

I enjoy thrillers and this was something a bit different. Grace and Michael relocate after Grace's best friend frames her. As Grace starts to make new friends, not everything is as it seems. The story was interesting and I got into it really quickly, although I thought it took a long time to get to the conclusion

My biggest complaint was that I didn't warm to the characters which I think always makes a book.

Overall though, an enjoyable read.

I really liked this book. It starts off slow at first, but quickly picks up. The one thing I enjoyed most was the podcast element. Being a fan of true crime podcasts, it was nice to see that in a book. I highly recommend this novel and will be picking up other titles by Sarah Warburton.

This book is really confusing at first

You start with Helen and Julie , who are commentating back and forth. You later learn it there podcast about the murders that have occurred. So they kinda explain it as it goes

Kacy and Michael are married
They just moved from NJ , to Sugar Land TX.

She’s escaping Aimee her for former bf and coworker at the museum they worked for, she had been sleeping with the museum director, a bald-headed guy twice her age, who was also the CEO of the North Atlantic Museum Trust. And she’d been embezzling. And taking a few pieces of art. Aimee learned when the theft was discovered, and framed Kacy for it. But it ruined her career so they left NJ for TX. She meets new friends and then a murder happens next door. Her husband is involved but innocent. Or presumed until guilt.

I’ll be honest with you I don’t do well with damsels in distress or a women who is just plain clueless. Or convinces herself that it’ll be ok. That’s normal. Husband is guilty or seems guilty no worries. It’s another day.

I’m kinda loud and stand up for myself. And when it smells like 💩, it usually is.

However , the book was good. I loved the story line I loved the way it was put together. I read it quickly , and couldn’t put it down 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Right from the start this book has a unique writing style. It gives eerie vibes of, when I turn the page what’s going to be around the corner? Which honestly I love for the books I read. It was easy to follow, throughly page turning and kept me in my toes. Would love to have a copy of this!
