The Hunted is set in Africa, as Stevie and Jacob launch into a new life, working in an eco-based dive camp .What should be exciting becomes very frightening as Stevie starts to wonder if she is being stalked. Leo and Tasmin are fellow backpackers, and appear to have it all, but what is the truth?
This is the first book that I have read by this author and she kept the pages turning. Had me looking over my shoulder and wondering what we were going to find as the truth in the end. Her writing style painted such a picture in my head that it was hard to not become a little scared and maybe even a little paranoid!
If you enjoy novels set in Africa, frightening and causing you to question the truth of the story, then this one is for you. Also keep in mind that if you are like me and when a author writes in a great style you are transported into the story, then this one is for you!

Thank you NetGalley, Simon & Schuster Canada and Roz Nay for this avanced copy of this oh so good book. This is a book about who to trust, with great character development and give you a story to really escape into. It was a great " at the edge of your seat" read. As. a thriller lover, I do not give spoilers and I do not want to ruin it for you but it is one to pick up.

Thanks again1

I think this book could have had so much potential, but I just read it during a busy time and in a bit of a slump. It took me 2 weeks to read this, because I just didn't have the desire to pick it up and keep reading.

This is about two couples who meet while backpacking through Africa. You assume the best of the people you meet while traveling, but when strange things start happening, and people start getting obsessed, bad things start to happen. How well can you really trust the people you meet ? After all, you really don't know if anything they are telling you, who they say they are, and why they're here is the truth.

There were some unexpected twists in this book, but nothing really that wow'd me. It definitely makes me never want to go backpacking, that's for sure !

I was going to give this one 3 stars but the end convinced me to add another one! I liked the setting of the book being in Africa. I could almost feel the tension of travelling in a country so far away and the dangers that would come with that. Nay did a great job at developing the character of Leo and I was not expecting what happened at the end!

I received this book free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book reminded me so much of You and also if You and Hostel had a baby. It was an okay book but I kept waiting for something more to happen. Like action happened but I was bored. I didn’t really connect with any of the characters and I felt like their stories were being brought up but we only got a glimpse instead of the whole story. I didn’t care for that. The twist wasn’t exciting.

I don’t think I would recommend .

The Hunted is the first book I have read by Roz Nay. I found it to be an ok read. The story started off interesting but I really detested all of the main characters. There were twists and turns that did keep me intrigued enough to read to the end but I honestly didn't care too much about the characters or what happened to them. That being said, I really like the author's style of writing and how scenes are so vividly described. I am planning to try another book by this author.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the free ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
This is the first book I've read by Roz Nay. The Hunted had many plot twists and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Two couples backpacking across Africa with remote locations make a great story.

The book was short, making it a quick read. The only thing I would have liked to would be more developed characters.

I genuinely enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

'And yet, he thinks I’m his soul mate. He thinks we’re exactly the same.’

@roznay does it again with her latest The Hunted that comes out today. She again manages to create the prefect storm to brew throughout the book to be nicely tied up at the end. I really enjoyed the dual story telling chapter by chapter to help get a better understanding of what is about to come as well as the slow reveals.

The Hunted follows Stevie and Leo through a diving trip in Africa as their lives start to intertwine when friendship turns into something more.

If you enjoyed Woman in Cabin 10 or are a fan of thrillers, this book is for you. After you have devoured this one, go read her others!

Thank you @netgalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review.

I had no clue what to expect with this thriller! Roz is an author I really love and she has done it again with The Hunted! The story kept me on my toes the entire read, and I truthfully did not expect the ending to be what it was!!! A total twist. I highly recommend this one if you are a fan of thrillers, and Lisa Jewell, etc type novels!

A young couple who get a job as professional diver, working at a dive camp in Africa. The story starts along the way and ends at the dive camp.
The good parts:
-Beginning It grabbed me right at the beginning, so creepy and horrifying.
-Rhythm. Whole book is page tuning, things happened really fast. no dragging.
-Africa setting. My first non-historical fiction setted on the continent of Africa. I liked it.
The OK Parts:
-Characters. Other than Jacob, three characters are not likeable. Stevie is annoying, Leo is complicated and interesting. The character development is there, but not awesome.
-Writing. The writing is simple. But it is too plain, as a thriller book, there is something missing. Twisting?
The not very good Parts:
-The dive camp. Dive camp is important in the story. It’s the place they travel to. to work for, and things happened there. But a lot of things don't make sense. I don’t see what the dive camp actually does ? People do not look like they have enough experience .Every dive they go looks just for fun. 12 meter depth is not even enough to pick up garbage. And the accident is not believable, the rescue is ridiculous. As a 10+ year diver, I am so disappointed.
-Explanation. Too many things left unexplained.
-Why. Maybe this is only me. Whatever thriller or horror this book is, What is the reason?
Overall I gave this book 3.5 starts.

Unfortunately I could not get into this one at all. I tried a few times but found I couldn’t connect with the characters.

I'm not sure why good reads didn't save me reading this book...

I read this book sometime last month I believe? I liked the premise and it intrigued me that it was similar to the Beach vibes ( Leonardo De Caprio Movie)

We follow 2 couples on a trip to Tanzania. Both Couples Travel often but something weird starts to happen. The main character believes she is being followed. Is it paranoia? or something else?

Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced read of this book even though this book is already published! Go check it out. Overall 3.5 rating

I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest feedback. These opinions are my own.

What a pleasant surprise The Hunted was! Twisty, turny, and all kinds of convoluted, it has been a long time since I've read a book with as many major plot twists as The Hunted.

Two couples that we know very little about backpacking across Africa + remote locations...you know this is going to be good!

The book was very short which is great for a quick read and love that it didn't drag the story, but felt like it could have used some more details and backstory with some of the characters.

I genuinely enjoyed this book and would recommend it to a mystery/thriller lover.

3.5 stars.

When your getaway turns into a nightmare…

A couple travelling abroad keep crossing paths with another young couple and strike up a friendship. Unfortunately, people are not always who they appear to be. I recommend that you read for yourself to find out what happens….

I really enjoyed this thriller set at tropical beach. I guess this is one of the finest writing of Roznay. Its an atmospheric thriller. Its fast paced. Though it went a little off in middle but overall I really enjoyed this book. Perfect summer book!

Thank you netgally and @simonschusterca for my advanced readers copy.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

This book hooked me right away; the first chapter has me anxious to know more. The action just kept on going, I suspected everyone and was always ready for the next shoe to drop.

Stevie and Jacob are leaving their stale-dated lives behind and heading out to try something new. Jacob has been offered a job as a dive instructor on a remote island on the African coast. On the way there they meet a pair of experienced back-packers, handsome Leo and gorgeous Tamsin. It is clear to the reader that right away there’s something wrong with Leo, something is just off about him. Stevie is on edge right away and thinks someone is watching her. As her and Jacob keep accidentally crossing paths with Leo and Tamsin, they end up at the same dive camp and Stevie finds herself more and more drawn to Tamsin. But something is wrong on the island and it as it comes to a head, not everyone will make it off the island.

Great read, lots of suspense and twists. Will definitely watch for more books by this author.

In all honesty, I reread the synopsis of this book and really thought it was going to be a DNF for me. But I’m pleased to say it was done well and not only did I read it I didn’t want to put it down.

Stevie and Jacob are travelling after her grandmother dies and leaves their lives upturned. From her beginning of the story, Stevie is uneasy and wary about travel, and has some weird mishaps continually happening putting her even more on edge. When they meet another couple and their paths take them both to a deserted island for diving, Stevie begins to make friends. However, things with others are beginning to get worse, and her bad feelings are intensifying. Is she right, is she being watched and followed?

By about half way through I had figured how the twist at the end was going to go. It was a solid 4-4.5 star book for me for a long time, but if I was right about the twist it had to be done right in order for me to go with it, and I don’t think it was. Things didn’t really all fall into place for me, so it left me a little bummed. 3 stars it is.

What a prologue! This book grabbed me from the first few pages and kept me hooked all the way through! There were also a lot of twists and turns in this one and I definitely didn’t have it all figured out. This was my first time reading this author and it won’t be my last!

Roz Nay takes her readers on an African Island vacation with 2 couples but one of them is stalker who will stop a nothing to get what they want:

Stevie is looking for a fresh start, the ability to be someone different and new, someone other than who she is after the sudden loss of her grandmother and everything back home being screwed up due to it. He boyfriend, Jacob, suggests a vacation, somewhere completely different from their small town. The end up on an island just off of Tanzania, at an Ecotourist spot where Jacob can also work as a diver. Along the way they meet another couple names Leo and Tamsin who appear to be experts at traveling, and are able to help Stevie and Jacob navigate Africa. When they all end up at the same Ecotourist spot, relationships are put to the test and the question of how well do you really know the person you are with. Could one of them be capable of murder?

This was the first book that I have read by Nay, so I wasn't sure what to expect from the book but I found the premise really interesting, and what Nay presents here. that in my opinion, is a Domestic Suspense book that really will have you wanting to read on from the very first sentence. I think of it more as in the domestic suspense genre as it involves two couples and the interaction between them. There is suspense on many levels between the two couples, not just in a psychological way, but a physical and sexual one as well. Do I think that Nay achieved the suspense throughout the entire book, No, it ebb and flowed but I did find that it was quite slow at times, but I wanted to read on to see what would happen next, so it was able to keep me reading throughout.

It is always interesting when you read a book and you do not like any of the characters, and you’re not really rooting for anyone, I mean you don't want anyone to get hurt, but there are very few likeable qualities among the main characters. Even that of Stevie who is one of the POV, I just found her selfish, childish and just not true to herself throughout the book (though i will admit she does grow by the end of the book). Leo is also an interesting character mainly due tot he fact as to how Nay portrays him in this book, but the same point not a very likeable character, he is creepy, clingy and entitled throughout. I feel like not liking any of the characters this is a unique experience, that I actually do not mind, I do not think that it took away from my enjoyment of the book.

I know, for me, when an author really tries to convince me of one thing I look in the totally opposite direction and that was true in this book, so I was able to figure it out, and it wasn't a big shocker in the end. Honestly, I thought that it made perfect sense to me and how people manipulate others. And lets just say this book has a lot of manipulation going on, and Nay shows that she has no problems with mind games for her characters and her readers.

This is the first book I have read by Nay and it won’t be the last. I look forward to checking out her other novels.

Enjoy!!!

👍Brilliant!,!

This is the first but definetly not the last book by Roz Nay that I will read. I was intrigued by this books description and couldnt wait to plunge right into it. Loved how the characters developed. Loved the suprising twist at the end. Didnt see it coming at all. It gripped me from the start! Now im weary of going on vacation and meeting new people. Feel like I'll have to sleep with one eye open!
Great cat n mouse thriller that'll keep you guessing all the way!

Hope they make this into a movie.

Recommend this book to anyone who loves a good slow burn suspense, edge of your seat book, with a dual narration about secrets & obsessions.

Thanks to Netgalley, Simon & Schuster Canada and the author Roz Nay for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
